      Favorite question was around adaptations on a plant based diet. Love how you’re not dogmatic about this in either direction. The red meat article was similarly great 👍🏼

      Mine were the segments related to nutrition: 15:42, 38:24. Any chance on you guys putting together a nutrition guide? I'm having a hard time building a cutting plan that maintains macros without excess calories. I'm running Powerbuilding one and am 6'1 and 25% bodyfat.

    i have been spending 1-2 hours (1-2 videos) literally pretty much studying the information you and Austin provide in the seminars or the Q/As, there is so much to learn on this channel, i'm literally making notes and highlighting certain things to do further research on my own. Thank you guys for what you do..

    longtime/first time here, also big-time cyclist. if dude is having knee pain, most probable and most common cause is saddle height. if u don’t know how to set it right, ask a fit tech or cautiously cruise google results. u need to have that figured out if u do any kind of regular riding

    Hey Jordan, I am just curious. What would be the advantage of buying one of your templates if lifters should always be focusing on adding workload? E.g. what if my current routine already has more volume than your programme? Not a criticism, just interested in your programmes. Keep up the good work.

    • @BarbellMedicine
      @BarbellMedicine  4 года назад +7

      A few important distinctions- external workload and training load are not the same thing, which is discussed in the video. Volume is one parameter of external workload and just because a program has more volume (think German Volume Training) doesn't make it higher load or more useful necessarily. That all being said, our templates are not magic and we cannot promise they will work well for you. However, they are intelligently programmed and adjusted regularly based on user feedback so we can provide training resources that get good results for a wide swath of the population.

    In regard the the first question about cycling and knee pain, obviously you know more than me, and those are for sure valid points! But anecdotally, I also find clip in shoes uncomfortable for.my knees. Certain types dont allow much float of the foot, and you are locked into a toes straight forward position. Anatomically, I am comfortable as a toes out squatter, and I find clipped pedals put me in a position that doesnt work well with my body. If the pain came from no clips to clips, maybe that could be a factor?

  • @AberrantArt

    Can strength training and heavy lifting cause pericarditis?
    I have had a sharp pain in my left chest every time I breathe deeply. Hunching forward reduces the pain and leaning back or laying down makes it increase when breathing deeply.

    If someone needs less fatigue to improve wouldn't the logical response be to increase their work capacity so they can handle more hard training?

    • @BarbellMedicine
      @BarbellMedicine  4 года назад +2

      I think the base line assumption there is also that they need "more training stress" to progress, but that they also may need more work capacity to handle that stress. Ideally, a program sets you up for that long-term rather than robbing Peter to pay Paul in the short term, e.g. detraining you so you can life an extra 10lbs.

      Make an effort to eat more calories than you need. Go to the Gym. ...thats basically it.
      Obviously there is a lot of details to it, like you can buy one of the high value templates on barbell medicine but on the most basic level thats it.

    Jordan,
    I have a 1/2" tibial LLD. Shimming fucked up decades of compensation, leaving me in severe pain for about 1.5 years. I'm mostly recovered now. I can train all my lifts again, and I usually feel great. I have skill for transferring the forces in ways that keep me safe without the shim. Been doing it for almost 2 decades, aside from the mistake of trying shimming. After going through all of that, my final conclusion is that Epstein didn't kill himself.
    What do you think?
