    Federal HANDGUN buckshot makes it the best home defense handgun option. Four deadly wounds per trigger pull that's accurate beyond home ranges. It's essentially a firing squad of hot .32 auto rounds. 16 inches in gel.

    Great video, I have three judges and they all shoot great. To those who don't like them, don't buy one. I don't like Cadillac, I don't complain about them I just don't buy them. There is no difference between carrying a taurus judge loaded with 45 long colt vs carrying a smith mod 25 45 long colt. The 3 an 1/2" full size judge is the same size and weight roughly as the 4 inch model 25. They both have swing out cylinders and both can use speed loaders. The 45 long colt has been around since 1873 and it spawned the 45 acp so you can't say it's a weak round for defense. I think you did a great job with this video and I really enjoyed it. Thanks. PS. I carry a 3 1/2 full size judge on my right hip, a 2 inch steel frame public defender in my right back pocket and the poly defender on my left ankle. I use 5 star speed loaders for 45 long colt rounds and speed strips for 410 buckshot. I only use 410 rounds designed for the judge when carrying for defense. Remember 1 is none, 2 is one and 3 is a happy meal. The fastest reload is another loaded gun. And I have never seen or heard of a stop watch being found in a gun fight. Life is too short to be serious all the time, have some fun.

      Do you recall the “Snake Charmer” made by, I think H&R, quite a while ago? A shorty, single shot .410 with a short stock with a thumbhole as I recall. At first, I thought, “Well, that’s stupid.” Then I talked to lots of motorhome camper types who loved them. Not really gun people, just families who wanted a bit of protection from snakes and such while camping. This is kinda’ like that. Not the best at anything, but pretty good for a lot of general “stuff.” Roy H.

    The judge is a gun a people LOVE to hate. When I went out on the road as a long haul driver, I sed the key lock to keep the gun unable to be fired. Stupid druggy broke in, got the Judge. I lost it forever, but it was not able to be fired without using the key to unblock it. When I told the Sherrif about it, he said if they tried to use it, it would be as effective as a "blue gun". Her was sorry I lost it, but glad I knew how to use the key lock. It never came back to me.

    Hey Roy, now cover the S&W Governor. I had one, used it for varmint/predator eradication while mowing. The differences: Taurus is 5-shot, able to load the .410 and .45 Colt calibers. The Governor, is 6-shot, able to load the .410, .45 Colt and with moon clips, .45ACP and the model I had came standard with a night sight on the front sight.

    • @fmgpubs
      @fmgpubs  2 года назад +4

      David, thanks for your kind comment! As far as quality goes, today’s Taurus is improved over the “olden days” and I’d rank them as being “among the mainstream makers” for quality today. I haven’t had any issues with Taurus guns over the last five or six years of testing them. I especially like their newish .22 auto series. Even a Colt or S&W can glitch but for some reason people seem to “forgive” them, while losing their minds if an Armscor, Taurus, Charter Arms, etc. has any issues. I always just look at the cost, then weigh what compromises there might be and decide if it matters in the real world. Roy H.

      stonerman 15 , my TAURUS JUDGE 45lc/410 revolver has the 7 -1/2 inch barrel . And shooting the 45lc ammo or 410 ammo their isn't much recoil because the gun is so big and heavy. That's why I went with the longer barrel gun to help with the recoil , I'm 59 years old and didn't want a smaller barrel gun with such a large load. Mine is so fun to shoot because of the low recoil.

      My judge kicks like a son of a bitch when I fire 45LC, but that might be because the loads are pretty 'hot'

  • @banditone00
    @banditone00 2 года назад +4

    For tractor/fishing boat duty is really the only merit is see with the judge. For defense from two legged snakes, I don’t think any of the .410 shells have enough velocity to be get the penetration to be viable. I also would only be comfortable firing any of the .410 loads in an around the farm setting. 45lc would be the only thing I’d consider a defensive round in it, and for a weapon of that size and weight 5 shots of 45 doesn’t seem like a deal for me.
    I did play with an 856 Taurus the other day, and wish smith still made an equivalent. I’ve taken a couple classes with DB and he has me shooting a 442 instead of toting the Roland special all the time. I shot the class last weekend with the 442, and for regular earth people stuff feel pretty good about it.
    I just don’t see an application for something with that size, weight, and capacity unless the Deere is doing the carrying for me. I am sad now that I didn’t snag up a bunch of police trade in wheel guns back when they were cheap. All the guns I put off that were $200 then are a grand now. Thanks for the videos!

    • @fmgpubs
      @fmgpubs  2 года назад +4

      Boy, you and me both regarding those old police trade in guns! I think for a “non-gun” person who needs a sort of general duty revolver, something like this makes sense. Camping, travel, home defense, etc. it offers some versatility, especially with shot loads, if someone doesn’t want to train well enough to his with the .45 Colt loads accurately. Roy

    • @bmx7596

      Federal handgun buckshot does 16 inches in FBI gel. That's more than alot of .32s and .38s, but you get four projectiles per trigger pull and a 3 inch spread at 21ft. It's basically a firing squad of smaller pistol calibers every pull of the trigger.

      Not at all. Most of the shot is lead or copper plated. The steel rifling will wear just as any rifling will wear with copper jackets, which means not very much at all. That CCI ammo is just about worthless. My dad had 2 rounds of that ammo in his .44 magnum. He used both rounds to kill a rattlesnake. The first shot just got the snakes attention, the second shot just confirmed to the snake where he was getting hit from and started heading in my dads direction. The third shot was full metal jacket .44 magnum. Needless to say the snake stopped dead in his tracks, blowing every part of that snake from every other part of him. The .410 would have done the job in the first place.

    • @fmgpubs
      @fmgpubs  2 года назад +2

      Amazing he had that trouble. I’ve shot lots of snakes, field rats, etc. here on my property with .45 Colt CCI shot rounds and as long as you’re within, say, eight or ten feet, they work great. I have noticed it’s easy to miss the target with the main part of the shot stream due to rifling throwing the shot cloud off to one side a bit. You need to shoot at a piece of cardboard or paper to see where your gun throws the charge, then compensate. Roy H.
