9:50 Beef is 'lembu', and 'kambing' is goat (meat), Joel. Also, I don't think the peanut sauce that comes with the satay is ever referred to as sambal. It's just 'kuah kacang' (peanut gravy, literally, but peanut sauce really). 1:55 The lady boss also literally translated (chicken} breasts ('dada') as chest, and good that you understood without correcting her (!) 1:21 "Selamat siang' is typically an Indonesian way to say Good Day (between the hours 11 am to 3 pm. From 3 pm to 6 pm, it is 'Selamat sore' or Good Afternoon). The DBP (the body coordinating the use of Bahasa in Malaysia, similar to the Académie Française in France), however, has the last word on the appropriate terms for the different hours of the day to be used in the country: PAGI: 1.00 am -11.59 am, TENGAH HARI: 12.00 noon - 1.59 pm, PETANG: 2.00 pm - 6.59 pm, MALAM: 7.00 pm - 11.59 pm and TENGAH MALAM: 12.00 midnight - 12.59 am. Good morning Joel Li and to our Bru Cru family . Yet another super fab Vlog from the wonderful country of Malaysia 🇲🇾 The spicy Fried Chicken with colourful chilli paste is simply scrumptious 😋. Actually if you look like the general culture , Food et al between Thailand , Malaysia and India is quite similar . That’s the reason we love Thai and Malaysian cuisines in India 🇮🇳 Joel you are perfect to add the Chilli gravy on to your Rice 🍚 My favourite part of any chicken dish is the Drum 😀 It’s a Spic(y) paradise indeed 👍 I simply adore and love the way LI pauses after a bite and then provides us a wonderful insight into the texture and taste profile of any dish 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼 The presentation of the Spicy Squid dish is simply awesome 👌 Looks like this eatery specialises in “Smoked and Spicy dishes” Chilli Cheers to Joel 👍 The way Joel sweetly mentioned that “ Nose is running politely after that double chilli” What I love and you and Li are your ever smiling faces and you do complete justice to any cuisine that you order 👌 Whoa the veggie dish had a Squid in it 😀 For our dear Joel Chillis are like candies the way he comfortably enjoys each bite of the Chilli 🌶 I love the Malaysian Satay , they never could go wrong in a Satay 👏🏼👏🏼 Fabulous articulation of texture , taste + some additional culinary inputs by our maestro Joel Bruner 🎖🎖🎖🎖 That was a fab close up shot of the Glistening Satay 👌 Eating with fingers is always special and it has proven medicinal dishes 👌 I loved the banter between Joel , female at the cash register and the Thai Staff. You make everyone so comfortable that people simply love you wherever you go ✊🏻Wow the fruit vendor has really an array of delicious looking fruits including the Durians 👌 Thanks for your Tips on Durian ; Be adventurous , Durian is one of the healthiest fruit in the whole world and stay hydrated 👍 Thoroughly enjoyed every frame of this super fabulous Vlog 👌 Take car , Stay Safe and Healthy ! God bless you folks 🙏🙏🙏❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Good Morning or Night!!! I have been watching his videos for over year. You were with Mark Wein. The mentally of Joel was totally different. I kept watching. When you did them by yourself. Your mannerisms was totally different how you handle eating food & Praying before you ate. Your wife were with you that was blessings also!!! I joined your team. Congratulations on the way you handle and courteously you show the cooks, owners, people who serves, & the foods set before You & Your Wife!!!. She is beautiful & lovely!!!🙏🙏🙏😊😊

Hey Joel. While I love your Thailand videos (I love Thai food myself), it is amazing to see you out of the country on other food adventures. I have had the opportunity to eat food with my hands once, when I spent a month in Kenya. While my efforts were serviceable at best, ugali is a whole lot easier to handle than rice! Love your videos mate, keep up the amazing work.
👋🏻Hello Joel, Li, and all you amazing people out there! Selamat: Pagi (Morning) Tengah hari (Afternoon) Petang (Evening) Siang (Day) Malam (Night) Penang is the English name, Pinang is the Malay name. Locally we dont use Pinang, it sounded weird... we use the full name Pulau Pinang.
If you two want to eat spicy food you should go to negeri sembilan to try masak lemak kuning with cili padi w smoke beef or home ranch chicken or smoke duck or ikan keli aka cat fish salai. U will love it.
Hellas thanks so much for thinking of that :) I hope you will continue to watch, even at Monday at 8am ♥️ I’ve always had a schedule from the start, so I don’t change it just because the video locations change. I don’t want to confuse the family of viewers we already have 💫 🌍 💕
Hey Hey Thailight, yes I love Malaysia very much. I do indeed compete, many bike races around Thailand (the entire South trip series this year, many different bike races...).
I like spicy food but it’s more about the flavor than the heat index. Not all spicy food taste good. I’ve never tried this food. It looks very delicious ‼️
Hi Joel, I am not sure if you will see this or not but I have a question for you. I just subscribed to your channel after seeing you in a bunch of Mark Wiens' videos (I saw that you had your own channel and decided to check it out, good stuff!). I have a 4 year college degree in computer science and right now I am working an office job with the only real way up is to become an engineer or become a manager, which would include sitting at a cubicle/desk all day for both paths. The thing is, both of those ideas sound terrifyingly boring, knowing that I would sit behind a desk until I retire only to occasionally do something fulfilling on a vacation. I do however love reading about different cultures as well as learning about them (food, customs, way of life, etc) but I haven't traveled too much outside of the US. Each time I do travel I love the sense of adventure of seeing a new place and trying things out that I have never done before. I am a 32 year old native English speaker (from the east coast USA) and feel like I could get a job abroad teaching English via some kind of TEFL certification, at least short term. I feel like that would be more hands on and something far more up my alley that has me doing something that makes me feel fulfilled and connected to people(most engineers are super introverted, at least where I work. I guess I am sort of wondering how you ended up where you are today and if you have any advice to pass along to someone who is possibly looking to uproot their lives to try and become better connected with the rest of the world by abandoning the life of working in a cubicle for the rest of my years. I guess my biggest concern would be that I would not know a single person when/if I decide to make the jump and that worries me the most (feeling alone and isolated in an unknown part of the world, potentially feeling like I have set my career very far back by leaving for potentially greener pastures.) Thanks Joel for the good video!
Welcome to the family. Joel will at some point see your comment but your question is so specific that I would recommend that you email him at joelbrunervlogs@gmail.com. Joel is a fantastic person and his wife is awesome. When entering into a new adventure you have to step out on faith. Remember that nothing that is good will come easy but follow your heart and use wisdom. I look forward to seeing you on this platform. Be blessed and be a blessing to someone.

4th comment! And before I watched anything at all! Technically, it is the 6th comment, because other people have to reply to other people and then thank those people for replying.....but I still think it is the 4th original comment :D

That Kk durian maybe kampung durian..origin of durian breed, but i doubt that since hard to find original kampung, people now day just named kampung if it not famous 1..msian planting durian by cross breed, registered and came out with their tag number.. registered it under our ministry..for example D197 is famous known for musang king,D200 is black thorn..and D24

@1:12 - She said 'Selamat Siang' (lit. Good Day)... that is characteristic of Indonesian language, she is definitely Indonesian. We Malaysians hardly use that phrase in Malaysia, we say 'Selamat Tengah Hari' (lit. Good Noon) at around 12pm to 1pm. After that, we will say 'Selamat Petang' (lit. Good afternoon/evening) until around 8pm. When it is totally dark (night time), only then we will say 'Selamat malam' (lit. Good Night).... Malay and Indonesian language are mutually intelligible... however these subtle differences in usage of language identifies whether the person is Indonesian or Malaysian... 😄

Selamat Pagi - Good Morning Selamat Tengahari- Good Afternoon Selamat Petang- Good Evening Selamat Malam- Good Night Selamat Siang more to Indonesian word. "Selamat Siang"(Indonesian word) or "Siang Hari" means Daylight.
A reading from today's Holly Mass: Heb 11:1-2 "Brothers and sisters: Faith is the realization of what is hoped for and evidence of things not seen. Because of it the ancients were well attested."
In a book full of extremely deep words on which we can meditate, this is one of the best. Ron, thank you so much for blessing all of us with this reading today, I was reading Philippians before starting to answer these comments but I am going to now has a little sit down with Hebrews 11. Thank you again :-) much love to you brother, speak again very soon.
Haha Mohammad!! You’re most correct sir, haha… just thought maybe people have seen enough durian in the recent weeks’ adventures and maybe we should have the new stuff first! ♥️ 👊🏼
Hey Ronald, hope youre doing well today man :). Satay is awesome... is there another dish called saté out there? Which would be pretty cool to, maybe have them both at the same time?
You are so humble and your energy is pure, watching your videos always brings a smile to my face and uplifts my soul. Blessings, light, and love to you and yours my friend. 😌🙏🧘♂️❤️💛💚♾️✝️ Lo, God will not reject a man of integrity, nor will He support the evildoers. Job 8:20 Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge; for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, that they may be ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I have taught you today, even you. Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge, to make you know the certainty of the words of truth that you may correctly answer him who sent you? Proverbs 22:17-21 I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit. Romans 9:1 That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants. Romans 9:8 According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and those who sow trouble harvest it. By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of His anger they come to an end. Job 4:8-9 Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever. Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land. Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy praise your name. Psalm 74 A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you. You will only look on with your eyes and see the recompense of the wicked. For you have made the Lord, my refuge, even the Most High, your dwelling place. No evil will befall you, nor will any plague come near your tent. For He will give His angels charge concerning you, to guard you in all your ways. They will bear you up in their hands, that you do not strike your foot against a stone. You will tread upon the lion and cobra, the young lion and the serpent you will trample down. Psalm 91:7-13 My writing- God's wrath will be just and fierce, the ignorance of wicked lost souls that serve satan and sin will face God's judgment. If your pineal is activated you are one with the Holy Spirit, you have access to infinite creation and God's truth. You don't have to take satans poison (pharmaceuticals), it's a choice. God provides an alternative to all pharmaceuticals in nature that actually work. If you choose to put those potions they produce in their laboratories in your body you will face the demons and darkness that comes with it. God doesn't want His people to poison their mind, body, and soul with that sorcery. Humanity has eaten the forbidden fruit before, every time humanity gives in and accepts this false knowledge they face God's judgment and wrath. I represent the eternal flame of truth, the light of love, God's infinite presence in all creation. Soon everything will make sense and I will say, see I told you. If you are of the Spirit God will protect your flesh, if you are of the flesh satan will destroy your Spirit. Eternal life or eternal death, the choice is yours. You can appreciate wisdom and truth from any culture or person but you don't have to worship their symbols or gods to appreciate it. If you let go of the false knowledge in this world God will bless you with the infinite knowledge of His truth. There are constant affirmations, truths, synchronicities, and alignments now that I have the Holy Spirit and God's truth. 12:06 I see synchronicity and symbolism in God's creation, not the false knowledge of man. People stuck in the darkness can't handle the light, if they are confronted by the light they emit the darkness within through their wicked tongue and negative energy. I have respect for everyone, if somebody says or does something I know is wrong I ignore it and move on, God has everything under control. I know even if I show them the truth they won't see it because their ignorance blinds them. It's best to find God's truth before God's truth finds you. We are of Christ, be one with that,be light. I've had truth all along, the poison from satan used to cloud my vision and deceive me, not anymore. God has blessed me with infinite truth and eternal love in the name of Jesus Christ. I pray that everyone who is a slave to Babylons tyranny and oppression is set free by the glory of God in the name of Jesus Christ amen. It's better to feel the truth I share when you read it, if you just read it your mind will trick and mislead you. Do you really have faith in God? Or did you fall for the fear of satan? If you have faith in God He will protect you from anything. It's best to read the Bible for yourself and let God show you what it means, don't let someone else tell you how to read the Bible or what it means. There are a lot of false teachers and leaders throughout the world in houses of worship that misinterpret the word of God and lead people astray.
@@maxf3253 You found it, lol, thank you. I love God and His truth, I will never give in to the evil in this world. Blessings, light, and love to you and yours Max. 😊🙏✝️♾️✨️💫❤️

Hey hey man!! Well, I live in Thailand and I eat the food of Thailand very regularly… So Spicy is definitely a relative term to begin with. However, yes in my opinion, this was by far the most spicy single traditional dish, meaning you don’t have to order it “extra spicy,” that I found in the entire month in Malaysia. You can add chili of course whenever you want, but this is the most chili that is in any of the traditional dishes around Kuala Lumpur. **Kelantan enjoys uniquely spicy food! It’s more similar to Southern Thai food

Kicap = Soy sauce. Sometimes westener get confused with ketchup which in Malaysia we refer as tomato sauce.
Have a great week
I guess my biggest concern would be that I would not know a single person when/if I decide to make the jump and that worries me the most (feeling alone and isolated in an unknown part of the world, potentially feeling like I have set my career very far back by leaving for potentially greener pastures.)
Thanks Joel for the good video!

TOM YAM? Is it Thai word? Wow interesting how food can crossover around the world.
There are thai malaysians who lived north of the country. So they, like the chinese and indians, enriched our cuisine.
Mutton is kambing. Beef is daging. You said wrongly.

Beef (daging)
Lamb (kambing)
Kambing! is Goat right? I’ve had the Kambing Bakar in Kuala Terrangganu, amazing… but yeah, I remember the owner teaching us that was goat 🐐?
Ayam kampung refers to free range chicken
You called saté "Beef; "Gambingf'" but gambing = goat or lamb. Beef tastes different than goat or lamb! OMG !! LOL !!

Lo, God will not reject a man of integrity, nor will He support the evildoers.
Job 8:20
Incline your ear and hear the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge; for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, that they may be ready on your lips. So that your trust may be in the Lord, I have taught you today, even you. Have I not written to you excellent things of counsels and knowledge, to make you know the certainty of the words of truth that you may correctly answer him who sent you?
Proverbs 22:17-21
I am telling the truth in Christ, I am not lying, my conscience testifies with me in the Holy Spirit.
Romans 9:1
That is, it is not the children of the flesh who are children of God, but the children of the promise are regarded as descendants.
Romans 9:8
According to what I have seen, those who plow iniquity and those who sow trouble harvest it. By the breath of God they perish, and by the blast of His anger they come to an end.
Job 4:8-9
Do not hand over the life of your dove to wild beasts; do not forget the lives of your afflicted people forever. Have regard for your covenant, because haunts of violence fill the dark places of the land. Do not let the oppressed retreat in disgrace; may the poor and needy praise your name.
Psalm 74
A thousand may fall at your side and ten thousand at your right hand, but it shall not approach you.
Psalm 91:7-13
My writing-
God's wrath will be just and fierce, the ignorance of wicked lost souls that serve satan and sin will face God's judgment.
12:06
I see synchronicity and symbolism in God's creation, not the false knowledge of man.
Thanks for sharing as usual luv. God will continue to bless you 🙏

This doesn’t look spicy? 🤷♂️ is this really the spiciest food in Malaysia?
Hey hey man!! Well, I live in Thailand and I eat the food of Thailand very regularly… So Spicy is definitely a relative term to begin with. However, yes in my opinion, this was by far the most spicy single traditional dish, meaning you don’t have to order it “extra spicy,” that I found in the entire month in Malaysia. You can add chili of course whenever you want, but this is the most chili that is in any of the traditional dishes around Kuala Lumpur. **Kelantan enjoys uniquely spicy food! It’s more similar to Southern Thai food
