Joel-Li, The Doi Mae Salong mountain area reminds me of Kandy Sri Lanka. Similar cultures, but the difference is the Tea. Our tea is black tea, Renowned to be the best in the World Enjoyed the video. One advantage we have is about 75% of the population speaks English. Even in rural areas. Safe travels. Mano. (Baltimore)

I wasn’t so crazy about the chicken either!! 🤣 Those murals are fabulous; if the entire village is decorated like that and with the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains, what an amazing place to call home!! I have a few pea plants coming to their end as it’s getting too hot for them to grow; instead of throwing them in the compost bin I’m going to cook up the leaves and serve it with rice … I didn’t know the leaves are edible. I’m also not a fan of the steamed buns - don’t like the sweet taste. Enjoy the rest of your stay. Much love 🥰🥰🥰

Hello, you two! 🙏 Yet another really lovely video. 😁 At the beginning of the video you said you would be drinking some tea. I paused the video, and I thought I would prepare myself for this adventure. I watched this video at about 8.30 am, so instead of making myself the usual morning coffie, I made a pot of tea 😲. But then came the food... Luckily I went to the asian shop yesterday and have the possibility to make both somewhat chinese and thai dishes tonight 😁 Btw: we can get fresh durian here now. About 25 us dollars a kilo. (250 norwegian kroner/ 250 NOK) and 50 dollars a kilo for the ones already peeled and put in takeaway plastic boxes. Strangely, the shop didn't stink 🍈 Have a great day! if you two are going to Yunnan in the future, there are Hmong in Yunnan, Guizhou, Sichuan, and other southern Chinese provinces it will be a totally different experience because the Hmong there still keep the old traditions than the Hmong in Thailand, Laos, and overseas (US, Canada, France, French Guiana, and Australia)

Have been visiting there for many years. From the view, it looks as if there are many large new buildings there now. Thankfully I still have some old photos and videos from long ago. Sadly as I thought it's really changed. It really looks unrecognizable from when I was there last not long ago. The former King's mother's ashes I believe are in the upper portion of the mountain temple. Back in about 2004, the temple was finished. It is rarely if ever opened. I was lucky enough to go inside and take photos long ago. Where did you stay and how much a night? The Muslim family where you ate before had a few rooms for rent.

Joel-Li, The Doi Mae Salong mountain area reminds me of Kandy Sri Lanka. Similar cultures, but the difference is the Tea. Our tea is black tea, Renowned to be the best in the World Enjoyed the video. One advantage we have is about 75% of the population speaks English. Even in rural areas. Safe travels. Mano. (Baltimore)

Was there ever a time when you experience something like that in your lifetime too? A word about the black chicken-the Hmong people believed the same thing like Li was saying. Black chicken is supposed to be a really good medicine for women in the Hmong village. You probably already noticed this right away because Chiang Mai raised a ton of black chickens.

I wasn’t so crazy about the chicken either!! 🤣 Those murals are fabulous; if the entire village is decorated like that and with the natural beauty of the surrounding mountains, what an amazing place to call home!! I have a few pea plants coming to their end as it’s getting too hot for them to grow; instead of throwing them in the compost bin I’m going to cook up the leaves and serve it with rice … I didn’t know the leaves are edible. I’m also not a fan of the steamed buns - don’t like the sweet taste. Enjoy the rest of your stay. Much love 🥰🥰🥰

I am loving the artwork Joel! So much detail and life in the images. The food as always looks delicious. One could get a great workout living in that area with the steep hills. Hey Joel the “nose” knows! I remember the black chicken from an episode with Mark. The soup looks sooo soothing. I’m in California in July and I have hot tea daily. It’s so cold here to me. Especially since the hospitals are freezing cold inside. Chilies with lime is heaven 🌶🌶🌶🌶

Yet another really lovely video. 😁
At the beginning of the video you said you would be drinking some tea. I paused the video, and I thought I would prepare myself for this adventure. I watched this video at about 8.30 am, so instead of making myself the usual morning coffie, I made a pot of tea 😲.
But then came the food...
Luckily I went to the asian shop yesterday and have the possibility to make both somewhat chinese and thai dishes tonight 😁
Btw: we can get fresh durian here now. About 25 us dollars a kilo. (250 norwegian kroner/ 250 NOK) and 50 dollars a kilo for the ones already peeled and put in takeaway plastic boxes. Strangely, the shop didn't stink 🍈

Jackfruits are available in abundance at some stores here but sold by weight a whole one would be way too expensive; even the cut pieces are $$$ so it’s a treat either way. I’ve not seen fresh Durian yet.

I live in Norway. I like jackfruit very much, and it is not quite as expensive as durian, and somewhat 'fresh' available most of the year. 🍈

I didn’t know the leaves from the pea plant is edible; I have a few plants that’s nearing the end so I’m going to pull them up and sauté the leaves with garlic, onions and chilies and serve it on rice with toasted sesame seeds and a dash of Tamari sauce - that should make a light enough supper if it turns out OK. 😄🥰🥰🥰🙏

Saibaidee Joel and Li! Food looks so SAAP! Soup and burger cheers. I had a burger today and made Tom Ka Moo for dinner. Black Chicken is such a treat! Although, it taste like, well chicken, it's not something eaten often. They say it has medicinal values but I've never noticed anything different. That beef soup reminds me of Tom Kueng Nai that my dad makes. Hope all is well my guy!

it will be a totally different experience because the Hmong there still keep the old traditions than the Hmong in Thailand, Laos, and overseas (US, Canada, France, French Guiana, and Australia)

Have been visiting there for many years. From the view, it looks as if there are many large new buildings there now. Thankfully I still have some old photos and videos from long ago. Sadly as I thought it's really changed. It really looks unrecognizable from when I was there last not long ago.
The former King's mother's ashes I believe are in the upper portion of the mountain temple. Back in about 2004, the temple was finished. It is rarely if ever opened. I was lucky enough to go inside and take photos long ago. Where did you stay and how much a night? The Muslim family where you ate before had a few rooms for rent.
