After 3 days of using both monitors I can say that they are both awesome. But which is better? I haven’t decided yet… Samsung has nicer minimal design, remote controller, smart tv features, weak but built in speakers, and more settings. But ASUS image is somehow more life like, more dramatic and natural + glossy panel which looks better during the day with deeper blacks and nicer colors. I played with Samsung settings to make it look like ASUS, but still, with small differences, ASUS image wins to me. Which monitor to buy… still a question. I hope to know the answer in a week or two.
I believe the UCDM is better calibrated in both SDR and HDR mode, according to some reviewers? Not sure about this because from my experience, Samsung is very bad at producing accurate monitor.

You're doing god's work, I managed to grab the Samsung for a deep discount, with the difference in price being close to $1500 AUD in favour of the Samsung. While I do agree the Asus’s glossy coating is better, the difference seems small enough “especially in a dark room” that I'd rather save the $1500. Thanks again for the videos!
@@Irritategaming The G8 took about a week to arrive. I have a first gen QD OLED in the AW3423DW and comparing the two I can honestly say you would be splitting hairs as to what one is better than the other. What it inevitably comes down to is the formfactor, features, and price. When you're going QD OLED or even WOLED you can't really miss, just get whatever is cheapest in the size and with features you desire. Saying that, I will not miss the active cooling on the AW3423DW, the fan noise on that one was not the best, otherwise it is an amazing monitor.
@@Crankier thanks for replying. I just purchased this morning, it will be my first OLED Monitor, I’ve only ever used matte screens and IPS. I definitely agree with the price $1500 is a absolute steal for this considering it’s originally 2k and any other similar monitors out there is going for 2.1-2.3k Do you have any issues with it? Have heard things like the display port showing black screen randomly to things like the back panel ports are cheap and move with pressure?
@@Irritategaming I remember watching a review that mentioned the back panel I/O being loose. Luckily that no longer seems to be an issue with current revisions, as my G8 I/O is solid. I also have no issues with the display port showing a black screen, the output is fine and at the max refresh rate.
When viewing in a dark room with lights off, do you notice a difference in shadow detail and black crush? I've seen reports that many of these OLED monitors crush blacks in HDR. You can find some HDR black clipping test patterns online to check. Ideally you want a monitor to show all the gray steps above 64 with these patterns.
In Samsung you can change shadow details by making them darker or brighter as you like. In ASUS this option is there but I can’t click it I don’t know why.
@@BenGeskinTech Thanks for responding. Can you please post the Samsung picture settings that you used in this comparison? Either here or video description would be fine. What picture mode did you use (standard, movie, eco, etc.) and which settings did you modify from default values? Thanks.
In your opinion, which one is better between asus pg32ucdm monitor and samsung odyssey g80sd? Your opinion is important to me because you have experienced both.
Hi I have the old miniled G8, and want to upgrade to this OLED version. For my miniled one i maximum brighness is 50 percent, do you think this oled version can reach 50 percent of miniled one? They all say that the brightness of oled panel has been a problem, so i am kinda worried.
I have the Neo G8 as well, and if you only go to 50 you should be ok with the OLED. Some people really like to burn their eyeballs or have their setup in a bright room that's why they say that it's not bright enough.
Never use angle to a side by side shoutout....even the image on OLED has best viewing angles, the human eyes will see a distorted image. Always put them side by side in same plane.
Asus looks natural and better calibrated. Samsung color vibrancy is too much that it already look cartoonish. But design wise I lean towards Samsung, leaning towards simple aesthetics than gamery aesthetics. Been using Odyssey G7 QLED for 3 years now and looking for an upgrade. IMHO, Samsung is a great buy, well that's the case here in PH, Asus is 320 USD more than Samsung. Great Comparison tho! Keep it up!
When looking at that first Cyberpunk comparision, the Asus does look more clear, and better to me. Of course I'm not saying the Samsung looks bad, but I think it's the image quality difference is noticeable side by side. I'd still pick the Samsung though, you actually have hardware calibration settings, you can access the service menu to disable things like ASBL, and you have a TV OS.
I am watching this video from my PG32UCDM, I see absolutely no difference in both monitors, the advantage would be that the ROG looks good day and night, the Samsung does not, the quality of materials of the ROG is superior, and with some more extras , but both are excellent monitors.
Uhh no, maybe it's the camera or the config but the asus looks substantially better here to the point where i'm wondering if the samsung is even in peak 1000 mode.
In person that is not true. The MSI blows away the Samsung in picture quality and depth. I have the Aorus on the way because I returned the MSI cause it was used. I will decide between the samsung and the Aorus when it gets here. The samsung is good, don't get me wrong. I love the build and smart features but the coating holds it back
I just returned my Samsung. The great look is spoiled by that silver bezel and emphasizes that the screen doesn't go all the way to the edge. In the first two hours after I changed my old monitor (Samsung G 70) I thought they sent me a damaged monitor because the picture doesn't go to the edge. The remote is a great thing as well as the samsung eco system (the monitor immediately recognized my samsung bluetooth headphones) But I decided to return it because I had a bad experience with samsung customer service when ordering. This continued later when the monitor was supposed to arrive but no one from Samsung cared where the monitor was or wanted to help me. Literally like I bought from some Ebay seller. Even the process of returning the monitor took 6 days. It took them 4 days to answer me, only to say "We can not reach to you on that phone number", in the end they closed the ticket without answering me. Terrible service and they have no desire to help customers. I'm pretty sure returning a monitor due to a burn in problem would be a Sisyphean job requiring endless patience and effort.
From what I can see, the sharpness is way better on ASUS, and some specific brighten areas look better processed. I have in front of me the SAMSUNG G80SD. It is a really fantastic monitor, the matte coating is the very best I saw in my life until now, and the text fringing on the SAMSUNG is very, very minimal, at the point I can't see it without my progressive glasses, and very rare also with them. This is a fact to mention, because I had also the 32 Inch GIGABYTEFO32U2 at home in testings, and oh my GOD, the fringing was something I couldn't go over. So for the ones who : 1. Work/play in sunny environments the SAMSUNG is the better option. 2. For those who work on the same monitor, if you want it to be a QD OLED it's 100.00% SAMSUNG, because of the lack / minimal fringing. The text is really, really good and sharp. 3. For those who want also a smart TV and onboard sound it's definetively SAMSUNG. Now, for those who want the BEST OF THE BEST IMAGE AVAILABLE ON ANY COMMERCIAL MONITOR, the sharpest one, G SYNC Certified (SAMSUNG isn't) and game feature full monitor it's the ASUS 32 UCDM. And in the end, for those who want the best MONITOR for gaming, future proofed for the next gen GPU's : ASUS 32 UCDP or LG 32GS95, both being 1080p 480 hz capable, having both LG panels with no black crush at light, better contrast, and white that is really white not pinkish. I haven't seen one until now, but from the few reviews I saw, the ASUS 32 UCDP is the GOAT. And it's also matte.

Clear asus
The most striking difference is at 0:17 where the object shininess is a lot more pronounced on the asus. Also visible with the teapot just after.
That could easily just be due to a difference in white balance between the two monitors or even the angle lol
