    I've also found the coating on the LG OLED monitors to be quite good. It retains black in all the lighting conditions I have in my viewing area, where the QD-OLED panels immediately get lifted and have that tint to them.

      Certain bright/saturated colors are likely undersaturated with woleds, you should use the left one (Samsung) as reference for a more accurate HDR panel, not the right one. *Forgot to add, the technology difference no effect on white balance inaccuracies, so any inaccuracy caused by white balance can vary with both.

    I have a question, because something is strange. Samsung seems to have also dimmer colors, I think something is wrong with your calibration. That can;t be right for the sole reason thhat regarding colors volume and color vibrance, nothing beats SAMSUNG's 3rd GEN QD OLED's and especially SAMSUNG ONE's monitor which is the most over saturated.

    The facade of Big Ben is much more clearly in details on Samsung 32GS95UE than LG 32GS95UE at 1:28! But the star pattern paint of ceiling is quite sharp on LG 32GS95UE camparing with 32GS95UE at 1:56. The picture colour of LG is much more saturation than Samsung I think. Samsung looks a bit wash white on picture colour.

    I watched the video on an IPS/OLED monitor.
    At night, everything indicated that the Samsung had a brighter backlight and a red color, but when I saw this video again this morning, but during the day, the LG seems to be much better, it has a depth as if hgig was running, and there was also a red color when playing Returnal , these lasers look naturally better than Samsung during the day, but these are my observations.
    I'm curious about the hdr tone mapping function and whether it changes anything.

      Yes. The black crush is greatly improved in both peak brightness high and low but the high setting is still over brightening content too much. I also didn't really note any improvement to actual HDR highlight brightness like people claim online.
      Its in a much better state now but they really need to better optimize the high peak brightness setting.

    Great comparison! One question regarding game mode on the G80SD: In HDR, when connected over DP and peak brightness set to high, is the monitor clipping at the correct value at 1000 nits or 400? There is a bug on the old 34-inch ultrawide G8 OLED which doesn't allow 1000 nits clipping with peak brightness set to high. It always clips at 400 which is wrong. very frustrating and i do wonder whether this is fixed on the new model or not. but it's only bugged on DP, not over HDMI

    • @SolaceinScrutiny
      @SolaceinScrutiny  3 месяца назад +2

      Thank you. Let me verify this for you a bit later today. The video was shot with it connected via HDMI where it correctly clips at 1000 nits when peak brightness is set to high. I'll swap over to DP and see how it behaves.
      EDIT: I can confirm that over DP it clips correctly with peak brightness set to high. It actually clips at 1080nits. Medium clips just a bit over 400 and off clips at around 370. Setting it to off further brightens high APL scenes compared to medium.

      It really depends what kind of gaming you intend to do and the hardware you have available. For example if its competitive gaming mixed with some slower paced single player stuff the LG has an advantage thanks to its 480hz refresh rate toggle. Outside of the specific esports titles, I personally think the QD-OLED monitors like the Samsung have a slight edge in overall picture quality.
