It's important to mention that Edpi is only universal to a single game since different games use different sensitivities. That's why measuring cm per 360 degree turn is the most accurate for cross game sensitivity comparisons.
Cing Kole amen
@@faranocks computer science student/hobbyist game dev here. This is because when mouse movement is 'polled' especially in modern first person engines/games is taken directly from the hardware (more commonly referred to as raw input). What happens with that data largely depends on the game/engine itself like you said why there is difference in sensitivities engine to engine because those 2d plane deltas must be translated into 3d space (yaw, pitch), and different games/engines handle the math differently. It also has less to do with "resolution" (screen space) and more to do with aspect ratio and FOV and maintaining a relative speed.
or just fuckin use the comfortable sensitivity for yourself
Indeed! I use 25cm per 360 in every game
Totally agree. If you only move your mouse 4 inches left and right of center and that comfortable for you and you play well with it. The total 360 in inches is 8. You should use total 360 in inches or Cm. You can keep whatever DPI you want. In-game sensitivity you would adjust to your total 360 in inches or Cm.

Great content as always, thanks mr. Rambo. Just as a suggestion, I think you should mention something about Windows sensitivity, that pretty much everybody set as 6 (half) but many people don’t know about that (like me when I started). I love short videos like these.
Would have loved to hear about mouse accel as well? Few pros use it most notably Swag but still a lot of confusion regarding what it really does. But great video as always Ron. 🤘🤘
Mouse accel is an effect I believe thats caused by windows. Basically, when you move the mouse an INCH it goes so far depending on your DPI. With mouse accel, the same inch on the mouse may translate to 2 or 3 inches on screen depending on how fast you moved your mouse. So, in theory, it's a Bad Idea to keep it enabled because you may find it difficult to be accurate with flick shots because of the speed you are moving the mouse.
All you have to know about it: your aim will not be better under any circumstances with acceleration. Turn it off in windows mouse settings, (the box that says enhance pointer precision in the sens menu.)
Turn it off, it will make your muscle memory confused and not consistent.

Mouse: Model O Minus
DPI: 400
Polling Rate: 500
eDPI: 920
Both CS:GO and Apex are Source Engine so the sense feels close enough to identical to me. I don’t play CS:GO much so I can’t give a rank but in Apex Legends I am Apex Predator.
Also the biggest reason I switched to 500 from 1000 is because I felt like my movements were detected *too much*, like my mouse was sending more information than needed. My aim felt jittery on a pixel-level, but it was enough I could feel it. Once I swapped to 500 I immediately noticed less “noise” in my movement so to speak.
In my experience with apex, the higher my polling rate was, the more fps drop i experience moving the mouse around, so i put it at 250 and solved the problem
I have 13.30 ms
Thank you so much for this video. I just started gaming on a Logitech G502 mouse.
On Modern Warfare, I use a DPI of 500 and 8 sensitivity. It’s a total of 4000 EDPI.
I was looking at a Zowie mouse. So if I play on 400 dpi and 10 sensitivity, then I get 4000 edpi.
So with this said, both mouses will achieve the same sensitivity with these settings? Thanks.
yup it should feel exactly the same. I used to play CSGO on 800DPI 0.96 sens, but switched to 1600DPI 0.48sens and got the same feeling to preserve muscle memory
love your work and detail in your videos.
Thank you :)
Great video you deserve more subscribers
Great video! btw dont forget to set 6/11 on windows mouse sensitivity to get 1:1 raw mouse sensitivity. Also! its proven that increasing your mouse dpi high and keeping in game sensitivity low to match your edpi is better and it smoothens the movement but recommend to keep it below 3000 dpi cuz no point going any higher unless you got like a 8k monitor or smth. Cheers :D
Yeah true!
Can you go into more details on how and where this 6/11 is done?
@@yirmeyahugutz6217 in case you still didn’t know its in the mouse settings, it should by default be there tho, but turning off enhanced precision is useful.
It might be meaningless but going for highest DPI is better regardless, you get more accuracy and ALSO lower input lag, meaningless =/= worse, and actually it's not meaningless since you get less input lag.
Honestly there's way too many pros using low DPI which are just too stubborn to change to higher DPI and lower in-game sens, instead of keeping yourself handicapped just because you're used to it, it's better to play shit for a bit and get used to the higher polling rate and DPI, I did the same, went from a shitty 400 DPI mouse to a 25.600, always played with highest DPI and never looked back, it's honestly sooo much better, a nice mousepad also helps. :)
Make a macro that rotates 360 degrees perfectly every time. (To do this Set the mouse movement amount and time of movement to your current sensitivity.)
In the new game, shoot a bullet in a wall and press the macro. Adjust in game sensitivity until it performs a perfect 360 turn.
That's it.
Escape from tarkov laughs at you. Depending on how much weight you’re carrying the game messes with your sensitivity. Also when sprinting it lowers the sensitivity so you can’t whip side to side mid sprint.
Why would u spin 360 looking into exact same spot
Dead OnEntry are you braindead?
Dead OnEntry it’s to create a standardised test across all games
There is already a programm for that which is called sens matcher by kovaak
Great video. Do you know if there's any way to get an answer which incorporates acceleration? It's an interesting question for those that use it.
Another great video, man. Keept at it. Glad to see you around. Do guys like method still play the game?
when i tried that polling rate thing why i had like 900+ mouse events? and my hz go always over 1000hz at zowie Network help me pls..

@@SpectreFury ok i not using that mouse enymore but thanks.
@@luksu2171 why? Just adjust it. You’re not going to be perfect at headshots all the time. But it’ll make you a good player. Just use it.
Yes, there is a stark DIFFERENCE between high and low DPIs. If you have the same overall sensitivity using in-game tools for a low DPI and high DPI setup....like 800 DPI with 2x sens and 1600 DPI with 1x sens...these two setups will be noticeably different if you watch carefully. A very high DPI causes shaky movement especially if you have mouse acceleration to ON which hopefully no one does..but that is manageable. The problem comes with a very low DPI...if you have very low DPI but very high in-game sens it will cause a phenomenon called PIXEL SKIPPING. Here, the mouse movement will transfer to the screen as short burst of small pixel movement rather than a continuous long shift. If you see in slow motion you will the cursor on the screen is moving in short burst rather than a continuous long shift. Hope I cleared this myth.
SalmonSeasoning why didn’t you just change your windows cursor speed? Would that not work as well?
VACbOY pixel skipping actually occurs in the reverse of what you said - highest dpi setting on mouse, lowest sensitivity in game
VACbOY that’s why the majority use low dpi
short & sweet, thumbs up!
👍👍👍👍
I love your videos. Is centimeters per 360 not a good way to describe true sens?
The main reason I changed to 500 polling rate is because my old Deathadder gets hot on 1000PR. 500PR cooled it down significantly.
I also like the feel of 500PR since I don't play FPS games that much.
lmao just watercool ur mouse

Liked and subbed. Good stuff 👍

What about windows sensivity :p
It does make a difference if you don't have raw input 1
Can you elaborate on this?
@@yirmeyahugutz6217 I would suggest to turn on raw input if that's a option in the game, if not, make sure you set the windows mouse sens to 6/11
Just want to say, EDPI only works if the in game sensitivity is linear, for some reason Star Wars Battlefront 1 and 2 don’t have linear sensitivity settings
Anderson Bloemers whats that?
Amazing video as always. 400 dpi and 1.34 in game sens (536 edpi). I used to play with 400 and 2.5 sens and I couldn't hit headshots, flicks, etc. The way I found that my sens was too high: I just replayed my games in slow motion and realized I pass my flicks/headshots over enemy's hitbox. And when I played a lower sense I almost always shot before my crosshair reached the enemy.
Damn i play 400 dpi with 12.00 in game sense. I'm tryna find out what polling rate i should be using?
didnt knew that edpi thing but thats really nice to know especially i didnt knew which sens a friend of mine plays because he plays 8 8 600 dpi and couldnt find a sens calculator but now i know how to find these things out in general/without a sens calculator that its the same that i use ( 6 6 800 dpi) thx :D
Hey, Ron can you talk about how the CS:GO pros have their monitors i don't know some pros have their monitors diagonally and i wonder if you have any idea why.
Idk, diagonal monitor would just throw off the hand to eye coordination. You would want the monitor to be parallel to the ground horizontally and the x axis of the mouse to be parallel to the x axis of the monitor
@@lalchan you're right. But sometimes it has a few things to do with how they are seated.
For EDPI to work, you need raw input enabled. Also, there's actually a slight difference between using for example 400 DPI and 1600 DPI. Both DPI with the same EDPI, the higher DPI will be smoother than the lower DPI. Kind of hard to explain in short, so here's a video bananagaming made: /watch?v=QrF_e5vKqPk
Great video and appreciate your content a lot! Btw my EDPI is: 680
How to see in mobile
That's so low. Damn
btw apparently pixel jumping or skipping is a myth so appparently high dpi with lower ingame sens doesnt change anything
@@ryanlee9150 Wdym? But in any case, higher DPI while keeping same EDPI is ideal.
So in short always go for highest DPI for more accuracy, and if it's too fast simply lower the in-game sensitivity.

Hey Rambo, this video felt a little light. While it's all factual, there are some inferences to draw from the average eDPI. Such as, the total CSGO average eDPI tells us things about player hand mobility and dexterity. That there are physical limits to what is accurate and precise. Maybe you could describe situations where sensitivity matters, like Niko clearing connector in the previous hand grip video. And maybe talk about effective zoom sensitivity and awp styles!

SalmonSeasoning holy fuck thank you for this I’ve been searching for why pros use 400, so it’s worth swapping from 800 to 400 if my mouses native is 400 yes?
@@heiqt9591 I found for me that 600 dpi is best
@@heiqt9591 if you have a mouse that has a remotely modern sensor there's no such thing as native mouse resolution anymore. Sensors change on an internal software level so in essence any dpi setting is "native".
Higher dpi is basically better. The real reason so many pros use 400 is they came from a time when monitor and mouse resolutions were low and just got used to it. Now 400 dpi is practically ingrained into the culture of CS. But in literal terms the mouse is less accurate, pixel skipping is a thing and it's going to be jittery. Higher dpi, 800-3200 has a lot of inherent advantages.
Realistically in 2020 the only reasons to use low dpi are: low monitor resolution so it's practical to use low dpi; you prefer the jittery feel; you have shaky hands so actively want the mouse to pick up less of your fine movements (lowering polling rate can achieve similar). Although the lower your effective sensitivity (distance per 360) the less this matters. Most people won't benefit much if at all from higher dpi at lower sensitivities (~40cm+ per 360). At higher sensitivity (under ~25cm per 360) a player should consider trying 1600 dpi. If you talk to sensor engineers 1600-3200 is generally the optimal range for a modern mouse balancing sensor performance and practical use.
As always there are top players with every combination of settings, it's not settings holding you back (within reason). 'Better' settings won't magically improve your aim, but ideal settings might help you hit those 0.1% of shots, the super hard, unlikely, peak performance shots.
GhostSamurai nah man i found that my aim got much better at 400 dpi and for good reason, my aim is much less shaky just because of the way DPI functions.

@@calcado its all about preference but i feel like im more accurate with 400 dpi
Hello. You have forgotten to mention that an edpi varies between games. As their engines are not the same. There are supposedly concerters, however all you need to do is stay relative to the range of motion on your mouse pad and of course what works in that game.
CS:GO may favor nice low sensitivity.
Overwatch may favor somewhat higher sensitivity.
FORTNITE abaolutely favors a higher sensitivity.
R6 Siege may favor higher or lower, since tactics reign supreme while mechanics are still key.
Third per- and the list goes on. My point here is that you'd do better to find your cm/360.
This is measurement based on a full 360* degree rotation in game, in relation to how far you move your mouse on the pad.
Example: I use a 45.75 cm/360 in OW. Which is 8.50 in game sens to 400dpi or 1600dpi to 2.12/2.13 in game.
The problem here is that OW has a maximum 3digit value allowed for sensitivity tuning. 1.00-100 and asna consequence to that, you cannot do a decimal of 3digits over the two.
So one truly cannot convert all sensitivities sadly. However- most "flat numbers" work moreover. 1600 2 or 400 8.
800 4.
Anyway...I'm on my phone and I'm kinda tired yo. Peace.
I'm pretty sure that's one of the first things he said
Okay I’m confused where is the edpi I can’t find it all I see is my dpi and u talk about edpi Im so confused someone help please
Multiply your sensitivity and dpi and that’s your edpi(you have to use a calculator or use the mental math that your teacher thought you)
Ok if your dpi is 400 and sensitivity in csgo is 3 then your edpi is 1200 because you have to multiply your dpi and sensi with your brain or calculator
Carry’s audience Is NORMIE lols tanks
@@carrysaudienceisnormie6791 knowing you you probably used a calculator.
Am I right in thinking for any game the mouse sensitivity ignores the windows setting entirely? Otherwise it's the reason I use 1900 DPI because it moves across my screen at the right speed but I lower the sensitivity in games anyway. Not something I've ever entirely understood
You mentioned that you're playing with something around 2.00 for your in-game sensitivity. I'm using 1600hz DPI and when I'm playing Cod: modern warfare and set the sensitivity to 2.00, it's barely moving!! Does Cod use a different type of measurement unit or something?
400 dpi, 1.8 ingame (720 edpi)
idk how the fuck you guys use a 400dpi tbh lol
CSGO

i am not sure what kind of game you based the sensitivity of but i am play minecraft and the pvp is kinda hard especially with a new mouse
Hey there, I'm using 1000dpi with 2.1 in-game sensitivity on CSGO, Im alredy used to it, im currently ak1 on mm and my aim is good, but nothing crazy, tho. Should I try to chenge it to a lower EDPI or should I stay the same?
1000 eDPI, with a 2000dpi and 0.50 in-game sense.
