In the LN this fight went about quite differently, and made more sense. Demikas had the healers and mages hide in the forest. Shiroe was buying time for Akatsuki to silently kill their healers, thus the castle of stone and everything. IIRC, Serara's healing spell on "everyone" was to hide the visual cue that they were losing their healers, by continuing to show the healing visual effect on them. Also, Shiroe at the end decapitaded himself the head off Demikas, because in the LN everything is much more gory and the corpses will not disapear instantly like (usually, except in episode 2 when akatsuki dragged the two mage bodies) in the anime. This is kinda important latter on, but completely censored in the anime.They didn't change nyanta's line on not wanting to show too much blood to serara, though.
You're not wrong about the Attack on Titan vibes: The monsters around Susukino are mostly characterized as "Giants." Whereas Akiba has mostly Goblin and Rat-men types.

Nyanta is so dapper. He's my favorite character too. Top 3 are 1. Nyanta 2. Rudy (he's shown up before but hasn't been properly introduced yet) 3. Shiroe. Fun fact: In the dub, Nyanta is voiced by a black guy. To me, he sounds less dapper and more slick. Threw me off when I first heard it but it grew on me and it does kinda work.
I'm so hyped for the rest of these season, I know you'll get how interesting this Isekai is since it's not only about superficial and meaningless fights
Log Horizon with a total of 3 Seasons as of current... hopefully we get Season 4 some time later next year or something. Log Horizon really do show you that strategies triumph no matter how disadvantage you are as long as you play your cards right.
They do change his character though in relation to the original, but it still fits. A pity that Shiroe's dubber is so much worse, that I would not recommend the dub at all.
