Thank you for this video. Although I have sent an email to the professor and I am awaiting their response. I followed some of your points too. May I ask for you to do a video for a second email. Thanks Dr. Muyiwa
Dear Dr. Olumuyiwa, I hope my write up finds you in the very best of health. A very great piece the video is. Most of my concerns have been ironed out for me. However I am considering if the professor will not consider your attached document for the first time as a hack. Thank you for the help in advance.
GOOD Day Sir, I'm glad I stumbled on your youtube page. I'm interested in doing a PhD in pathology and laboratory medicine in British Columbia university and I found a professor whose research interest is very similar to mine. i don't know if you could help me with the cold email. I have drafted something but I just need it to be checked before I send it. i would be grateful if you could be of help, sir. thank you in anticipation.
Thank you Dr. Muyiwa. I've been following your tips for months now and I must say they've been very helpful. I was recently awarded a Commonwealth scholarship and I just want to know the best time to start applying for a PhD programme. I'm a bit concerned about starting too early, being that I'm just starting my MSc. and might not have much to say about my study experience. I'd appreciate your thoughts here. Thank you. Adedoyin.
Can you please make a review video of Mystrika. The tool seems quite affordable for cold email, looks decent at first look but not enough information in public domain.
Thank you Dr Igbalajobi. This video has been helpful in many ways. Please I would want to know if is a good idea to include the year in which you want to take the masters degree or PHD . For instance, You type in your email that " I would want to pursue this research in spring or fall 2023 academic year.
Thank you so much, Dr Muyiwa, for this insightful video. Please, I have a question. For someone who has started a PhD in his home country and wish to apply for another PhD abroad, in an area a bit different from the one you are researching on presently, is it advisable to mention that you have already started a PhD (in my second year), but want to switch to the potential professor's area? For instance, I am currently a PhD student in natural product chemistry in a Nigerian university, but I am applying for a PhD in medicinal chemistry abroad. So far, I have sent few cold emails to profs for advertised positions in medicinal chemistry, and I mentioned that I have started a PhD in natural product chemistry. One of the profs responded that my background fits best in natural product chemistry. Please, should I stop mentioning my current research experience in natural product in my sop and cv? The gap in my research journey will be so wide (about 6 years I finished my master's program) if I don't capture what I'm doing currently. Your response will be highly appreciated. Thank you so much for your time.
I would mention the PhD year as research associate position. It may be a red flag since most PI would require that you strongly state why you intend to leave your current program.
Thank you so much, Dr Muyiwa. Let me quickly change that section of my CV and SOP to research associate position. Thank you so much for your quick response. I have been your ardent follower on twitter and will keep following you, both on RUclips and twitter. Your scholarship tips have been helpful. Thank you and remain blessed.
Kindly bear with me, Dr. Where do I capture the research associate in my CV because I'm an academic staff of a uni. Should it come under research experience, professional training, work experience or volunteering experience? Please, kindly suggest where it is suitable to appear.
Thank you for such a detailed video. Please, I still get confused on how to access professors research works and their emails as well for a particular university. How do you go about it?

Good afternoon sir, How do i write a cold e mail to a Professor knowing fully well that i studied Economics as an undergraduate but willing to change to another field of study that has nothing to social sciences i mean sofware development and web technologies. so how do i go about this.

Thank you so much Dr Olumiyiwa . I'm about writing a cold email to an associate professor on the US . Please I'm confused on the title to use Is it Dr or professor?
Thank you so much for the information. I am currently planning to write to a potential supervisor in partial fulfilment of my application needs. I studied Biochemistry but I would love to further my masters in Microbiology. But my project research topic is quite different from his laboratory’s interest which I would love to research on. Do I just focus on his laboratory research and build my interest around it or do I look elsewhere for a supervisor in line with my undergraduate research work.
Thanks for the video, Dr. I've been wondering: if there's an advertisement and you're required to submit a cover letter, what information should the cover letter include? It seems similar to a cold email, and I'm trying to understand the differences.
Thank you Dr. Muyiwa. I am applying for Ph.D positionin plant pathology and my MSc thesis is in the line of Industrial microbiology ( Fermentation/production of weaning diet), but my undergraduate thesis was on the line plant pathology. In writing a professor for this position, Which of the research experience would be best to include in my cold? Or do I need to merge both research experiences in my letter.
@@scholarshipscafe hello doc, thanks for this, in a situation where your first degree research and masters research subjects are poles apart and almost can't be merged. Like drug formulations in undergrad and antenatal care in Masters, which do we highlight in cold emails?
Thanks so much for this. 1. Do one have to mention details of all the past degrees in the cold email? If yes, in what order and to what detail or extent. 2. Is this the same format to write a cover letter for an advertised position.

@@sanusiakintunde9548 Dear Professor XXXX I am writing to express my interest in a doctoral position in your group. I recently completed my Ph.D. in the laboratory of Professor. Dr. Reinhard Fischer. My bachelor’s thesis was on antibiotic resistance patterns of Escherichia coli and Enterococcus faecalis strains isolated from cow dungs across 10 local government areas of Ekiti State, Nigeria. The study which was commended as one of the best in the department showed multidrug resistance of both organisms to conventional antibiotics. I have also worked extensively on various bacteria such as Salmonella, Shigella, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas aeruginosa among others. In order to acquire more knowledge in the field of mycology, specifically fungal pathogenesis and to stay connected with academics, I started my Ph.D. in Professor. I investigated the role of the red (FphA) and blue (LreA) light photoreceptors and the interplay with the high-osmolarity glycerol (HOG) mitogen-activated protein (MAP) kinase pathway.
