The worst part is hearing a sample playing on the radio organically and thinking “ugh, really? What kind of radio station plays nightcore?”
respect the original artist, thinking like that is what makes people hate sampling. i understand you don't mean to be disrespectful as the remixes sound better to you, but some people see it as stealing and when you talk like that people think it proves their point

well, Sade's music is quite slow pased and nighty-like. So it mades sense.
I wonder if this is the reason why these parts are the most popular part of the album.
I think Geography is pretty dark as well. feels like you are trapped somewhere during the twilight and trying to escape.

Its mixed and mastered pretty amazingly, if you or i were to slow these tunes dow theyd just sound like shit, it takes a lot of work to get the samples to sound good
Vektroid certainly has great taste in music. I’m just wishing she’d come out of the woodwork and release another great vaporwave album.

It's amazing how much better this stuff sounds at half speed. Maybe we have been playing music wrong the past many thousands of years?
Crow Migration playing things slower/down tuned sounds "warmer" to our ears, that mixed with Modern production is what leads to it all sounding so much more modern than the original sample sources

I honestly don’t care what people say abt how it’s slowed down Nd shit you see the variety of genre it could take Nd sample to that shows how Vaporwave is unique it could be made from literally anything

I have a very sincere question, I hardly know a thing about music production and such, (though I enjoy music a lot) but...why is Discovery by Daft Punk often regarded as one of the best albums of the 2000's and a milestone when it comes to electronic music while Floral Shoppe (and Vaporwave in general) is seen as bad music that should not be considered music at all?
I watched a video, similar to this one, about Discovery and I must say that I felt disappointed feeling that the original songs sounded too similar, just pitched and stuff. But I keep seeing that it is a very respected record. What's the thing that Daft Punk did different and that Vektroid/Ramona didn't do? I have read comments that point out that Vektroid truly worked on those songs to make them sound different.
Again, I say this without mockery or trying to cause controversy, I am genuinely curious and wondering.
No one actually knows why. Many people don't even seem to know that Daft Punk used samples for their songs. I mean listen to "Robot Rock". That is literally a direct rip of "Release the Beast" by Breakwater
Detractors gonna detract, I guess. You'll find similar comments about Daft Punk and electronic music in general.
In the scheme of things, though, Floral Shoppe has clearly left a legacy behind, and there is clearly an audience for Vaporwave, so fuck it. Nevermind the assholes getting butthurt over other people not having fun the right way.

Honestly I thought daft punk would add something to the samples, I think they added some beats and not a lot more...
They will also tell you that Daft Punk paid rights for the samples, but the main point of vaporwave at the start was anticapitalism, so I don't see how having money makes them better, I really like this album
Daft punk was the first to do it. The way they chop stuff takes much more time and effort. Floral shoppe is very simple to make production-wise. At the end of the day, both sound really really good, but fame comes from where that good sound comes from: the artist, or the samples themselves.
They are both very different genres, Daft Punk make French House which also uses samples like Vaporwave, but not in the same context. While Vaporwave is more ambiance driven French House is built around by funky chops and loops.

I love the album and the genre, but wish the samples came more from consumer products, not from actually decent songs and albums.

chopped and edited also but that defeats the purpose of vaporwave. vaporwave is more about the feeling the songs provoke in the listener
From a technical standpoint I'd say it's more of a chopped and screwed remix.

Macintosh plus is one of Vektroids monikers. Vektroid is much less of a hack than this single album would give the appearance of.

People who say that Blank Banshee is the "lord of vaporwave" just have no fucking idea what the genre is about. Banshee does not contribute anything even remotely to classic vaporwave and its aesthetics.
Don’t get me wrong it sounds decent, but this is peak laziness. Slowing down a song and putting some reverb on it shouldn’t be concidered a talent.
You do realize Chuck Person/Oneohtrix Point Never and Vektroid practically started vaporwave as a satire of plunderphonics and commercialism, so it isn't supposed to sound like a "talent". Right?
