For some reason, this video is just so mesmerising in such a beautiful way. It’s just so crazy, it’s something about the mixture of 80’s and 90’s TV, strange CGI demonstration monstrosities and real life footage of the neon lights and roadways of 1990’s Japan. It’s incredible and surreal. This is a truly touching visual masterpiece and tribute to Macintosh Plus. Damn we have so much to learn about this video. People don't recognize just how deep it goes. Not only do its very visuals recreate the virtual plazas, the Auge-ian "non places" that modern capitalism creates through its constant deterritorialization of space in favor of creating consuming, consumable, easily-profitable "place", ie. the architecture and sci-fi futurisms which represent the apex of our modern trajectory towards capitalism, but it also recreates capitalism's modern ideological dissemination on the level of form, both in its conceit of being a program with "messages" and time-fragmentation like any modern complacency-sitcom as well as in its surprisingly naively simple thematic progression and associations between songs and visuals, which recreate in an accelerated exaggeration the ways in which capitalism makes us pretend to be children who can easily associate things with their referents, as opposed to the increasingly disembodied signifiers today, almost entirely severed from referential material content
