Thank you, Cheryl! I am going to give these a try. I have a teenager who likes to make soup and oatmeal, and this will help her so she doesn't burn her hands.
I just love how easy you make these bowls Wiyh your videos there is no need to buy expensive rulers that we would use only one time.. Thank you so much for the tutorial.I am going to make tons of them.
Just finished my first one! I’m so pleased! I’m not great at sewing (knitter here) but I’ve wanted to try quilting for a very long time when found this video. It isn’t perfection but it’s really good. What a great starter project! Once I get the hang of this everyone will have one! The first is for my friend who always uses tea towels.
Thank you for the great step-by-step tutorial! Your explanations are wonderful. This is a tutorial I would highly recommend to a beginning sewer because it is so thorough!
Yes‼️ Thank You for this excellent tutorial. I am so excited to make this because they are so helpful. To heat up a bowl of food with this “insulation” makes for a safer way to handle a hot dish. Also a cold dish of ice cream will now be tolerable to hold. Your systematic and calm delivery is so greatly appreciated too❣️
I just love how you take time to give steps on all of your instructions. I'm New at sewing, and I have LEARN so much from watching you. AGAIN thanks and GOD bless you
I watched this video, about 4 times and finally felt like I could do the project. I just finished it and used fabric left over from the valances I made some years ago. It isn’t perfect but fits my soup bowl perfectly. I would like to do 2 or 3 more. Thanks for your great tutorial. You are the bees knees. Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Gerri
I think I have watched every bowl cozy video out there, but yours is the best! I especially like the extra quilting lines, which helps the cozy keep its shape after washing. Thank you for this wonderful video!
I really like your video of the Cozy. Very detailed and much better than others I have seen. I like that you took time to "quilt" the piece before going forward. Many do not do this step!
Love your videos, you explain really good especially for me who doesn't really sew that good. I have the wrap n zap cotton batting would i still need two pieces or could i get by with just one. Thank you
I love your tutorials and have made a few of these cozys using wrap n zap because it's the only microwave safe batting I know of but when I wash my cozy it seems to be a bit bulky and I need to reshape it a bit, just wondered if that's normal for everyone or should I use a different thinner batting?
@@TheSewingRoomChannel I normally just do the x through the fabric in the beginning to keep the batting and fabric together but I will try making a few more quilt lines in it to secure things, thanks for the helpful response.
You can heat in these cozy’s Only heat in them wash them on gentle n hang to dry. Also use them to hold your ice cream bowl n your hands won’t get cold.
Hi mmwheatley. I buy fabric from many different stores and websites: Joann Fabrics and Crafts, Walmart, equilter.com, fabric.com, and quilt fabric shops. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Can you use flannel instead of the regular cotton fabric? Im not sure if flannel can go in the microwave. I have some wonderful flannel christmas fabric and want to use that.
The batting has to . be 100% batting , not 100% with scrim as that is not safe in microwave. l use the zap and go , it is dearer but the safest to use in the microwave. Everything being all cotton , cotton thread , cotton material and cotton batting. So be aware of the batting that says 100% and check if it has scrim in it.
HI , I'M DEBBIE FROM PA. MY QUESTION IS DO YOU WASH AND DRY MATERIAL FIRST? I RECEIVED A BOWL COZY AND WHEN I WASHED IT IT BECAME OUT OF SHAPE AND I BELIEVE IT SRANK. I WANT TO TRY YOUR PATTERN .WHAT TO DO?
Hi Debbie. Yes, wash and dry the fabric. Do a zigzag stitch on the two raw edges of your fabric so that it does not unravel during the wash and dry cycle. Stay safe. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
Hi! I have a question, I am making six cozy’s but just realized I am using polyester threads!!! Is the polyester thread going to ruin the bowl in the microwave?
Hi Betty. Polyester fabric and thread should not be used in the microwave because it can overheat and melt/burn. You should use 100% cotton. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
I have a question about the cotton fleece. I bought Wrap n Zap but it seems quite thick when I look at yours. Can you advise me if there are different weights?
Hi Eileen. I recommend you go to the website. They will explain the differences and state the uses for all their products. Thanks for watching and happy sewing.😍
Hi Pamela. I don't have measurements for other size bowls. Here is a suggestion: cut a large piece of fabric; place the bowl in the center; on opposite sides of the bowl pinch the fabric to make a dart (4 darts total); pin the fabric then stitch. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
There is a potato microwave baking bag that's made from 100% polyester fabric, batting and thread. I've made both Cozy and potato bags from cotton and polyester that works well in microwave. Feel free to use leftover fabric as long as there is no metal hardware like snaps and buttons.
Hi Diane. I have never used it before. But I worry if it is fusible, there is some type of glue on it. I don't know if it would catch fire or burn. I recommend you use non-fusible 100% cotton batting. Anything else might burn. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
Hi Linda. There are many places to get the rotary cutter rulers-- Joann Fabrics and Crafts (use a 50% off coupon), Walmart (not all Walmart stores have a fabric and craft dept), Amazon.com, and many other internet fabric websites. Happy sewing.
Hi Brenda. Pin the darts on the first layer of fabric. Insert the bowl and then re-pin the darts to fit your bowl size. Hope this helps. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing. 😍
Hi Jan. This project pattern is from the pellonprojects.com website. They recommend Pellon 100% cotton batting Wrap-N-Zap. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
Thank you for your bowl video Do you have a pattern for a dinner plate pattern as my grand children and I am sure others as well. Like to sit by the tv and eat (naughty kids ) 💕💕
Hi Anahit. My favorite fabrics to use for baby quilts is "panel" fabrics. They are a large piece of fabric with a theme on them. They can have animals, cartoon characters, trains, etc. I usually put a small order around the edges to make the quilt a little larger. Look in the children's fabric section or go on the internet and check out some of the internet fabric stores. Just enter "panel fabrics" in the search block. Happy sewing.
Thank you, Cheryl! I am going to give these a try. I have a teenager who likes to make soup and oatmeal, and this will help her so she doesn't burn her hands.

All of my bowl cozies are worn out. I need to make some new ones.

Hi Devoria. I used a 90/14 needle. Thanks for watching, and happy sewing.
What are the dart sizes for the different size bowls?
