Thank you for the tips. I still am confused as to how to measure from cm to inches. I wish I had seen this video before I printed out 2 of your patterns on paper. Didn't think of printing out any other way, but I'll need to deal with it. Thanks for sharing your tips here!
Thanks Lisa for the video. I didn't realize using the interfaced felt I needed to watch my grain lines as well. Where I live in the mountains in the US it is a little hard to get some things without driving 60-70 miles to one of the chain fabric stores or ordering online and waiting. I made my own woven interfacing by using Heat n Bond lite on light weight Bleached Muslin. So far it has worked great for my felt and fabric parts. It is such a difference in 3 D sewing. Your patterns are super accurate. Thanks again for all the great videos and patterns. Your teaching style is thorough and easy to comprehend.
I am up in Northern Idaho and very rural. I know exactly what you are talking about, closest store to me is forty miles away. Been ordering ahead with winter coming.
This is great for those of us who've had no formal training. My mom showed myself and my sisters basic sewing, the rest I've learned on my own. Thank goodness for YT. Thanks again for your tutorials.
I am glad I found this video, I have been cutting out a seem allowance and sewing directly on the pen mark. I didn’t know that was wrong. So thank you.
Oh Lisa u got me pegged. I am a tailor for the last 30 yrs and u would be correct, that is exactly what we do. If it's a little off on the pattern we will fudge it later, no worries..lol I cut out my first Lisa Pay pattern last night and I pinned it and cut it and recheck just to make sure by just laying the pattern piece on top of the already cut pieces and found I needed to trim. So glad I just watched this video before I did anymore. As a tailor u really need to re-adjust your mind set. It's definitely is a different learning curve. Back to basics you r so right. You are really teaching me some new skills. It's true u can teach a old dog new tricks...🤔😉
@@payitforward9442 I am in awe of u.🙆xx It's a whole different animal between draping and creating a pattern and the patterns u make. So much detail has to go in to it to get it right and have a realistic look. I really look forward to using these new skills your teaching me.xxx
Thanks Lisa! Excellent info ! My grandma used to tell impatient me when I was a child “your finished product will show all your shortcuts - so do everything with purpose - as if You are going to give it to creator . That smartened little me up!.
Loved the tutorial once again. Those tips will come in very handy. University starts again in just over a week, so I am working on my first art quilt to get me back into experimenting and creating. It may not turn out how I would like it to, but that doesn't matter because I am enjoying doing it and most importantly, I am learning all the time.
This definitely helps a lot. I also need to sit a prep felt sheets I use the colors a lot of with Heat n Bond, and interfacing, that way when I need certain colors, I already have the felt ready, and just need to cut off whst I need.
Thank goodness Carl put me on track to watch this fab little video Lisa. Interestingly I also do not like surprises so am sure these tips will help me out. Thanks again to both of you for so freely sharing xx
Thank you for this tip, in how to lay out your pattern on cardboard to print and fabric how to cut your fabric perfectly . Your projects are so wonderful and beautiful. You inspired me in making your projects.
Very informative. I didn’t realize you had this video. I’m glad I watched it. I’ve been doing it all wrong by pinning patterns. Your way is so much better. Thank you! Take care!
Thanks for this video I have learned a lot from it I know how I have made some mishaps on cutting my material and using a little heavier printer paper. Love your videos.
Thank you, such useful tips, as always loved this tutorial. I can't wait for your tutorials, you inspire me and I gain confidence with each one because of your instruction and teaching style. 😊💕
Wo this tutorial is so helpful. Never too late to learn the basics. Much thanks again. This is so going be my new hobby esp with your detailed explanation 😘
A very clear and useful video Lisa ! I tend to pop a weight on my pieces to help keep them in place whilst I go round them. I must look at getting your patterns - so generous ! Thankyou to a lovely lady.
Awesome channel Lisa Thanks so much for taking the time to explain everything so clearly. Oh and I might mention while admiring your gorgeous hair I suddenly noticed you had grown antlers at 00:17 :P :)... Sorry never mind me It's late and I need to get some sleep.
Loving all your patterns and tutorials,I want to make them all. Can I ask if you have ever made a mermaid?perhaps you have a pattern already. Now which design to start with.
Hi Lisa! thank you so much for this tutorial. It is very useful indeed. As I am in the UK and new to this type of stitching, please could you make a tutorial on what backings you use, maybe a link to check where to find. Also how you fuse them with tge iron etc Basically how you would prepare all the part to put together as one Many Thanks in advance xxx
Very useful, thank you! Cutting is my least favourite part too! You just can’t mess it up or everything goes wrong! What do you do with your scraps? I hate throwing out fabric, but I end up with so many irregular shaped scraps and tiny scraps, I don’t know what to do with them.
Hi Esther, I have to be honest, I don’t keep tiny scraps unless they have Heat/Bond on the back, iI find them very useful for other projects. And my latest patchwork designs do make use of some of them!🥰
Just found you! I see your French Bulldog on the back wall. Just lost my Frenchie, Cooper, who looks exactly like him. PLEASE, where can I purchase this pattern?
I have a question for you, what if you don't have a printer ? Because I don't have one there are some of your pattern that I would like to make. So know I can't make them I like whatching your sewing shows.
For the life of me I can’t seem to find any real medium weight WOVEN interfacing either locally in stores or online like Amazon. Even reviewers say the one Pelion brand of woven interfacing is very flimsy. I am wondering if it would be crazy to use the flimsy stuff twice as in fuse it to the felt once, let it cool, and fuse it a second time to the already interfaced side? I have made teddies etc previously, but I have learned of so many tips, tricks, sewing best practices for the little pieces here, that I hate to just go for it and end up disappointed. Any ideas?
Hi Laura, I’m in Australia and buy mine from an online supplier here, it is called Voodoorabbit.com I’m fairly sure they ship overseas? You could try doubling up on a scrap and see how that go’s. Or, you could create your own fusible interfacing using Fusible web and a similar medium weight cotton fabric. I hope this helps 🥰
This was very helpful. I couldn't help notice you positioned yourself perfectly with the antlers on the back wall ~giggle~.
I noticed that too tee hee!
Hahaha! I was waiting for that! I saw it whilst editing and couldn’t stop laughing!😂😂🥰
