Kobe Bryant greatest games: 38pts vs TMac - 24pts in 4th quarter (2004)

  • (2004) 38pts - 37 in the 2nd half while shutting down Tracy McGrady with great defense
    Kobe didn't hit a single basket in the first half. TMac appeared to go on another scoring outburst with 32pts through three quarters.
    Kobe started to find his rythm entering the 4th with L.A trailing by 15. The result?
    A 4th quarter to remember, with Kobe scoring a then franchise record 24pts while playing terrific defense on McGrady, limited the Magic star to only 5pts.
    The game went to OT and despite Kobe scoring explosion, his biggest play may have been his assist to Payton's big three in the final minute to take the lead - and the thrilling victory.

    I love 81, 65, 62 in 3 quarters, 42 in one half against MJ, and 60 to finish his career... but this is my favorite Kobe game. 37 in the 2nd half and shutting down t Mac in his prime. We'll never see another Kobe

    Say what you want about Kobe Bryant, nobody in NBA HISTORY gets as HOT as Kobe Bryant. "Kobe Fire" is really a different kind of fire. We will never see someone as offensively gifted (not to say kobe wasn't an elite defender for 12 straight years) and with the most offensively evolved game for the next 100 years. Pure fundamental and skill meets STEEZ. Respect the legend...NBA will NOT be the same when he is gone. Enjoy it while it last

      I have to agree with that stats don't lie although he may not be as consistent as Jordan while both in their Prime, Kobe holds a higher record with most points in a half than Jordan, Kobe scored 62 points in 3 quarters, showed us a point streak that only happened during Wilt chamberlean's era. And you know I'm forgetting the most important part which is 81. And even now with the league being much more designed for offense no one has broken Kobe's 81 point game. | watched Klay Thompsons's 60 points in 3 quarters, it was a joke so many wide open shots and easy baskets unlike Kobe's 62. The closest thing would be Bookers 70 point game and that's it.

His head was all messed up. Then at halftime, he said screw it. Basketball is my haven, and like that the Black Mamba was born.

    • @zakim3O

      Lebron is a different player he is a Magic Johnson who can score. Please don't compare him to Kobe and Tmac which are pure breed dominant scorers. But would have loved to see all three in their primes going at each other that would be a Golden day for the NBA.

      @BoSsCWOM 8 лет назад

      +Nate Rivers bruh i understand what you're saying they would definitely murder in that era. but look up old videos of wilt. the moves look basic and even sloppy at times but the freakish athleticism and the blocks and rebounds even if it was against white boys who couldnt jump was impressive. 50pts and 25 rebounds. i don't care what era it is Kobe Lebron or Wade couldn't average that in a season. Wilt to me is top ten and the greats are to be respected in my opinion. If you watch larry bird in the 3 point contest you'll see that he would do just fine in this era as dirk did being a weak defender. Magic was a wizard and a man who could score 38 thousand off of a hook shot from 15 to twenty feet would still dominate now because you can't block the shot. Wilt was 7'2 could bench 600 when he was with the lakers and when he was with the sixers could jump from the freethrow line same as Bill Russell. With this era's trainors?!?! They'd be top players in the league.

    Kobe recent interview
    I always wanted to see you play Tracy McGrady.
    "I played T-Mac. I cooked him. Roasted him. Wasn’t even close. Ask him, he’ll tell you. When I was about 20, we were in Germany doing some promotional stuff for that other sneaker company and we played basketball everyday. We were in the gym all the time. We played three games of one-on-one to 11. I won all three games. One game I won 11-2. After the third game he said he had back spasms and couldn’t play anymore."

    • @zakim3O
      @zakim3O 7 лет назад +5

      As far as consistency goes Lebron is the closest to Mike statwise more than Kobe but that is because Kobe was bombarded with injuries late in his carrier. With that said Even Jordan in his prime could not score 62 points in 3 quarters and 81 points. So I'd like to say Kobe in the modern Era was the most Explosive offensive player even today.

But 10 of kobe's points were with mj guarding him and vs 6 by mj. It was a fun match up that we should have seen more of since Shaq/pippen were out and the starters were playing pretty poorly for LA.

    that is the game to me that has ended the debate between kobe and t.mac.
    t.mac at his best is more talented that kobe.they both have jordan-like games but t-mac(again at his best) has more natural habilites..scores more easier.
    but the difference between the two is mentally,kobe is stronger in his head,more ambitious,works harder,more will to win and to shine...and that performance particularly was just crazy.
    the way,he challenged t-mac offense and defense,took over in the money time,crazy...

    • @CounterStrikeZer0
      @CounterStrikeZer0 7 лет назад

      this what iv been saying kobe has heart will to win a champion ship. but tmac has all that natural talent skills scores more easier. if u put kobe lebron tmac on the same team Tmac would take more shots and would score easier. while lebron kobe making play and score too

    if 6 rebounds, 4 assist, 2 blks & 16 pts in the 2nd half is being shut down, i don't know what shut down is anymore. when t-mac performed a shot attempt while being defended by kobe, t-mac was 2/5 for 6 pts and drawn a foul twice on kobe. when t-mac was being defended by someone else in the 2nd half t-mac was 4/12 for 10 pts. it looks to me someone else shut him down. can you say t-mac had a bad game?

    • @icesco415
      @icesco415 10 лет назад +1

      Kobe Jordan Michael Bryant looks like someone is a dumbass. know your facts. is like saying t-mac dropped 38 pts on kobe. how many times did kobe actually defend t-mac when t-mac scored. or when they said kobe dropped 53 on t-mac. t-mac got scored on twice by kobe and the rest was on battier. know your shit.

    • @icesco415
      @icesco415 10 лет назад

      Kobe Jordan Michael Bryant your dumb. if you want to bring stats. t-mac in his first 10 years of his career to kobe first 10 years. t-mac beats kobe in every category besides free throws. and kobe admit that t-mac was his toughest matchup. just stop embarrassing yourself.

    • @icesco415

      Kobe Jordan Michael Bryant So Stats doesn't introduce Statistically? wow your dumb.lol. kobe never made kwame brown good. kwame averaging 7.4 pts a game is good? t-mac made miller and garrity top 2 best three point shooters as a orlando magic franchise and got miller the rookie of the year by getting him involved. once they left their percentage went down. yao averaged 18 pts for 3 years. once tmac joined. yao got up to 25pts a game. stop. same amount as kobe. kobe led the league in shots 6 times. t-mac "0" hahahaha. get your shit right. and t-mac averaged over 20 shots 6 times in his career. kobe did it 12 times. stop saying things without a support. top 10? who was top 2 players in the league before t-mac ggot injured? kobe and t-mac it was the biggest debate in nba history for consecutive years. grammar? ok because this is english class. gtfoh. stop embarrassing yourself. it doesn't take multiple people to be in a chat to embarrass yourself.haha. stop it.

    • @icesco415
      @icesco415 10 лет назад

      your dumb that's because t-mac is not a ball hog he actually passes the ball
      kobe vs t-mac (shot attempts)
      1997-1998
      391/913=(ballhog) / 179/398
      362/779= (ballhog/ 168/385
      554/1183=(ballhog) / 459/1018
      701/1510 / 788/1724=(ballhog)
      749/1597=(ballhog) / 715/1586
      868/1924=(Ballhog) / 829/1813
      516/1178 / 653/1566= (Ballhog)
      573/1324 / 715/1660=(Ballhog)
      978/2173=(SUPER ballhog) / 410/1011
      813/1757=(Ballhog) / 638/1480
      775/1690=(Ballhog) / 548/1307
      I can see why Kobe Averages more points than t-mac.lmfao. im sure if t-mac shot more than kobe he will average more points per game just like he did only 3 times. so stop it look at how many more shot attempt kobe had that doesn't mean kobe better scorer he just shoot way too much. led the league 6 times in most shots attempted in a season.haha.pathetic
