  • (2003) "Heart of a champion".
    Rudy T said in the past to "never underestimate the heart of a champion". And when 3 times defending champion L.A faced a 27pt deficit vs the N°1 Mavs entering the final quarter, they know they had to turn into this expression.
    With only 6pts through 3 quarters, Kobe was more determined than anybody to show L.A has still it. KB was simply perfect in the 4th, scoring 21pts on 8/8 shooting, including the game winner with 8 sec remaining. Kobe lead his team to the 2nd greatest come back in NBA history, handing Dallas its 23 straight loss at Staples.

    It was just a better league back then. Every team had skilled players.
    Now a days the players are more athletic but less skilled

    • @joshuahaynes7128
      @joshuahaynes7128 6 лет назад +1

      Anderson A. I wouldn't even say players today are more athletic... the 90s and early 2000s had true elite big men and kobe and Iverson and prime TMAC and Duncan and Garnett and the most dominant inside force of the modern era shaq .. .. the only reason small ball works in today's NBA is cause the elite centers are gone... the 01 lakers would lock up the warriors of today ... Phil would slow the game way way down and bang inside with the diesel and then kobe would do his thing and big shot rob and Fisher would give curry fits... but in the end shaq would have the warriors whole frontline fouled out lol

    • @Riles3152
      @Riles3152 4 года назад

      Anderson A. FACTS. A much more physical, intense, competitive game back then. Guys weren't just talented and athletic, they KNEW how to play the game. The league today has been watered to just 3 point shooting and drives to the basket for the most part and the rules have essentially eradicated physicality out of the game. That's a huge reason why the scoring individually and collectively has increased so much. Just a different game today, and not for the better.

    Mj vs Kobe...... We all know Mj is the greatest. ... BUT. skill wise their was nothing that Mj did that Kobe couldn't do. Except his post game was better than Kobe.
    But then again Kobe was a better 3 point shooter and made the toughest shots look easy.
    It's a tough comparison when you look at strictly skillset

      +Anderson A. Kobe actually might of had a better post game, he worked with Hakeem a lot(not saying Kobe is better then MJ)
      It is a tough comparision, and it's a great comparison because they are the only two players who played with that full offensive threat style, could do everythign.

    Jordan's natural ability gives him the edge over Kobe. Jordan can leap higher, get fatigued later, and most importantly he was the best decision maker (i.e., Magic). Kobe has worked/practiced hard to elevate his game to a Jordan like level (playing defense and offense) and for that only; Kobe deserves to be compared to Jordan. KOBE IS < OR EQUAL TO JORDAN!
    In other words for those who will trash my comment, "Kobe isn't Jordan, but he sure as hell is the closest thing" -- Sir Charles

    @NallePu83 That's probably so. In that 2006 game, Kobe got to 81 because in the last couple of minutes in the fourth quarter, his team mates deliberately passed the ball to him and let him attack the basket as much as possible. He got fouled a lot of times too. I don't think anyone in any era who's a shooting guard can get to 81 points without the consent of ALL his team mates. You look at the last 20 points scored in that game. All were by Kobe. He's would need a lot more passes in the 90s.

    i understand that jordan is one the greatest NBA players of all time but, you also have to consider kobe, kobe is deadly when he caught fire, once he start feeling it theres not stopping him, even double teaming him will not make any difference, his shots are unblockable, that spinning fade away, thats why team doesn't try to block him they'll just try to block his view of the ring and hope for him to miss. you people worship MJ as if he is a GOD.

    You think that the best player is the one who won most titles???? Robert Horry got 7 rings but no one says that he is best ever. Believe me defence right now in nba is much better then in Jordan's days. I know Jordan is very good but i think Kobe is as good as Jordan or even better because he got more skills and he is shooting better over better defence.

  • @KingAri7
    @KingAri7 11 лет назад

    big lakers/kobe fan, but come on, now, Jordan would beat kobe in a 7 game series most definitely. Jordan was a bigger, stronger defender. Jordan took better shots and was more efficient than kobe. kobe sometimes can shoot you out of games with his bad shots. these two things would be the difference maker in a 7 game series between Jordan's team and Kobe's. kobe's been stopped in the finals twice. Jordan's 6-0 in the finals, 6 finals MVPs. Nobody could beat Jordan.

    Averages usually aren't that impressive. Take for instance MJ's three point shooting. He had a season where he played 17 games and averaged 50% on his 3 PT shooting. But when he plays 82 games it's like 20%.
    There's many factors that weigh in on the averages. It was impossible for Kobe to average 30.1 career ppg. Why? Because he started playing in the NBA when he was a 17 year old kid. Averaging 7.6 points off the bench. He had to build up his scoring. It took years for him to be at a great lvl

    But I certainly wouldn't trust him having the ball if my team is down 3 points and we need a three pointer to tie. Give it to Kobe, a fundamentally better player on all aspects and entangibles of basketball.

    This is my question: if kobe has more ways to beat a defender, why isn't he scoring as well as MJ? why is he 'fundamentally' better as you said? the way you describe kobe it is like you are describing him as a robot that can read moves and score any position with rarely any missed. If you say kobe has a lot of moves he can use, shouldn't he be shooting at 60-70% instead of 40-45%? If kobe is a shot creater for his team then why isn't he averaging more assists as well despite being a 2 guard?
