  • 58pts vs Charlotte in a 3OT thriller. (2007)
Kobe made the game winner two years ago but Charlotte won it last year despite Kobe's 35. It's always a big event when Kobe comes to town. And the largest crowd in Bobcats history won't be disappointed.
#24 was hot early hitting 6 of his first 7 shots, finishing the half with 27pts. Kobe came up big in the clutch, making three straight shots -- the last one giving 47pts (19/33 FGS at this time).
But Kobe seemed tired after that, missing 6 straight through the 1st two OT, with no one else on his team helping him. But Kobe is Kobe and he found a way to tie the game on a three pointer to force a 3rd OT. He fouled out in the final minute, finishing the nigh with a 58pt effort.
He was clearly tired in the 3OT and no other Lakers was capable of helping him -- story of the season. Even if he failed to give the Lakers the win, Kobe put on a show with his 3rd highest scoring total at that time.
Fadeway shots, dunks, driving lay-ups...Kobe at his best.

That's exactly why he didn't win it. He had no team. He had to carry that team into the playoffs. He put them on his back. He averaged a high 35ppg one year. The guy was a beast and couldn't be stopped. I guess I should have re worded it. If Kobe had the team, he would have won more MVP's. And yes, 03' was another year he should have got it.

46% is his career shooting percentage, which isn't all that horrible for a shooting guard. Sure, centers, Power forwards will shoot in the 50% range, but generally shooting guards do not. Considering the shots he takes, to shoot 46%, is actually incredible. What other players, besides Jordan, can you think of that take the shots he does and hits them at a 46% rate? Not many, if any, other than Jordan.

Young man JORDAN was a BALLHOG at the peak of his powers. Ask Grant Hill, Bill Cartwright, ORLANDO WOODRIDGE...he was a kid in a league unmatched in athleticism, hunger, and desire. He FEASTED on the league and his numbers are evidence(avg. 40 min. a game in the playoffs til the early 90s) of that. It was the PISTONS and the timely arrival of Phil's "equal opportunity offense", as he termed it, that brought about his elevation in leadership.

IMO Michael Jordan is the greatest because he gets himself easy shots (fadeaways, dunks. he can make tough shots, but he is a take the best available shot player). Kobe on the other hand just makes ridiculously tough shots. Anyone who looks at stats and tries to say that he sucks because he never shoots 50% on the season needs to actually watch him play. Some of the shots he takes are so difficult and he still makes them a lot of the time.

Yea Kobe had a unique run. Being the number 2 guy for the beginning, then going through the BS years in his prime and waiting for a team to be built around him. Most guys have that phase to start and get the championship team while entering their prime. If Kobe had it that way, yes, it would have been much better for him.

4 MVP's is a stretch. I say he should of had at least 2 though. He was never fortunate to be on top of the league on a great team during his prime, disallowing him to ever be the true king of the league, but he's been an elite player in such longevity never seen since Kareem.

If Kobe did not have Shaq. he would have averaged 30-37pts from 2001-2007.
Well it worked out for him because he won championships.
Bro.... every damn Lakers play started with passing to Shaq down low, and rightfully so. And Shaq with his huge body blocked the lane sometimes.
Kobe was still had monster numbers with Shaq.
When Kobe had good teammates, he always made the best out of it like he will do this season if the chemistry is good. They need to be healthy also.

One thing I noticed about the 06-07 season is that Kobe was pretty damn bulky/heavy, however you want to slice it (probably due to knee surgery he had that offseason). You look at him right now and compare him to that season and there's a noticable difference. Somehow he managed to still have (in my opinion) his best all-around offensive season, which I think is a testament to the greatness and versatility of Kobe's game.

@cespin3823 Kobe is 2nd in NBA's history in 30 point games in the playoffs with 77 I think it is MJ has like 106, he has multiple 40 point games, and over a handful of game winners in the playoffs. Kobe gets it done in the playoffs no questions asked, it takes haters to try and manipulate words/stats in order to make it seem like Kobe doesn't dominate in the playoffs.

  • @spokcam
    @spokcam 17 лет назад

The lakers shouldn't of loss this game. Kobe once again kobe jacked up 45 shots but made 22 of them(48%). Once again kobe starts off the game shooting really well but ran out of gas down the stretch. He makes the game harder than it really is. Kobe needs to pass the rock a little more. Like Shaq told kobe in 2001..."you make the game harder when you try to go 1 on 5. The game shouldn't have to be so hard."

Same thing happened to Kobe except on a far worse level. He was HUMILIATED in the NBA Finals(something Jordan never came close to experiencing) by the modern bad boys defense of the Detroit Pistons in '04. What did he do after that? He MATURED. He didn't just say this is my team, he took it upon himself to LEAD. If he truly had a ball hog trait, after literally being put in the driver's seat and given the green light by Jerry Buss, w/ NO superstars around him, he would've been HAPPY right where

Half of the things you wrote were wrong. Kobe Bryant's Lakers won 45 games in 06 and 41 games in 07. Bryant led the Lakers in scoring during their 01 run for the first 3 rounds of the playoffs. Don't pretend like the Lakers could've made it that far without his Hall of Fame/Jordanesque level of playing. Bryant's team won 45 games with Kwame, Odom, Walton and Smush.

he was scoring 35 pts a night for the rest of his career. But NO...something changed him just like JORDAN. When you're that unstoppable you are GOING to have an ego for a bit in your career...but it's the GREAT ones who wake up and say, "Hey, I need help." Fortunately Jordan's pieces/players/circumstances fell into place right along with his maturation resulting in championships. Kobe had a "gravy train" of Laker teams in his "young n dumb" stage and has had to fight harder and harder for luck
