  • (1999) "The Magic touch"
    The Lakers team from 1999 included Shaq, Kobe, Rice & Rodman. But in Shaq 1st game back at Orlando, L.A was unable to play well in the 1st half, trailing by 20pts. Then, here came Kobe! KB put on a show in the 2nd half, hitting his first seven shots. For the 1st time I guess, we watched how good Kobe really was. Carrying his team, he scored 33 of his 38pts in the 2nd half on 13/15 shooting! Back to these days, it was Kobe "1st career high". And of course, leading L.A to a great came back, Kobe definitely had the magic touch.

    haha 3rd year of his career at the age of 20 and he can score 33 points in 2 quarters against an elite team at the time, and makes it look easy. It just goes to show how great Kobe was going to be, a will and drive to keep winning where he could the impossible.

    tell that to the 2000s Spurs and Kings, i'm sure they'll see eye to eye with that. first of all, i dont recall any "Kobe fanatics" saying he won by himself. Secondly, if you ever actually watched the Lakers then, you'd know that while Shaq usually won the Finals MVP (against weaker frontlines) Kobe usually got them over the hump in the Western series when Shaq usually got in foul trouble or was clanking free throws down the stretch. Ultimately the TEAM wins, not Shaq or Kobe.

      OBSERVE FIRST BEFORE JUDGING yeah pretty much .. Jordan was slightly better overall .. Jordan had bigger hands and highlight reel ball fakes ... Jordan won defensive player of the year and mvp in the same season..... but i will say this much . Jordan never had to.guard anyone close to kobes level .... Jordan and kobe are easily the best 2 pure scorers I've ever seen ... Jordan's fadeaway is so beautiful.

    Jordan missed almost the whole 86 season. So he really started to chamberlained the league when he was 23. At that age, Kobe had already scored 56 in three quarters, drilled 12threes in a game, scored at least 45 in 2 straight playoffs games & being the hero vs Indiana in game 4 of the finals.
    So you put Kobe at age 22-23 in this mid-end 80's era, and he would have chamberlained it. Alrigh Punisher?

    Kobe's 05-06 PPG and total points is more than just about every Jordan average and total point stat excluding the infamous '86-87 season AND it's ranked #7 all-time. And many people will tell you that MJ is a smarter player while Kobe is better when it comes to pure skill, not necessarily athleticism, but PURE skill.

    Again, MJ did not just score. The Triangle offense was run THROUGH JORDAN. MJ would often get his teammates involved in the offense in the first half of games then go off and take over. As to the first question you asked, Shaq was the man in the LA. Kobe HAD TO BE THE FACILITATOR at times not because Kobe is so UNSELFISH but because he was the SECOND BEST player in his own team when Shaq was there in his prime. And Yes, Jordan never did lead the league in Assists, I misspoke.

    no i am not disputing that Shaq was the most dominant player during that phase. maybe i didn't make that clear enough, but i meant to say that in those difficult series, Kobe usually came through as much as Shaq did. what i object to is the implication that Shaq got Kobe those rings, as though he were just a benchwarmer or something. oh, and saying "which big man doesn't" as a rebuttal to free throw problems is a cop out. that's the classic "he does it too" fallacy. again, the TEAM won it all.

  • @kanguesso
    @kanguesso 11 лет назад

    Do you also get pissed when Kobe fanatics say Kobe won by himself? Take a look at Shaq's playoff numbers, not to mention the 3 straight finals he was in with Kobe & you'll see why People credit Shaq more. Phil Jackson himself said he'd have the team rely more on Kobe throughout the better part of the regular season to have a fresh and dominant Shaq in the playoffs. And if you look at kobe's career minutes played, you'd agree. Most teams would rather lock down on Sha & let kobe go nuts.

  • @addbball
    @addbball 16 лет назад

    Do you have the end of regulation for the game in Orlando the next season? The one where Shaq intercepted a pass at half court on an inbounds pass and threw down a dunk to tie it with last than 20 seconds left. That was amazing.

  • @kanguesso
    @kanguesso 15 лет назад

    i completely agree with you. now you try telling that to the lakers and kobe fanatics and see how far you'd get. Especially the part when you said he wouldn't have his first 3 championships rings had he been the man all along in LA. it's funny how phil jackson gets to LA and feeds the media a bunch of bullshit about how kobe reminds him so much of MJ and how Kobe was a better shooter and had more skills but when it was time to win chmpionships, he wanted Shaq to lead the team.

  • @kanguesso
    @kanguesso 11 лет назад

    Of course Kobe was not and is not just a benchwarmer. What amazes me though is many kobe fans or fanatics as i call them, act as if Kobe was the sole reason why he has 5 rings when for the better part of his career, he wasn't even the best player on his own team. Secondly, what i said about big men is not a cop out, big men have historically and notoriously struggled at the line.

    Are you really disputing the fact that Shaq was simply the most dominant player in those 3 championship runs the Lakers had from 2000-2003? Yes, Shaq has his problems at the free throw line, what big man doesn't, right? But it should go unquestioned that Shaq was so dominant that he simply overcame his weakness at the free throw line with sheer offensive and defensive low post dominance.

  • @BettaWithToast

  • @kanguesso
    @kanguesso 11 лет назад

    I think you're confusing Kobe's impact on his teammates with Shaq's impact. When the Diesel was on the floor back in 2001 Shaq was the absolute BEAST IN THE ENTIRE LEAGUE. He was fresh off an MVP season and when he was on the floor the lanes to the basket for Kobe and the rest of his teammates opened up like a fucking high way. The reason Fisher, Horry, and Fox knocked down all those shots in the playoffs wasn't because of Kobe, are you smoking? It was the big DIESEL down in the low post.

    why are you comparing the stats of a perimeter player to a low post player?...jordan got more stls, & assist than kareem, wilt & russell...his 3pt & free throw shooting was better than theirs & it should be. just like they should get more rebs, blks & field goal % although MJ's field goal % is better than russell's...you can compare robertson with jordan but in roberston's time the game was faster so players got more opportunities to rebound.

    My first sentence makes plenty of sense. It goes straight to the heart of your entire argument. You said MJ never had to be a "Facilitator as well as a scorer" as Kobe had. And I told you that MJ never wasn't a facilitator for the most part because he never had the most physically dominant center in the history of basketball on his team like Kobe had. And that is a false statement anyway to say that "MJ NEVER HAD TO BE A FACILITATOR". MJ once led the entire league is Assists per game.

    @utfanatic2000 Kobe has been to the finals 7 times in his career and won 5 of them, that's average? Then Dirk is got to be mediocre compared to Kobe.
