Actually a true to life video not some editing crap where they removed it before filming and then show it practically falling out after the nuts are removed. Thank you!
I tried everything to remove the light, it won't budge. They should install a 3rd bolt instead of that notch. Due to heat cold cycles the plastic becomes fused brittle and breaks. Unnecessary nuisance.⁷
thanx for the vid! 2016 gt was a little different no bolts just 2 screws wasnt too bad luckily. It was a little tricky pulling the big part out but everything else from there was fairly simple. did both tail and blinkers same time just in case, cuz didnt want to turn around and have to do it again in a few months or so.
Can you demonstrate please? Or even draw a picture and link it? I have tried putting a screw driver inside but it's hitting the frame and not the actual tail light assembly. I just spent an hour trying everything. Outside of removing the bumper. I am in complete anger because of this shit. 13 beers, neighbors got chuckles, I got nothing but sore fingers, chipped paint and utter defeat.
@@chrisrasmussen2938 Yeah I was working on getting it removed for almost 3h with my buddy we looked at all the videos out there. I am really not down going through any of that again, but essentially I tried EVERYTHING, what worked for me was to push the black circle thing inside the hole, and used my wrench but i pushed it forward (facing the back of the car). Just think about it as a sliding maneuver. At the very end of the piece where its skinny, there's an attachment that is a slider. I mean there`s not much more I can say I just got lucky I guess. Use something with a firm grip and hit it basically like a hammer (hitting the piece in a backward motion facing the rear of the car), I cant confirm it will damage the piece or not, but mine was fine.
@@UnderRatedRock thanks for the reply but I found a way that took less than 2 mins. Use a duffle bag belt and slide it between the end of the tail light and body. Then just tug and with your hand pushing in the same spot as the belt so you don't snap the plastic prong/fork thing. 2 mins and it's done.
My friend you're on to something here! We all know in 2022, how fancy editing can be. It can cause major damage because of all of the pre-work some of these videos do. As someone mentioned, they will pre-release everything and not tell you how actually difficult it was. If you continue with these same videos I can only imagine how your channel will grow. Everyone needs a no- nonsence ,go-to channel for things like this and I'm locking yours in as my favorite. Not even looking at any more because, as we all know ,good information on the internet is AS hard to find as an honest mechanic. When you find them you tend to hold on to them. Thank you again ,keep up the good work!.
This seems aggressive and abrasive. I watched ten videos, checked Reddit threads, they said to wriggle it, being the nuts out to the end of the screws and tap, push, pull, repeat, I was convinced it was those little white nubs holding it on which it prolly is but I couldn’t find anything about removing those anywhere. I even called the dealership, they wanted $35 with my own bulb! I tried this seemingly excessive method with a racket and hammer, after 5 hits it came right off, that clip was intacted.
Holy SH1T that was unnecessarily HARD! had to cuss it out for 20mins, and slide the end of the ratchet in there to hit it out and catch it before hitting the garage floor
Best way to get this light assembly off without damaging anything is to remove the bolts and the rubber plug then take a long socket extension and place it in the hole against a flat spot make sure it's not against the light caps or anything you will damage. The hard clip holding it is under the narrow piece of the light if you wiggle the light lose and squirt a bunch of lubricant behind where the clip is it should release easier from the clip. Then cover the light in duct tape leaving some hanging at the back to grab and pull it backwards. When all this is done get 2 people one to hammer the extension from behind and the other to tug on the duct tape. It will take some force but it will pop out. I struggled with this thing for months until this worked for me. Good luck it's a huge pain really poor design.
I couldn't get mine off at all. I ended up using a small pry bar like the video, and then put several strips of duct tape on the outside of the tail light. I put a little pressure on the pry bar, pulled on the duct tape and that broke it loose. Hope this helps someone.
@@STEVEHEROLD i had to put a strap around the light and pull on it as hard as I could. Just remember to leave the bolts on just a bit so it doesn't fly off when it comes off.
@@yatablah393 thanks Yata, appreciate the advice. I tried this method and still no luck. Gonna give it another try in AM. Can't believe they designed this like this. Such a goof.
You take the 2 nuts and put them back on, twist them clockwise a couple of turns, take small plastic hammer and tap on the two nuts and it will come out.

Why is the front an easier Job than the back is my question. But in the front, driver side is way harder than the passenger

Thank you for creating the real deal. Good to know the problems that one might encounter in trying to remove the light assembly.
I cannot thank you enough I tried everything! What worked for me was to move the black circle cover thing and to press with my wrench from the inside

To get the taillight out I used duct tape along the length of the taillight and yanked on the roll. Seemed to do the trick. Hope this helps
I just tried it and hitting it was the only way for mines to come apart so thank you for this video 😮💨

Thanks for showing us how to be careful where and who to trust when you take your car to a body shop/mechanic.
Pure legend! Only method that worked

so to replace the actual tail light (mine is cracked due to an accident), would it be the same exact way?
Obrigado pela dica
Fica na paz.
I just gave up after an hour trying to take that thing off, dont wanna break the thing
Found this too late. Tried to jack it with a screwdriver and broke a piece of plastic. Trying to save 20 dollars ended with 200 dollar problem. Sad.

Smash up a car just to change a bulb! Why on earth do they make it this difficult!? It's just a bulb.
I agree, the dumbest design ever for changing a bulb.
Going through it now! So angry!

Still struggling, scared I will damage something
Same. What did you wind up doing??

Very bad design by Hyundai. This should be easy to do
I have NEVER had that much trouble getting the assembly off .. I ALSO don't have to use tools to get it off
Glad your not my mechanic. Pretty rough there bud!!
