Nice, fairly accurate summary for the average nz primary school! I think you missed out school camps, something that generally happens in term 4 (although ours does it in term 1 as a whole school). And field trips in general (we usually go on a field trip at least once a term, although some things such as visiting the local marae, happen much more frequently. Lots of organisation of materials, planning what will be done on the trip, filling out health and safety forms, organising parent helpers, transport, etc involved there.
Thanks. That's true. Although, last year my kids didn't go to school camp but they went kayaking in the nearby estuary which required parent helpers. We also went to the Auckland Zoo for our Inquiry. We didn't go to a marae but yes that could happen. When I had intermediate students, we took them on a marae trip. It was awesome. Teaching in general is really busy, though enjoyable and rewarding. 🙂

Is it possible for me to teach in primary education as a graduate of secondary education major in English? I'm licensed but don't have a classroom experience, but have ESL experience po and TESOL certificate. I'm preparing for NZQA and for PTE as first step. What pathway do you think I can take? Salamat!
I replied to your other comment. I'm a licensed teacher in the Philippines, too but my story is a bit complicated. I missed my practicum so I had to do a 1-year study here to register as a teacher. Once you have registered as a teacher in NZ, you can go from high school to primary or vice versa but this is according to the principal's discretion. If you can demonstrate that you can execute the job, you should be sweet. I know a few people who have done this. But going to ECE, I don't know about that. They seem to have strict regulations over this. But, you can always try.
