Thanks for watching!
I mean this with ALL the respect: I looked over at your sub count and I was thinking, WHAT? You *feel* like a big channel doing big things. So, I guess you just got a head start. :)
Love this post and really love the work you've put together.
Wow thanks! I appreciate that. Just having fun out here!
Thanks, Will, for your non-gear head, non-techy, very useable look at this new film.
I have mixed feelings on it, as I’m a huge fan of the I Type B&W film. I just love the abstractions and quirkiness of it. I’m so glad Polaroid is keeping that as an option.
But I can see and understand the attraction of the new 600 formulation. I can even see me using it now and then.
And yeah that shift over time is problematic. But it also builds into the ephemeral quality of Polaroids. Thank the photo gods for scanning!
Happy shooting!
For sure I still like the old film, and I don’t think the new stuff is that big of a change overall, it’s just seems to behave a little better than before. Might not always be a good thing for everyone, but I’m glad it exists. Hopefully it’ll keep its color better than the old one though
All Polaroid B&W films are moving to this new formulation. iType isn't staying the same.
I hope to try this once it comes to Australia, it’s taking a really long time.
i will miss the high contrast of the old bw film, even if it was a bit unreliable. nice video!
Fortunately, I-type BW film is still the old stuff for now. Not sure if they are planning to fully replace it or not. Thanks for watching!

Apparently they plan on doing the rest of the B&W films.
Still looks like it has high contrast from photos I’ve seen, it’s just more stable and allows for more detail.
It’s funny how they actually managed to improve on something that the original company didn’t do so well, and that’s integral B&W film. The original stuff was horrible, and it wasn’t even an actual B&W film but rather a single layer colour system with a black dye which is why it was so unstable.
Cool vid. Just wondering if you've ever tried Fuji Instax? and if so what are your thoughts?
Thanks! Yeah I’ve shot a lot of instax. It’s not my favorite simply because I like the personality of Polaroids more. I’ll still shoot instax from time to time though.
As a general rule, do you find the new B&W requires under exposure? I generally under expose on the i2 by 2/3 to keep the highlights from blowing out. Is that required on the new film?
I usually underexpose by 2/3 as well, however I feel like I could have backed off by 1/3 for these. They ended up a little on the darker side, so maybe it can handle light better
@@doublenegative4real thank you for the post and response. Love your images. I am curious, do you ever use filters with the B&W film?
@@Analog_Photographer thanks for the kind words! And no not black and white specific filters, however I have a 1/4 pro mist on my I-2 for these photos
Why didnt the i-2 get new film?!
You can use Polaroid 600 film in the Polaroid I-2, which is how I shot these. I imagine they are just slowly changing all their film to this eventually
So, contrasty or muddy. Take your pick. Hmmmmmmmm.
