I set up an Amazon Associates account which earns the channel something on purchases that qualify :) I'd only link something that I 100% recomend and use myself.

I love Polaroids and I have an old SX70 which does not work anymore. Instead buying an old stock SX70 and do modifications the most smart thing is to buy the new I2 which includes everything and more
very good setup
chromatic part is a gift from the sky
also, I will share something from my personnal experience if you're ok with that, i've learn that using a frog tong, especially in color, increase the contrast +++ and vibrant color ++
it is very easy to instal, polaroid sell some of them for a very fair price :) it would be the icing on the cake ;)
Why was it so important to take the Power Bar off the camera Molly ?
Even if you switch it off …. does it still drain the film camera battery if using 600 films and the film pack still has pictures to take - rather than using a non battery film ?
Why is it so important to take it off if just using I-Type film ?
Polacon looks a fun happening. Some good pictures by you.
I saw Christopher Bonanos was doing a talk with two close to Dr Land senior employees.
If you don't something locks up and blocks the viewfinder for the next shot so it doesn't come out :) secondly to save the battery too :) thanks!
@@Eclectachrome Aha Thanks.
I thought there must be a good reason from your comments.
I was just waiting for the punch line !
The Powerbar powers the camera directly through the shutter PCB itself, by-passing all of the cameras built in ribbon cables and switches that would normally cut power to the camera when its collapsed.
Basically this means that with the Powerbar in place, you can fire the shutter with the door open, and even fire the shutter in the collapsed position. This is not good for the camera.
The other risk, is if you leave it switched on by accident, it will continuously send a 6V power to the PCB, putting it under a constant low level load, putting a constant strain on the chips and slowly draining the batteries. You really need to turn the bar off and remove it from the camera when not in use.
Hey Molly, great video! I gotta admit, PolaCon looks like a great time. I'm not a big fan of SF, but I would consider going back for this next year. How many Instant photo events are there? I'm pretty sure there's another one in the bay area too. The mods are very cool indeed, I wonder if they will expand into other Polaroid models at some point. I have a cool captiva SLR from the 90's that I'd love to shoot, but it uses the old 500 film that Polaroid hasn't made since the early 2000's, so I always wonder if it could be modded to shoot instax since that's probably the closest thing. Who knows, maybe some day, lol. BTW, I laughed when I saw that Paul Bunyan statue in Klamath. I haven't seen that since I was a kid. We used to see it on camping trips all the time. Cheers!
I think they have more events in Texas and NYC now too! Might be worth asking if they would be interested in that model to work on :) haha yeah I didn't realise that was a thing but it was cool to see!
PolaCon Bay Area was such a great time, met so many cool people and saw so many cool cameras! ❤️
I got the same mods on mine, the Powerbar + SX70r makes it such a versatile camera to shoot. If you get the dongle, dont need to bother with the app! (Fair warning for Android users, its a bit glitchy).
thanks!!
The SX-70 camera represents incredible engineering! Foldable, compact, an SLR--and with the SX70R mod, manual exposure. But the shutter design means you have little control over the aperture. Some thinking has gone into modifying the focus knob to decouple it from the aperture in flash mode, which would make that camera totally amazing! Though I think the max shutter asked is 1/180...
Thanks for sharing your experience with us. Hope to see you in Denton the last weekend of September...
I'm not planning on Denton this year but would love to make it though, perhaps next year?!
@@Eclectachrome always the last weekend of September. Thanks for supporting instant film.
Looks like a really fun time mixing with fellow polaroiders in SF. I hear a lot of good things about chromatic parts back here in the UK where I live and am considering getting my SX70 sonar upgraded to do 600 film at some point but having just started using it after a 20+ years gap I’m having too much fun shooting with the current colour and BW film which I find rather good considering all that happened after Polaroids bankruptcy and resurrection. Applause for a well-made video.👏🏻
Thanks so much! Yeah, something to consider, did you mean current Polaroid film or 35mm film? They have come a long way and from what I hear still some issues but actually I haven’t had a bad pack yet lol
@@Eclectachrome sx70 dated 02/24 and bw dated 08/23. Never used Polaroid 35mm. Just bought more film from Polaroid and stored in my fridge. Going to enjoy this summer (UK so never guaranteed) shooting more Polaroids especially bw.
@@gabvideo ok cool, yeah the new bw emulsion looks interesting!
fun video, enjoyed seeing the recap and thanks for sharing the mods done onto your sx70, exciting to see all the customizations done :)
thanks so much!! It's pretty awesome everything that can be done to those cameras and the fun to be had with instant film :)
I really need to get my hands on a SX-70
One of the more informative videos on RUclips, thank you.
Glad it was helpful :)
Wow, great photos!
Many thanks!
If you showed up at PolaCon with an Instax camera and film, would you be publicly shamed???? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣
hahah not at all because I also brought my SQ6!
