    The white streak in the middle of the print is down to the developer being too warm/cold/annoying or just generally off. If you look at the back of the film you will see there are three little pouches that get rolled out by the roller when the film is elected. If one of the pouches is a bit off for whatever reason, you get this brighter line. It happened to me on a whole pack of b&w film (a whole pack, it's only 8 shots) it is the joy/pain of shooting with Polaroid, to paraphrase Forrest Gump "life is like a pack of Polaroid, you never know if the photo will turn out exactly as you had imagined it would when you composed the shot." But it is fun. Black and White is far more stable as color film friends a lot on temperature (here in Ireland that is a big thing as we get about 17 seasons every day!)
    But it is a fun camera to shoot. Check out "The Polaroid Book" for some sweet shots.
    Love the videos man, thanks for sharing.

    • @GregoryVeizades
      @GregoryVeizades 4 года назад +1

      @@wasabibinladeen62 I just had this done to two Sx-70s I picked up.
      It is a great thing to do, but it is not without its downsides.
      Pros: you can use your SX-70 in lighting that isn't full 100% daylight without a flash. So you'll be able to use it in more situations.
      Cons: 600iso in this camera is to sensitive for many full sun situations. I just found this out the hard way on a walk on the beach. I had to wait for the sun to be behind a cloud for the exposure to actually come out properly.
      So it really depends on where you intend to use your SX-70. For me, honestly I wish I had kept one stock, and it means I'll likely get another one just to keep for SX-70 film.
      Last note, the cons above to not count if you have an Slr680 or similar. They are capable of faster shutter speeds.

    • @vimerveilles

      @bananamustard1151 4 года назад

      @@GregoryVeizades SX70 film is rated at 160 ISO instead of 600's 640 ISO. So no it's not better for low light. Also 640 ISO is not too sensitive for full sunlight, as the aperture can stop down as low as f45, when f16 at 500 (which 600 cameras manage fine) would do direct sunlight fine. If you're in sunlight, Polaroid themselves recommend using switching the exposure comp to one quarter dark.

    The pinkboy has some appeal but is definitely closer to the "toy" side of the Polaroid spectrum. Still can produce awesome results, but the real heavy lifters are the Polaroid SX-70 and SLR680. Incredible glass and build, but with a thicc thicc price tag if you're just trying to heck around with this stuff. Still, for the price of the film, it kinda makes you want to get the best hardware possible. This is our curse.

    It's always a hit or miss with polaroid. Maybe you need to change the exposure compensation a bit. Our Savior Matt Day once said, that he turns the dial a bit towards the darker side, which should reduce the shutter speed. But on the other hand I had great exposures with the dial a bit to the brighter side. Maybe you should have gone with the newer Cameras with a better lens and the fact that you could use the cartridges without the battery. Nevertheless I liked the video. Cheers from Germany

If it fires with the lid closed, there's probably something wrong with that, or the camera opened slightly enough to release the protective mechanism.

    The cost of the film is inane and ridiculous. But I guess it's not really made for professional photography in general but more of a way to adapting the occasional nostalgic print from a day or night out into the modern day without the use of a smartphone. Many years ago we had to always be careful not to waste our shots and had to really think before clicking the shutter to make sure it had the appropriate conditions for the camera in fear of getting a bad or blank shot. When digital cameras became more affordable and widespread we were shocked by how inconsequential every shot was, you had unlimited shots and it was unheard of. So going back to a format that is less reliable and gives you limit on every £2 per film shot. it can take some getting used to. But remember if you really value the very moment you take that photo, it will mean something, even if it's slightly blurry or a tad dark. just keep still and overexpose your camera if you're outside in the late evening to get a bright enough shot. Just buy a pack of film whenever you're going out somewhere you think you'll take photos such as an outing. If you want to do professional photography it may be cheaper in in the longrun to get a decent120mm camera and film as Polaroid's are more for casual use :)

    Don't know about 'modern' instant cameras, but I do remember back in the 70s - 80s word-one warning was never shoot in low-light, such as at night - ever...

    i-type film is just 600 film in a pack without a battery and so its cheaper. I save my 600 battery packs and reload them with i-type film, im literally +100 frames in on one battery

    In Australia we pay $40 per pack, so $5 per shot. I have a brand new Polaroid and it takes terrible pics, I use an old 600, the pics come out perfect everytime

    One thing I want to do with my Polaroid 600 is take pictures of the neon signs in Pike Place as I love the area as well as the variety of neon signs there and the atmosphere is busy but usually friendly.

    Film is just too expensive. Expired ones doesnt work because of the dead batteries. Who thought putting the darn battery on the film itself is a good idea.

    I mean shit, if Hasselblad 500 series and Bronica SQ-A were not such a great cameras, I may hate on 6x6 too. But I can't.

    the vertical stripes shows bcoz there are 3 pods of chemical in the bottom and probably one of them has gone bad somehow. or they just felt your depression and decided to play along.

    Still don't know how I feel about Polaroid. I like the idea and the aesthetic but the cost of the film and the fact that most shots turn out bad puts me off getting one

    I think that one may be broken, because a 600 camera almost always flashes. I didn't see that one flash once.
