Just wanted to post a quick update, almost 2 years later, to say that the repair has held up perfectly - no weird noises, no leaks. The washer is now 10 years old and is showing signs of age in other areas. I had an issue with the "Start" button on the control panel, for example. I am expecting to have issues with the "Power" button as well since they are the most heavily used buttons. Unfortunately, those buttons seem to be replaced as an assembly - a very expensive assembly!
At 8 years, your machine was at the life expectancy of ANY Washer except SPEED QUEEN. Cabrio is particularly troublesome. I'd recommend Whirlpool's World Washer made under all the WP family of brands including MAYTAG, Amana, Admiral and others. It has a more traditional looking DC motor and a "Splutch" (about $18) in place of a transmission and clutch. Bearing replacement is a bit easier too. The main thing is the mostly nylon and plastic parts are much cheaper to buy. It is still electronically complicated with the pump, and agitation and spin speeds controlled by the Electronic Control board. The 24 page tech manual is hidden behind front cabinet panel. Probably was in your Cabrio as well. Seals and belts are made of neoprene now instead of natural rubber. Neoprene is more durable, heat, grease and water resistant and will not dry out and disintegrate from age.
Keep your eyes peeled on the Facebook Market place. You may find a compatable replacement part, or parts if you know how to sauder for free. Broken washing machines are given away free by people who just want to get rid of them frequently.
I keep getting told that the kit wont work for my machine even though the model number matches unless my tub has been replaced. Could that have been the issue with the shaft in your case?
This is the worst designed washer, same with the Bravos and Oasis. That shaft has been known to never get unstuck and thus damages the tub, plus the units are known to leak even after putting in new parts correctly. Thow that turd away.
Thanks for making the video. I did my Cabrio Platinum today -- guess it took about 3 or 4 hrs (total with a few beer/snack breaks). I watched a couple other videos (from appliance part/repair companies/etc), but yours was the most helpful (except I was ready with a 2x4 and floor jack for the tub like I saw in one of the other videos, but like yours, my tub would move up/down about 3/4 of an inch, but not come off... looking closely at the shaft, there was a lip/build up on edge that was catching -- I sanded it smooth and the tub slipped right out). I'm very glad you didn't edit out the issues/problems/mistakes -- that's what made the video so helpful. This will be our last Whirlpool set - the quality is very low. The top has lots of rust (have to keep sanding/appliance painting the areas you can see), the bearings have been bad for over a year, and there's a small leak when it fills (I was hoping it was seal related, but it seems exactly the same after the bearing/seal replacement). But now that it doesn't sound like a jet taking off, maybe we can get another year out of it -- $55 well spent!
I successfully followed the same procedure two years ago and it resolved the issue. However, my Cabrio Washer recently started experiencing unleveling problems again. So, I decided to refer to the same video and repeated the process of changing the shaft. Once again, it successfully fixed the problem. I wanted to express my gratitude for creating this video, as your humor was still enjoyable even the second time around. Thank you!
You are a "for real" kind of guy, I love that you left your inglorious moments in the video, because that is ALL OF US, at least the real ones. You showed us where we all will encounter difficulty, and that is important! This is a GOOD video.
I have the "Cabrio Platinum" ...also about 7 yrs old almost identical model#. I'm getting a high pitch squeel which sound like the spindle bearing? It also is leaking a bit...where from exactly, I don't know. At this point I'm considering throwing it away and buying an older Whirlpool/Kenmore in good shape? What would you do? I'm still working at 65 and work 12 hour shifts, so my time is limited..though I Do like to make my own repairs. Your opinion matters! Thanks! Great well done video!
I just want to say thank you for this video. My grandpa and I changed the bearings in my washer and this helped tremendously. We watched over and over as we went through each step. I even had a drink with you along the way.
Each one teach one. I think the critics that think they know more are just miserable people. Rather than suggest they criticize. They would make poor teachers. Youre doing fine. THANKS!
Thank you for this excellent "real life" repair video. I have one comment: I had the same problem when trying to put the shaft in after replacing everything. But upon feeling around the inside at the top of the sleeve between the bearings, I noticed that the sleeve was shifted slightly off from being concentric with the bearings. I used the rod that came with tool (for knocking out the bearings) and gently tapped around inside the top of the sleeve to align it with the top bearing, and then the shaft slid in nicely.
Thank you for demonstrating how to do this, I was excited that it could be a home repair, but my husband has “0” patience, we may be blowing the big bucks on a new washer after all…. lol I enjoyed the video.
Thanks Joe great video and loved your commentary. My son, wife and I did this repair over the weekend. We had trouble with the shaft extending enough through the bottom of the tub to catch the 1.25" nut but remembering that you lightly sanded the shaft made it work perfectly.
Can’t thank you enough, best video out there for my needs. I’m hitting the subscribe button for sure. Fixed my cambrio and have done eight washes in 24 hrs to catch up. Zero problems. Thanks again.
Amazing video, did it today. To remove the tub I put a 2x4 across the top resting it on the washer housing, and ratchet strapped the inside of the tub top with hooks to the 2x4. Pulled it tight then used a 3lb sledge on the old shaft. Worked like a dream. Also putting the new shaft in I greased it, put a wood block on the top and hammered it in. Worked perfect. Couldn't have done it without you! Cheers.
That is the Fisher Paykel New Zealand design. The company was taken over by Haier China. Most early machines computers blew up before the shaft wore out. To get the inner tub out stick a 1/2 inch thin long socket on the shaft swing your leg over press down on the socket and give the tub a good pull. Pull out the outer tub with pipe wires pump and motor and get easy access to everything. It is a much better tool now to insert the bearings. I used to give the old motors from scrap machines to university solar car projects to drive across Australia.
Thanks for the great instructions. Prior to replacement sound level was 85db 3 feet from my washer, about like a loud gas mower. After shaft and bearing replacement average through cycle was 55db, about like a conversation. Put new shaft in deep freeze night before, made sure new bearings and spacers were seated and aligned and new shaft went in easily with a few taps. I wrote out the narrative and it totalled 45 steps, it was very accurate, a very good job. Great video!
Thanks for the video. I completed this repair today, and I did run into one issue which I will share here, with the hope of benefiting others. For some reason, as I was pressing the bearings, the spacer became damaged somehow and did not allow the upper bearing to seat all the way. I hammered the upper bearing out and tried again 5 times, and still could not get it to seat fully. When I tried to put the shaft in, it would not turn. I removed the upper bearing again, removed the spacer, noticed the damage, and decided to try assembling it without the spacer. It seemed to work perfectly, the bearing finally seated, and the shaft turned smoothly, but I'm not sure the potential consequences. When I subsequently installed the seal, it was perfectly level with the tub. I'm testing it now on the "clean washer" cycle which fills the tub all the way, and it's not leaking so far.
Has it given you any problems yet from not having the spacer? I did the same thing about a year and a half ago after I couldn't see any reason for the spacer. Made it much easier to reassemble. However, the past couple of weeks my washer has developed a loud squeak when the tub is spinning. I think it's coming from the seal and that maybe I didn't apply enough lube. So I'm going to replace the seal but I still wonder about that spacer tube and wondered if you'd had any issues.
Joe you're video very helpful. I just did my 7-year old Cabrio yesterday, took 3 hours, thanks. Washer works very well now, much quieter. Used Octopus kit, $60 on Amazon including installation tool. Fingers crossed since its a (cheap) knock-off. Learnings: My basket came out amazingly easy (luck). A short-handled hammer would be useful inside tub, Upper bearing really stuck. Finally soaked with wd-40, taped a socket to the old metal bearing spacer and used 3-pound hammer. Inclusion and use of thrust bearing for installation confusing to me since its a throw-away. Apparently the upper/lower bearings have thrust capabilities. I had trouble getting the seal to seat all the way and concerned how hard I had to "tap" it. Whirlpool should be ashamed of themselves for this bearing failure in such a (relatively) new, low-hours machine.
Thank you I'm glad you found the video helpful! My 8-year-old Cabrio has quite a few hours on it so I'm not complaining. I would have preferred that that the OEM Whirlpool bearing kit included higher-quality bearings.
Thanks for the video! This helped a lot. My shaft went right in but getting the tub our was the hardest part. I used a 20in 2x4 and a car jack to hoist it off the old shaft.
**SOLVED!** Like I said earlier. After pressing in the new bearings, I hammered on the shaft trying to get it to drop down all the way. Beat on it forever. No luck. Thought it was a faulty shaft or faulty bearings.. turns out I was missing a huge key component. The top bearing, spacer, washer, and bottom bearing, have to sandwiched TIGHT together. Had to remove the shaft, hook up the bearing press tool again and turn that thing just about as hard as I possibly could. It finally dropped the top bearing down and squeezed everything together tight in between the two bearings. Then inserted the new (cheap/aftermarket) shaft, a few TAPS with the hammer and it popped all the way down nice, plenty of threads sticking out the bottom and spins nice and straight. So the key was so sandwich the heck out of those bearing pieces. Good luck. I'll be starting it up tomorrow once the seal adhesive cures.
I'm having trouble with my sister's. The top bearing won't sit flush. What size wrench or ratchet did you use? All I had was a 8 inch Cresent. I tightened it as much as I could but no luck. I'm hoping you had more leverage than I do and a bigger tool will get the job done.
I just used this video to fix my Whirlpool Cabrio. I'm on my fifth or 6th load post fix and everything's going well. Thanks so much for making this video. the only thing that bothers me is that when I put the tub back in and attemped to screw back in that plastic plate with the 6 screws, it was about 2mm proud of where it should be. It didn't sit directly on the inner tub. Anyway I screwed the thing in with the six screws, screwed in the agitator and attached the cap. Thanks again.
@@lindseyandsons4059 Well, for what it's worth my washer's been running for more than a month at about 6 or so washes a week. It's not leaking and runs a lot quieter than it did, but still a bit louder than when it was new. I'm hoping I get another year or two out of it. Hard to say, I think the big mistake I made was to take too long to fix it.
I’m a tech I do love browsing. A few things. That shaft is tight on design. You have to tap in in. It is tight so both bearings are tandem together. No need for grinding it down. Love the air chisel. You didn’t clean the weep hole. Also the adhesive should be dried before use.I think you did pretty good
Thanks for the video! Did the 1st replacement for our Maytag washer 3 years ago. The OEM lasted 10 years then made that roaring noise but no leaks. Bought the Whirlpool bearing kit and tool and installed it 3 years ago but it's making that noise again.
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC AT least I don't have to buy the bearing press and that pvc pipe. The new bearing comes with the silicone sealer and grease.
So glad I came across your video. I’ve been having the exact same issue you had getting the tub out. I came back to make sure I wasn’t missing something, and came across this… Thank you!
The only negative I had to say about the video is not giving us a call listing ahead of time I spent probably 20 to 30 minutes running up and down stairs out to the garage to grab tools. 1-1/4” deep well if you have an impact, pipe wrench and adjustable works too 1/4” socket 7/16” socket 3/8” socket #2 Phillips 1/4” Allen Dead blow Hammer
Oh boy got my parts and tool in this week. Just watched the video and planning on trying it today or next weekend. Wife says just go buy a new one which means I gotta fix it now....... Wish me luck
Thanks for sharing the problems getting the tub out I would have to do that as well and if you didn't put that part in I would be very disappointed with you.
Wow! just replaced a stripped out hub gear and found that that plastic gear had also darn near fully wiped out the metal shaft splines (go figure right). put it back together for now after having to file new grooves in the splines. working for the moment. will likely have to replace the shaft very soon (and the hub gear) unless I take your advice and just buy new. my unit is from 2006. Thanks for the video, it is going to make it easier to buy new. Another RUclips University great!
Though I wonder if mine needed replacing at all. They seemed to be in good shape. That top seal was definitely damaged so just a matter of time though. I had two issues. 1 was the sud error over and over again. When I removed the drum somehow a tshirt or part of a tshirt had made its way in between the drum & basen. Got clogged and shredded into the drain filter area. Then the loud motorcycle noise occasionally. Which when changing looks like it is caused the that small plastic piece under it. It has most teeth rubbed down. It fit tightly on the new one. But if it happens again I know that’s the part to replace and it will be easy. Just take the agitator off.
I just did this job. Wish I had seen the air chisel trick. I tried putting a 22.5” 2x4 crossways under the lip at the top of the tub with a screw jack between the shaft tip and the 2x4. The tub was seized so bad I broke the first 2x4, but the second 2x4 separated the tub from the shaft. I’m betting the chisel would have worked better.
Yeah air chisels are amazingly useful for a lot of things. Unfortunately if you're on a job site compressed air is not always available. They might make electric versions not sure
Thanks, dude!!! Just ordered the kit and will get it done asap. I have a way to make my own tool ( more money towards the Coronas!!) Again thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! Next time you pass by your fridge get one more Corona, you earned it!!!
I just did mine and when I was all done everything worked except the water pump. I pulled the hose off the water pump and there was parts from where the bearings went out inside the water pump. Don't forget to check that while you have your washer on its side.
Man that was a task lol thanks for the video! You definitely showed the real way that things come apart. If only I had a air hammer I would’ve been in good shape but I got it and it’s working good! Thanks again!
This video helped me so much… you’re the man Joe!! I had the same problem getting the tub out…. Didn’t have an air chisel but I did use a hammer drill on hammer only!!
Awesome I'm glad to hear that the video helped you! I'm happy to say that the washer is still running fine to this day. Certainly gave it a few more years of life.
Joe, this was the best video I have seen in a while. Exactly what I had to do. I have a cowling noise issue, but I am sure it will wear down. Thank you.
I just did mine thanks for the video it helped a ton without it it would have taken forever trying to figure it out. I said a lot of swear words and it took several hours the shaft was a pain in the ass and I had a lot of rust because of it leaking. Next time i'm just gonna buy a new one lol that was a huge pain in the you know what.
I am contemplating a bearing replacement, but my washing machine is like 20 years old. After reading some of the comments on here I have decided to purchase a second hand one, for a reasonable price. Save me the headache. ;)
I use a small scissor jack and 2"x4". The 2"x4" goes under the basket lip inside . The bottom of the jack on the shaft. It will make a pop sound when off.
Awesome and thank you for the video. No matter how you see or do this project its gonna be a PIA. I need to do this to my Cabrio washer and not looking forward to it. Might take your advice and buy a new W&D set LOL. BTW nice lawn.
About to start this repair next week (waiting on parts in mail). Mine started leaking out the bottom of the washer, through the holes in the rotor.. it definitely does not look like a fun job but I'm just trying to get a few more years out of it before buying a new one. Thanks again for the video, wish me luck and I'll post again next week how it went.
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC hey I just disassembled my machine and changes out the bearings. Now it throws water in the bucket but doesn't spin. It just makes a humming noise coming from the motor on the bottom(my machine doesn't have a belt I guess it is a bit new). Wel what should I do because before it didn't do that
I did this and I thought everything was going well, but when I got near the end of reassembly, the basket hub did not sit flush on the base of the basket. The only thing I can think is the shaft is not in far enough. There are a few threads showing beyond the nut. I had I hate to break that seal, but not sure what else to do, but take it all back apart and grease the shaft down.
@@3kgt1995 Dudes, I had the same issue, I simply omitted the extra spacer in the press assembly. My original install did not have this piece. Once I left it out it all fell together. Still need a hammer and a block of wood ...
Are used a old scissor jack from my old car and a 21 inch to before and it jacked up there real slow but it did come out it is pretty well stuck in there so be careful don't break your tub
I pulled my Cabrio apart... the bearings were fine. An issue with corrosion on the shaft preventing the basket from lifting (and getting an OL error). I'm contemplating NOT messing with the bearings (I bought a whole kit) and just popping in the new shaft. I know I SHOULD change the bearings but to me it seems like risk messing with something that is not an issue as is. Thoughts?
Hi Joe! Thanks for this. Mine is doing exactly this, except no leaking I have a repairman coming tomorrow. Expecting big $$. Considering just using it until it leaks or stops altogether. Then buy new. Don’t know at this point.
Hope it all works out. Eventually it will start to make more and more noise and leak water. I wouldn't let it get to that point if the water could cause any property damage.
Thanks for your reply. Estimate is $340. “If nothing else breaks while doing it.” Odd thing to say?! But I went ahead, asked that he order the part and put it on his schedule. New ones are about double that right now.
you remind me of Steve Martin I love the movies he plays in great video but I think I will buy the parts and see if my washer repair man will install them thanks for the video well explained
Good suggestion on the grease. Why do you need to do the job twice, 2 washers or did you botch the first attempt? Been there and done that whith wheel bearing replacements....very pricey and time consuming.
Hey Joe. I changed the bearings following your video. Everything went great but now all back together, it doesn’t run. Just makes a humming sound. Lid locks the way it should but does not spin. Moves freely by hand. Any suggestions?
When I knocked out bottom bearing I noticed the plastic cylindrical piece above where the bearing seats has a crack. Actually a small part missing. Will this affect seal?
Incredible video. Thank you. If I was younger this would have been just what I would need to fix our unit. Sadly, we are buying a new one. The nature of life today.
Unfortunately, Michigan was closed down for 9 months during the pandemic, so US made parts were not available. Fortunately, WP does have part plants in CHINA to supply their Vietnam factories. Quality is identical. There is also an assembly plant in Belgium for the UK market.
Ring on shaft does not seat snuggly against upper bearing (beat on it forever). Only like 2 threads sticking out bottom. Enough to get nut on but threads are not sticking out past washer. Seems like a lot of people are having this same issue. Any solution? Or call it good enough and hope for the best?
When I pulled the tub out, I heard water sloshing around inside of both the top and bottom. I am unable to see how water would get it, they are both sealed. Any insights? Thank you
I froze the shaft for about 14 hours. (same parts kit which was linked in this description) Slid right in. IDK, Maybe they saw your video and modified the part? lol. THANK YOU for the video. Also, did you get an additional seal with your Bearing Driver?? I did not. @41:56

I'm having trouble with my sister's. The top bearing won't sit flush. What size wrench or ratchet did you use? All I had was a 8 inch Cresent. I tightened it as much as I could but no luck. I'm hoping you had more leverage than I do and a bigger tool will get the job done.
@@monahumada7535 I had to remove the spacer today. Not sure what I might be risking by doing that.
@@terryjones9784 I was never able to get it right. My sister just bought another machine.
I had hard time to get shaft out. After watching your video, i used air chisel. Worked for me. Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the video. Same washer same problem removing the bin, couldnt find any manual on this thing. Your video saved my butt!
I'm having the same problem however mine is sitting higher and my pieces are all metal not plastic as shown. I can't get them to sit in properly
Also the adhesive should be dried before use.I think you did pretty good
Thank you for the feedback! Always appreciate constructive criticism! Where is the weep hole located?
Also, he greased parts that are gonna be submerged in water, aka, everything above the seal.
I am doing this today and I will say this video is helping me so much
Thanks for the vid. The most informative part of the whole thing was the "just buy a new one" at the end lol
Thank you for the Excellent Guide on Replacing the Bearings . Great stuff 😅👏👏👏👏👍👍👍👍👍
Thanks for the video! Did the 1st replacement for our Maytag washer 3 years ago. The OEM lasted 10 years then made that roaring noise but no leaks. Bought the Whirlpool bearing kit and tool and installed it 3 years ago but it's making that noise again.
Ugh must be frustrating to have to do this job again. Certainly wasn't trivial.
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC AT least I don't have to buy the bearing press and that pvc pipe. The new bearing comes with the silicone sealer and grease.
I just finished doing this. Glad that's done. Washer is quiet now
Hey Scott, I'm about to try and change my sister's out. Were you able to remove the tub without that pneumatic punch?
@@monahumada7535 I used a small scissor jack and a piece of wood to pop the wash tub from the shaft but it came right off.
@@scottlanders3812 OK, thanks
So glad I came across your video. I’ve been having the exact same issue you had getting the tub out. I came back to make sure I wasn’t missing something, and came across this… Thank you!
You're quite welcome glad I could help!
The only negative I had to say about the video is not giving us a call listing ahead of time I spent probably 20 to 30 minutes running up and down stairs out to the garage to grab tools.
1-1/4” deep well if you have an impact, pipe wrench and adjustable works too
1/4” socket
7/16” socket
3/8” socket
#2 Phillips
1/4” Allen
Dead blow Hammer
Lol, yeah, sorry about that - this was my first time doing this job. I wasn't sure what I was going to need.
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC gave me a good workout lol….and the washers fixed
Oh boy got my parts and tool in this week. Just watched the video and planning on trying it today or next weekend. Wife says just go buy a new one which means I gotta fix it now....... Wish me luck
Good luck! You can do it!
Well did it work
@@Hunter918-98 injured my shoulder last week moving a buddy, had to hold off on this for a week.
Thanks Joe. Your video was the best I've seen. You had some of the same problems I had. Thanks much!
Thank you I appreciate the compliment! Good luck with your repair :-)
Great video very patient doing the work. Going through all the details is very nice - not leaving any stone unturned 🙏🙏🙏🙏
Thank thank thank you!!! None of the other videos showed this exact model! I really appreciate you making this video! It was so easy to fix!
You are welcome!
Great video!! Going to try this fix on Sunday for my washer. Hopefully it will solve the leaking and noise!!
Thanks, dude!!! Just ordered the kit and will get it done asap. I have a way to make my own tool ( more money towards the Coronas!!) Again thank you for sharing your knowledge!!! Next time you pass by your fridge get one more Corona, you earned it!!!
Rotfl! Thanks and good luck with your repair!
I just did mine and when I was all done everything worked except the water pump. I pulled the hose off the water pump and there was parts from where the bearings went out inside the water pump. Don't forget to check that while you have your washer on its side.
Ouch! You had a really nice failure. Glad you were able to catch it and fix it
Man that was a task lol thanks for the video! You definitely showed the real way that things come apart. If only I had a air hammer I would’ve been in good shape but I got it and it’s working good! Thanks again!
Joe, thanks for the video. It was very helpful!
You have a lot more patience and tools than I do.
Thank you.
Thank you. I appreciate the compliment! Please consider subscribing if you found the video helpful if you have not done so already!
Thanks dude. Freezing the shaft for a week or so made it easy to install!
I have 3 days trying to get my tub,
I Will try dat tool thanks
I just did mine thanks for the video it helped a ton without it it would have taken forever trying to figure it out. I said a lot of swear words and it took several hours the shaft was a pain in the ass and I had a lot of rust because of it leaking. Next time i'm just gonna buy a new one lol that was a huge pain in the you know what.
Me too, see my learnings just posted
I am contemplating a bearing replacement, but my washing machine is like 20 years old. After reading some of the comments on here I have decided to purchase a second hand one, for a reasonable price. Save me the headache. ;)
Thanks for your help...I have a 8 year old washer and when it spins it if very load. I hope after watching you, I will be able to fix mine.
Great video, thanks for not editing out the hard stuff.
No problem 👍
I use a small scissor jack and 2"x4". The 2"x4" goes under the basket lip inside . The bottom of the jack on the shaft. It will make a pop sound when off.
Dude so happy you posted this. Repair guy says sound like your going to need a transmission wtf big money. Oh heck thanks again your a money saver lol
Very informative video. I have a different type "portable washer" however, perhaps the repair is the same principle. Thank you sir! God Bless!
Thank you for this video. Saved me a bunch of money!
Awesome and thank you for the video. No matter how you see or do this project its gonna be a PIA. I need to do this to my Cabrio washer and not looking forward to it. Might take your advice and buy a new W&D set LOL. BTW nice lawn.
Thank you very much and it was a great video and beneficial to complete this repair jib.
Thx Good sir, very helpful. Got my Whirlpool Washer working again with the kit and this video.
Great to hear!
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC hey I just disassembled my machine and changes out the bearings. Now it throws water in the bucket but doesn't spin. It just makes a humming noise coming from the motor on the bottom(my machine doesn't have a belt I guess it is a bit new). Wel what should I do because before it didn't do that
@@Angel-ft8bv can you spin the tub freely by hand?
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC yea
@@Angel-ft8bv is it possible that the stator windings were damaged? I believe they are fairly fragile
I am having the same issue
@@3kgt1995 Dudes, I had the same issue, I simply omitted the extra spacer in the press assembly.
My original install did not have this piece. Once I left it out it all fell together. Still need a hammer and a block of wood ...
Great video you kept it real in the real world. Thank you very much.
That video is awesome. Super appreciate your hard work on it. My wife just ordered the parts for me to do hers!!!!
Thoughts?
If the bearings are fine I wouldn't mess with it. Hold on to your kit for when they go bad
@@JoesGarageProductionsLLC i ended up doing it anyway. It wasn't really all that bad using the tool kit.
Wonder if you remember, after 4 years, how to orient that grey collar that houses the coil/stator...
you remind me of Steve Martin I love the movies he plays in great video but I think I will buy the parts and see if my washer repair man will install them thanks for the video well explained
Lol thanks! You're the third or fourth person on youtube to tell me that. I wish I was 1/10th as funny as Steve Martin!
Thank you for making and sharing this video! We enjoyed watching it and it took hours of not days off of our repair!
Glad it helped!
This is the exact model I have. Only makes thst loud noise on the last spin!
Amazing video brother !
Great video... I have to fix mine as well.
Thanks for your video it is very helpful!
Good Video, glad i watched it to the end, it got me in the mood of doin it :)

Thanks for the video. It really help me change the bearings on my washing machine.
Great to hear! Glad it helped!
Next time line up the washer with the bearing with some grease , nice video. Going to do it this weekend second time around
Good suggestion on the grease. Why do you need to do the job twice, 2 washers or did you botch the first attempt? Been there and done that whith wheel bearing replacements....very pricey and time consuming.
@@brianfortin9775 friend washer Was the second time around
Hey Joe. I changed the bearings following your video. Everything went great but now all back together, it doesn’t run. Just makes a humming sound. Lid locks the way it should but does not spin. Moves freely by hand. Any suggestions?
Thank you for this video.
When I knocked out bottom bearing I noticed the plastic cylindrical piece above where the bearing seats has a crack. Actually a small part missing. Will this affect seal?
Thanks, educational and entertaining. DIY is fun and rewarding.
Hi all, I'm at the seal part of this bear of a job.
What type of grease and adhesive should I use? Does it matter?
Great video, thanks!
Thank you! I believe both come in the OEM Whirlpool repair kit. I am not sure what aftermarket grease would be appropriate.
Incredible video. Thank you. If I was younger this would have been just what I would need to fix our unit. Sadly, we are buying a new one. The nature of life today.
Nice job, now you know why when I go on a call on one of these things and I find a bad bearing, I tell them it’ll be cheaper to go buy a new machine !
Yep you're probably right! It was a lot of work
Great tutorial man.. thks
At 17 minutes in. Yrr taking a part of the bottom. That you once replaced. What is the name of the part with the splins?
Gearing up for this tomorrow! Great video! THANK YOU
Thank you and good luck!!
Is the main shaft a hydraulic component? If it fails will it leak hydraulic fluid?
When I pulled the tub out, I heard water sloshing around inside of both the top and bottom. I am unable to see how water would get it, they are both sealed. Any insights? Thank you
It’s intentional. The tub ring has saltwater to counterbalance
Thumbs up for the video.....and the puppy.
Lol thanks!
I froze the shaft for about 14 hours. (same parts kit which was linked in this description) Slid right in. IDK, Maybe they saw your video and modified the part? lol. THANK YOU for the video.
Also, did you get an additional seal with your Bearing Driver?? I did not. @41:56
You work just like me....Is the washer still running after you fixed it...? If you say no, I may just go out and buy a new one.
Yep, still running great. We've been using maybe once or twice a day since this video was uploaded.
Your yard looks really nice? Is that St. Augustine or zoysia?
Thank you! The grass is St Augustine I believe.
I know why you were able to initially lift the drum. The top that was attached stopped the drums shielding from going up.
