Cars are all about being able to create emotion, the heritage, and what you like. You can tell this hits all 3 points the way Moog speaks about it! Good luck with her and I cannot wait to see what's in store!
You know what, I really like how MCM has gone down this path, after all. it's what makes you happy as the owner. Couldn't be happier for Moog and I honestly can not wait to see what's to come.
+TheSkidKid I was slightly pissed when I saw all the people bitching about the car... it's HIS car and seeing this video, you can clearly see that it's something special to him. I love MCM and I love classic Minis, so it's a win-win.
You don't understand the excitement I had when I saw Moog's new car! I'm a 18 year old from South Africa and I just bought myself a old Austin Mini! I am also going to start my car building journey with my Mini. Keep up with the awesome MCM videos , I'm addicted to this, watch it every day
I got a huge chuckle out of your intro. Back in 1967, when I was 15, I got my first car - a '62 Morris Mini (with a '65 850 engine !) I too learned on the driveway - back and forth. That must have driven the neighbours batty. The man who sold it to me raced a Cooper S at Mosport and refurbed Minis for sale to support his habit. So of course I hung around his garage and absorbed the Ambiance of Modding. He sold me a louvered hood (bonnet) for $2 ! That car was coloured white and black. I wanted British Racing Green. All the neighbourhood kids helped in sanding and body prep. One week before the paint, another mini at school beat me too it, so I went 'exotic (in my now 16 year old opinion) and went with a 'Corvette "hugger orange" That car glowed !. I still have the Mini Jones so you can be sure I will enjoy every one of your adventures with this beauty. Cheers from Canada
by classic do you mean that body style or an actual older car. Moog's is a 96 or newer model which usually aren't too expensive. I guess your location can play a role in price but as long as they were exported to where you live they shouldn't be too much.
Classic, as in, the marque used for the non-BMW cars. There are a few of them in U.S. but it's difficult to find one that is less than $10k USD. Their recent popularity has definitely raised their value.
+Ryan Conaway your best bet is to have one imported from the UK. Find an importing company willing to work with you, find a Mini that's at least 25 years old, and have it shipped over. I was looking into it recently and it would be pretty easy to have a decent car here for 4-5k USD
This makes me want a Mini even more, especially since I found the perfect one the other day. £4,200 and in mint condition, the owners claim to have spent thousands on it and it shows. New windshield, grill, wheels and tires, handbrake handle, gearshift knob, bucket seats and twin exhausts. To top it of it's the 1275 engine. Perfect.
personally lived in the uk for a year or so a good buddy or mine had a cooper. I didnt thibk nothing of it. but let me tell you, driving a mini is kickass. it feels like a gotcart and easy to modify to get alot og horsepower inder the hood. a car worth driving in a lifetime.
TheReckoning I think that's irrelevant when another post is made recognizing spelling mistakes (versus making a quick edit), and the only mistakes made are typos of letters that are adjacent to the correct letters on a QWERTY keyboard...
Moog, I am basically going through what you went through when you were 15 years old and you are such a big inspiration and role model in my life. I plan to get my first car at 15 and learn almost anything along with getting my license this year. I would like to thank you and Marty for making these videos to inspire young car enthusiasts like myself. Keep doing what you do best :)
I see so many performance mods on minis where I live, one guy even went full on with a supercharged race tuned engine and box, looks insane haha love these cars, and btw they did these spec cars for the UK too, the 2001/2002 mini Cooper were the last of them, but the most important thing about this is just the passion in your voice as you speak about them moog, they speak to you like nothing else ever could and I don't think I've seen you out of every video you guys ever made be so happy just to own such an everyday car. That's pure love right there.
This walk-around is so great, and the quality of your videos is getting better and better. You can tell that love is put into every one of the videos you do. This MINI looks absolutely mad, and as I've said before my '06 is so jealous. While I agree that the 'new' MINI is more complicated and maybe BMW just slapped the MINI badge on, but, I think that the first generation big MINIs have something to offer as well. There is a huge modding culture with my R53, and I'm super happy to be a part of it. My german R53 is unlike any other german car I've driven (granted it hasn't been a lot) in that it has character, and just wants to be thrashed. My buddy and I had the opportunity to throw it around the corners for the first time since buying it two weeks ago. No matter how hard we pushed it, the car just seemed to be begging for more. I'm so excited to begin modding it, and thanks to MCM I feel like I have a good understanding of what to tackle. It WILL be autocrossed, and it will be loved. The R53 certainly isn't a classic MINI; there is nothing that can replace it. Let's just agree that it's no slouch, either. You guys rock, and thanks again for helping me begin my modding journey.
So,my neighbour has one of these, but it's in awful condition. Hasn't run in 8 years and has been sitting around for like 6. Probably getting it tomorrow and like moog: Starting my car career on one of these little beasts.
+PolishXlion lol that's not as bad as my neighbor who has a classic 911 who has weeds growing inside the car. you don't know how much i want to restore it... though i'm not sure if it can be restored.
Really looking forward to see this develop. There's been a lot of hate for this car in the RUclips comments and Facebook page, but you just need to see how passionate Moog is about the car to realise how great this series will be. Perhaps it'll open a few minds along the way.
their was/is firm in the UK that made/make 16v heads for the A series ..i read in a magazine ..Fast Car maybe in the early 1990s maybe about then ..i remember the 1st 6 month of production all the kits went to Japan ..i think in a felt lined mahogany box ..i think the name of the company was Kad....that will be a good mod as its a period one for the car if you can get 1
+david appleton People don't seem to know how tunable these cars are. I run a tarmac rally mini which runs about 140 horses from a 1340 cc engine. A friend of ours runs a modified 1.4 mini that runs 190 horses. In a car that ways 600 kilos, thats a fucking lot!
+ganners09 it takes a lot of money to modify the a series to that extent though doesn't it? well, if you've got it why not! I appreciate keeping it original rather than changing to a different engine type.
There are a few of us who remember the original mini, the kid down the street (6ft 7 in) bought one and had it shipped to Baltimore, USA from Australia. He drove it for years. But, he is young and I am old as dirt--I guess we both remember them very fondly. Good show! Cheers mate (hope that is correct)! Good luck!
8:35 I so hope that Jack is on the subframe not just the floor pan, you will get a horrible dent in the floor if it is (I should know, mine has them -.-)
Starting to respect minis and small cars for their features now watching this Video. Thank you Moog, you have completely changed my whole perspective on classical minis.
This is probably the first time I saw Moog's eyes glowing when he talks about a specific car. A car with history, especially those related to your childhood, is always special. Nice one mate!
I get the feeling of going back to the roots as far as your first car, just bought a z3 which was my first car until I crashed it but when the new one was mine I was literally crying from joy and I haven't cried since I was 12
Do an Install tutorial on METH injections on the whatever F/I car you have. Or do two videos and test meth injections on an N/A motor to see if there are gains or not.
Moog and Marty both with cars that make them grin... Nuff said ! Happy for you both fellas and looking forward to the input that happiness has on the show. : )
I'm glad you threw the minis rally history and John Cooper out there. that's the history I love about the mini. it's a vary capable car with a heritage unlike most others. good luck and great times with it. keep up the awesome show.
+becton98 We still are good at making cars but it's now much more specialised from kit cars, race cars (most of the F1 cars and GT cars are built here) and top end sports luxury coupes. It's just the general family road cars we don't build anymore.
+becton98 My Peugeot 206 GTi isn't that bad (built in the old Sunbeam factory). I've just had to replace the central locking, speedo and tacho (all parts made in France). All the British parts are fairing well. What Leyland really couldn't do was manage a workforce.
Remember when MCM covered stuff that actually would be useful to 99% of drivers and not just "Look at the cool shit we can play with now that we're famous?" videos?
They give us this content for free. That means, they can do whatever the f##k they want without being obligated to one person who liked their older stuff.
+Ariel G. This isn't content. This is non-content. This is gloating about how rich and wonderful they are. What made MCM popular was them showing what normal people could do to improve their cars in fun and affordable ways. Not them going on about the awesome shit they're doing now that they're getting enough money from performance parts manufactures via parts placement to be able to drop 50,000 grand in parts and another 20,000 in labor into their latest pet project.
Really great to see classic Minis getting attention and upgrades and stuff. I've had, and loved, my R53 since new (build date 9/03) and want to import a 1995-2000 sometime soon. Gotta have a proper classic Mini with the new gen :D
Minis are epic vehicles, my mom had a race tuned Innocenti and an ex neighbour of mine used to have one with a slightly peppier 1.3 before he got his lotus..... Fun cars, definitely fun cars.
I really enjoy this style of video. It has a different feel from all the other automotive videos out there and I find it rather interesting. I love the way Moog shares a bunch about the history of these minis It would be really cool to see more videos like this form you guys.
I drove an Austin Mini for my first car for 2 years. 10 Years on I still own it, Sat in my mates garage while me and my brother restore it. Its been 8 years since I last drove her so i cant wait for her to be finished. Please dont do any stupid mods, although my replica cooper s rally exhaust that my dad had made when he was 18 still sounds great and sets car alarms off as i drive past :)
moog you are my hero for buying a mini knowing what people would think! its a shame all people think about nowadays is who has the bigger engine or the faster car. When really its about the history, the sentimental value and enjoyment of the car you drive. not to mention the fact that modifying a car is all about making cheaper car then a Ferrari drive like one and customising it to your own taste and style. Looking forward to seeing what you do to it man good luck!
I have a BMW Mini Cooper S with the supercharged engine in my yard at the moment. I'm lending it from a friend since police took his license away for some time. It has 150 kilowatts or thereabouts and it is hell of a fun machine to drive. And the supercharger whine is epic and always turns heads. I haven't driven those old Minis but the R53 is great.
Really want my Mini back now! Best mods I did to mine were: Quick rack (2.2 turns lock to lock) custom fit Subaru bucket seats, 7.5 inch Cooper front brakes and stage 1 tuning kit. Proper little Go-Kart!
A sweet smell and a light film on the inside of the windshield is 99% going to be the heater core. Glad you were able to replace it and find the part. Keep doing things in a Might way
I just love my classic mini to bits. There are days where you wonder why you have it, consider selling it, as it is just sapping money. But whenever you get in it and turn her on, you forget all that and just have fun.
To be completely honest, I don't know a mate who's parent's didn't own a mini at least once in their life. The mini is one of the most iconic vehicles to date, and it really shows.
I enjoy seeing Moog being that happy with his car so much, you kind of feel his excitement and it takes you in completely. Huge Mini fan (if the Username didn't state it enough ;D )
I too got a mini for my first car, a 2005 base model convertible with a 5 speed manual, and I'm the first one in my family to own one. My grandparents had bought it off of a family friend of theirs with 59,000 miles just a couple of years ago. I always thought these were pretty cool looking cars but I never knew how well they performed until I drove mine for the first time. I had never driven a standard before but I eventually got the hang of it. I was especially surprised how well they handle in the snow and I live in Buffalo, NY. My mom's 08 Acadia is front wheel drive with traction control but it's awful in the snow even with brand new tires. My mini has a black paint job and the peanut butter black interior along with the upgraded Harman/Kardon sound system and chrome trimmed interior. I'm pretty happy with the sound system but I do wish the woofers were a little better. Although the car has been quite problematic for me, it's still a lot of fun to drive. I replaced the clutch last year since it was slipping badly and I just took it to my trusted mechanic yesterday for a new transmission and pressure plate. But since I've owned this car, I've learned a lot about owning a car other than the basic maintenance. My brother will be getting his permit soon and he's been a car enthusiast longer than I have and I'm sure he'd love to learn how to drive a standard. Heck maybe when I get a newer car I'll pass my mini on to him. If anyone is planning to buy a used first gen mini, I would recommend getting at least a cooper s with the 6 speed manual. From the research I've done, the CVT automatic and the 5 speed manuals were poorly designed and built by BMW while the 6 speed manual was built by Getrag and they're a lot more robust. The 5 speed manual becomes problematic between 60,000-80,000 miles and there aren't any rebuild kits for any of the transmissions so if something goes wrong, you have to buy a whole new unit. You could also have a 6 speed installed in a base model (non s) but it's a very expensive job because you need new shift linkages, starter motor, clutch kit, and more.
Saw one of these in a Dark Metallic Grey with Light Grey striping and roof at a little car show in Lake Tahoe this past weekend. If it would have had a for sale sign on it, I'd have sold my '06 Evo9 and my '85 Corolla GTS Hatch to own it. These cars are so friggin awesome and fun to drive.
Love the new/old Moogini! One of my bucket-list project cars so one of these days I'll mesasge you Moog with questions on that... Best of luck and more videos of this cool machine please!
I have a Audi B5 A4 as a DD, a Porsche 993 for fun... I think this will be the 3rd. I've always loved Mini's since I was a kid after the original Italian Job. "Self-preservation society!" Good on you Moog. Looking forward to more Mini vids.
Honestly, I wasn't enthused by the addition of a FWD Mini to the MCM universe, but having watched this video I've come to realize that there is a genuine passion and history for Moog with these cars. I'm glad you guys (Marty and Moog) continue to entertain and educate us with these videos, despite the actions of us "fans" (there's no excuse for the harassment you and your families have suffered from people who claim to love the show). I thank you. On a sidenote: is that a Honda CBR600 F3 in the back ground?
Thanks for sharing all of the history on the mini, I didn't know much about them. That was awesome and I look forward to seeing all of the new mods! Thanks guys
I really like how MCM has turned out, like Marty and Moog have said many times, they went from to blokes working on cars in their mums driveway and now they are traveling overseas and driving Camry's *cough* Ferrari's *cough* the videos produced have the quality of a car show hosted on T.V. MCM is great.
OK -- I have to take back my comments from the unavailing, this car and so randy!!! It is neat that you are going back to your roots with a car that was the first you had. I wish I could go back to my roots, I had a 1965 Mustang Convertible with the 289 HO engine. I am looking forward to see what you have in store for Mini Moog
Cars are all about being able to create emotion, the heritage, and what you like. You can tell this hits all 3 points the way Moog speaks about it! Good luck with her and I cannot wait to see what's in store!
thats true :3
Omg Chris didn't know you watch MCM! Love your vids!
+ChrisFix Big fan from New Zealand Chris, awesome vids.
+ChrisFix I dont know if my day can get any better. Two of my favorite RUclipsrs in one place XD
ArmedTechie MCM is great! They do an awesome job filming/editing and an even better job showing the passion of the car culture!
You know what, I really like how MCM has gone down this path, after all. it's what makes you happy as the owner. Couldn't be happier for Moog and I honestly can not wait to see what's to come.
+TheSkidKid Love the car. We're both so excited about it and we've got really exciting plans for it!
+Mighty Car Mods Awesome to hear. Looking forward guys!

maybe now moog will do a driving course, possibly learn hand positions for cornering?

I see what you did there, Moog
Damn. Beat me to it

Maaaaaaaaaaad! Getting the notification that your video just went live made my week and it's only Monday! I love you guys!
Watching this makes me want to buy a Classic Mini....
+Boosted do I if pick one up cheap enthuogh there only gaining value today there going for £12.000 plus now good investment
+Boosted Ever since I got a 2006 MCS, I've wanted a Classic Mini, too. They are getting expensive in the U.S., though.
by classic do you mean that body style or an actual older car. Moog's is a 96 or newer model which usually aren't too expensive. I guess your location can play a role in price but as long as they were exported to where you live they shouldn't be too much.

+Mighty Car Mods Can we get a walk through of the new MCM HQ?
When you said the outside isn't changing it made me sooo happy :D
First look inside the new MCM headquarters!
That interior is so fucking dope. The green leather/wood trim/billet hardware combination is too nice. Looks like a really special car.
This walk-around is so great, and the quality of your videos is getting better and better. You can tell that love is put into every one of the videos you do. This MINI looks absolutely mad, and as I've said before my '06 is so jealous.

+PolishXlion record it :D just set up a camera and if you're bored cut it together and upload it :D
Well, another update. it's actually 1981 with a 1991 engine. Too much rest. Not touching it.
+PolishXlion lol that's not as bad as my neighbor who has a classic 911 who has weeds growing inside the car. you don't know how much i want to restore it... though i'm not sure if it can be restored.
wakojako49 THis one I would be able to but decided that it's not worth it.
Now for Marty and their new garage/workshop aka not Marty's moms driveway
He didn't mention the most iconic owner of the Mini, Mr. Bean. :) #MrBean25
Really looking forward to see this develop. There's been a lot of hate for this car in the RUclips comments and Facebook page, but you just need to see how passionate Moog is about the car to realise how great this series will be. Perhaps it'll open a few minds along the way.
It's awesome to see how happy you are with your new car Moog.
Send it to the Bad Obsession guys for a "Binky #2" 😜
Don't blame me if you RUclips search that and get hooked!

it's not a real mini if it isn't leaking, trust me

Both great choices but even better tuuuurrrbbooooo
+bob jane Why not both? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
***** there is a black honda motorbike in the background maybe it's a hint!
+Corey Cvetovac ew no.
Was this moogs new car?
+Braidan Miners Yes it is.
Yep indeed it is:)
+Art Vandelay Why? It's an awesome car
***** they are called Might "CAR" Mods. Not Mighty JDM Mods. Which this car still is BTW.

I'd love to have a mini like that .. But unfortunately I can't fit in them and drive comfortably :(
I get the feeling of going back to the roots as far as your first car, just bought a z3 which was my first car until I crashed it but when the new one was mine I was literally crying from joy and I haven't cried since I was 12
Glad you included the history lesson. Definitely the kind of thing a lot of car fans won't necessarily know.
how much power does this 1.3 make?
Something around 70hp?
the power to weight ratio makes it usable
+Micheal Hamon But with a modern 1.3 that can make 110hp easy, it would be sweet.
+IIGrayfoxII But the car is so light a couple dudes can lift it up no problem.
+IIGrayfoxII Probably approaching 100hp?
+IIGrayfoxII yes you must however consider that 110hp engine is hauling around a car usually twice the weight of a mini...
MAAAD!
looking forward to any mods you do to it and the periodic reviews that you will be doing, are you still playing with your S2000? VTEC YO!!
It's on Carsales Australia
+Burnsy for how much?
I think it was like $27000 or $21000 aus cash
+kdude965

I know the feeling, started with a Citroën 2CV, and i still miss that car, well done Moog!
I've just bought a classic 1992 Mini and I'm 15, it's for me to learn in and fix up before I can take my test, cannot wait!!!! :)
I'm early, let me think of a joke...
Honda
Do an Install tutorial on METH injections on the whatever F/I car you have. Or do two videos and test meth injections on an N/A motor to see if there are gains or not.

Moog and Marty both with cars that make them grin... Nuff said ! Happy for you both fellas and looking forward to the input that happiness has on the show. : )
I'm glad you threw the minis rally history and John Cooper out there. that's the history I love about the mini. it's a vary capable car with a heritage unlike most others. good luck and great times with it. keep up the awesome show.
Sooooo Hayabusa swap?
+GunFun ZS yessssssssss
+GunFun ZS or even zx14r
Any Liter plus superbike engine.
+GunFun ZS would loose to much value on the car but bet it would be amazing
Want one!!!!
back when britain was good at making cars
Back when Britain was good full stop
They gave us F-Types and Evoques. So im happy lol.
+becton98 and don't forget Lotus!!! Sort of important in the car world
Song Title at 4:40 ?!?!?!?
That Mini cooper looks amazing it goes really fast on the race track Good job Moog 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏
Great video guys :) and awesome job hosting Brandcast! We were the content managers for the screen animations. Loved it!
first
U are first
-_-
Remember when MCM covered stuff that actually would be useful to 99% of drivers and not just "Look at the cool shit we can play with now that we're famous?" videos?
sad but true /:
They give us this content for free. That means, they can do whatever the f##k they want without being obligated to one person who liked their older stuff.
They still show usefull stuff
+Krizzzy90898 Rarely.
So excited for the future episodes. You guys are amazing. Never thought we'd see a mini on here but you guys bring the unexpected to every episode.
Really great to see classic Minis getting attention and upgrades and stuff. I've had, and loved, my R53 since new (build date 9/03) and want to import a 1995-2000 sometime soon. Gotta have a proper classic Mini with the new gen :D
Mad.... I am so jealous. I miss hooning around in my little old 76 1100 S Mini Clubman, they are such a great little car.
Love it really miss my mini, I love your mini loads and what you have done to it nice on mate 👍
moog you are my hero for buying a mini knowing what people would think! its a shame all people think about nowadays is who has the bigger engine or the faster car.
I love it when passion is made so contagious. Thank you guys
Does anyone remember MCM's very first intro? That really shows how far MCM has come!
Now I want a mini! It's so nice to see the love you have for your car.
Always wanted a mini, and now even more. This might be my first car.
Awesome car. I love it. Any car with history wrapped around the personal passion is always a winner. I hope you love every second of it.
Really want my Mini back now!
Best mods I did to mine were: Quick rack (2.2 turns lock to lock) custom fit Subaru bucket seats, 7.5 inch Cooper front brakes and stage 1 tuning kit. Proper little Go-Kart!
This channel is only getting better! Thank you for putting time and effort into these videos!
Moog I think your car is fucking awesome. Don't let anyone tell you otherwise. That thing is a gem. It's mad man.
Cool car. The new super charged jcw I had was mega fun to drive but I'm sure these older ones are awesome.
I found mcm by chance I wanted to put an iPad in my car and found your video. I was hooked since then luv the videos lads keep up the great work
that mini is incredibly awesome, looking forward to new vids guys, kinda plowed through all your stuff now:P
I enjoy seeing Moog being that happy with his car so much, you kind of feel his excitement and it takes you in completely.
Huge Mini fan (if the Username didn't state it enough ;D )
I can't believe I've been watching MCM since 50,000 subs. These boys have come a long way!
Thanks for sharing another great video Moog , can't wait to see what you have planned !
Great little ride....
You could also have a 6 speed installed in a base model (non s) but it's a very expensive job because you need new shift linkages, starter motor, clutch kit, and more.
loving the mini Moog , nice to see you guys trying something different, look forward to future mods.
.....GO THE MINIS!!!
At first I was not a fan. But after reading about the racing history I found a new appreciation for them. the old ones at least.
Still waiting for you guys to upload the next video. Waits taking so long, I can'r wait any long.
I had an 88 mini cooper with the 998 engine in it when I was stationed in England. only car I've owned that I genuinely miss.
I have a Audi B5 A4 as a DD, a Porsche 993 for fun... I think this will be the 3rd. I've always loved Mini's since I was a kid after the original Italian Job. "Self-preservation society!"
Good on you Moog.
On a sidenote: is that a Honda CBR600 F3 in the back ground?
for a small car it's pretty iconic especially in rally racing. can't wait to see how it looks
Thanks for sharing all of the history on the mini, I didn't know much about them. That was awesome and I look forward to seeing all of the new mods!
Thanks guys
Moog, when I saw the mini, I was like "wtf..." But now, you won me over and I can appreciate your choice.
I was a little skeptical when I saw the last video, now I'm back on the wagon. That is a true mad car that any car lover would understand.
Those mini Austins are soo maaad i really wanted to have one back in the days
I really like how MCM has turned out, like Marty and Moog have said many times, they went from to blokes working on cars in their mums driveway and now they are traveling overseas and driving Camry's *cough* Ferrari's *cough* the videos produced have the quality of a car show hosted on T.V. MCM is great.
cool seeing you go back to your roots sweet looking mini
OK -- I have to take back my comments from the unavailing, this car and so randy!!! It is neat that you are going back to your roots with a car that was the first you had. I wish I could go back to my roots, I had a 1965 Mustang Convertible with the 289 HO engine. I am looking forward to see what you have in store for Mini Moog
