Jimbers Wimbers and good time too ! you see the grand tour just ended ... and new stuff are being up on youtube so you have more time to spend ... i mean waist
They're back!!! I think this year if you guys come to the East Coast, we should go drifting (we were so close but no cigar at SEMA last year)! Cant wait to see what is to come!
Intro music isn't to bad either ;) You guys should defs do more behind the scenes live streams, I Think a lot of people would want that myself including!
I think MCM is arguably one of the best programmes ever to come out of RUclips. From the production and editing to the factual info it provides - its a masterpiece in all aspects.
Finally you are getting close to mixing the voices and music at the same volume! Well done guys. No more decreasing and increasing the volume constantly during a video. :)
Watching the full playlist of the mini builds, and I just noticed that this video was released one year and one day after the completion video of the supercharged version! So neat! 😎🤙
I was so afraid at the beginning of the video that the complete swap would be done in one episode, so happy to find out at the end of the episode that it isn't finished yet because that means another episode is coming!
Great video guys, really impressed by the mechanical details given instead of the machine just working! Thumbs up! One question; What is the cost of that engine cradle?
I feel like an NA B series is a lot slower than what you're thinking. The original car only weigh like 300kg more than the Mini, and half of the kids with them gut them. Like.. if it's NA I just don't see how it's going to be as satisfying as the other MCM wagons you guys built. Oh well will just have to wait and see what it turns out like.
i have a feeling this thing will not remain n/a for its whole life. but honestly it'll prolly be supercharged, i imagine trying to fit all the turbo components in there
That's the only proper Mini build on RUclips (outside a few, but sadly undocumented ones). This one...just a kit swap inside a car that was worth more original, much more, now it's worthless.
aserta Well yes tho that Binky is the only "proper" build and no to this being worthless. I think when a car is your hobby it's what it is worth to you what's important. Not what it's worth to others :) I think this is a really cool build too.
When Honda used a long shaft and a short shaft the long shaft bent into a corkscrew and caused major vibration. And, that was with their 50 HP engine! By making the long shaft into two pieces they were able to keep the shafts relatively thin without it twisting up.
Just after I'd passed my driving test at 17 a friend of mine, with a family racing history, had a 1275 Clubman GT worked on by Colin Clan. I had a hat he wanted, the deal was I could I drive the 1275 in return for the hat. A lot of years later the memory still makes me smile and shiver!
Got something you will be interested in, Project Binky, by Bad Obsession Motorsport, another mini mod to fit a big engine, there are quite a lot of episodes so get some beer in. It is mad.
Daniel Streefkerk there's only two of them and they have to work alongside of doing project binky, it's a miracle they get them out as frequently as they do hats off to the guys!
The only way you're getting a 2jz mini is if you had more money than sense. You'd have to build a tube frame RWD pseudo replica. Even if you could modify a real mini to fit a 2JZ, the weight on, and power going, to the front wheels would ruin any chance of it ever driving properly. Infact, you'd basically have to build a new chassis to have a show. I did a quick google and there appears to be a few people claiming to have RWD minis, but they're using bike engines etc rather than a 3l straight 6.
Vax Buster looks like a Rover mini. The sports pack arches and the fuel injection (looks like an MPI but I thought Japan had SPI engines only) shows it's a late 90s mini which is a rover. So I think the name should be hover
This is such an odd episode, because Moog has these very brief moments during when he's discussing how they've got to cut into the sheet-metal of the car where you can see in his eyes that it's almost like he realizes he's having to butcher what was a perfect car before he decided he needed more power, and since the entire car is apart (having spent what was almost certainly several hours if not a few days of both his/Marty's as well as the other guys' time), there's really no turning back at this point. I haven't seen the other videos yet, so who knows, I'm sure he's going to love the final product. But in this video, he's definitely got a few moments where he's trying to hide that he's feeling overwhelmed at chopping up a car that's special to him.
You have a 3 post mount from a dc2 integra. You need a 2 post mount meant for a b16a2 from a usdm 99-00 civic si OR you need to simply change the post itself to an integra type r post mount from a dc2 integra
How much does that B16 & trans weigh compared to the original mini engine & trans? I'm guessing the difference is pretty big, and it's probably going to cause a ton of understeer.
From my research the best answer I can find is about 150 kg vs. about 185 kg so the difference is 35 kg or 77 lbs. Chances are the overall weight will be very similar, given they also removed a supercharger and other parts not included in the weight I listed above, the tube frame they are putting in probably weighs less than what it replaces, and they also cut out a lot of metal. Iron old engine vs. aluminum new engine makes a big difference.
+Carsten Langbo all these fanboys are hyping this up like its the first to be done. They are literally buying a bolt in kit that has been made for 10+ years by several manufacturers..
And to answer your question, it's actually going to end up a tad lighter if he trashes the AC system... The kit comes with a huge amount of unjust able suspension parts and with slight tweaking the handling will be better
Brave man Moog to cut up a pristine JDM mini, but it's your car and that's what makes awesome car, the balls to do the unthinkable. By the way, have you checked out the Project Binky Build that is a Mini with Celica GT4 running gear
5 speed gearboxes have been available for the mini for years!!!!! (or they have here in the UK.) also they can be tuned to well over 100hp without even needing a supercharger on the A series
I'm aware they lack power compared to the Honda engine, but my point being the lack of 5 speed gearbox seemed to be the main reason for the swap. by the time all the other parts that needed modified or changed have been done, its cheaper (certainly here) to replace the gearbox in the sump of the A series engine. besides that, a FWD Honda conversion isn't a new thing, there were V-tec powered minis here at least 15 years ago! Project Binky (see mad obsession motorsport channel) is currently undergoing a full running gear swap (including all wheel drive) with a Toyota Celica GT4. Hyabusa bike engines are also common swaps and make the minis faster than the V-tec conversions
dont get me wrong i would love to own one but considering what mcm is about, i'd rather see a b16 mini swap rather than a car i can see and drive if wanted to today by going to a dealership
@2:47 Turbo Yoda's Honda reaction! Priceless... I went o.0 when I found out he doesn't like SR20s. That's been described as one of the most tunable, reliable, best designed modder engines of all time. I wonder why he doesn't like it?
Numinous shitty head design. They're a dime a dozen, that's why they're so widely used. Plus they sound like farting tractors. Owned and built a few SRs.
Elxmo Perhaps stock, but I've heard their potential is top-notch and they have like zero design weaknesses. Heads can easily be worked over and stuffed with new cams to flow a ton more, for instance. I watched a video that described it once. I wish I could remember why they were saying the SR20 is so good. But they were quite adamant about its superiority.
Josh Deason That's what it was, IIRC. And I heard that besides that, it's a very well-designed motor, durable, etc., sort of like a 4-banger equivalent to the 2JZ or RB26.
Elxmo Good info. Head flow isn't as important on turbo cars, however, as boost is a game-changer and can be cranked up with proper turbo selection. That's actually one of the reasons Honda heads flow so well and rev so high - they have to in pursuit of good power, being N/A.
A K20 swapped classic Mini would definitely be an amazing thing. Particularly if you decide that torque steer isn't something to be concerned about and you decide to slap a twin-scroll turbocharger onto it. The B16B is also a great option, but the twin-scroll turbo is still a fun idea if you hate your front tires.
Brilliant video, brillient idea, can't wait for the next episode. My favourite non supercar ever with unicorn power just brilliant.
Jimbers Wimbers well said my friend!
Jimbers Wimbers and good time too !
you see the grand tour just ended ... and new stuff are being up on youtube so you have more time to spend ... i mean waist
Jimbers Wimbers search RUclips for the monster of a project called 'project binky', prepare to have a new favourite
Spif Spaf - cheers pal, just searched to check what it was and it caught my interest :) will watch a few episodes tonight and get back to ya 👍
Екатерина Калинина wow
They're back!!! I think this year if you guys come to the East Coast, we should go drifting (we were so close but no cigar at SEMA last year)! Cant wait to see what is to come!
Yes, I want to see a ChrisFix MCM collaboration video.
Me to it would be brilliant! No matter if its a challenge or something like MCM 2 it be MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAD!
Mighty Chris Mods, lets make it happen!
Imagine ChrisFix narrating while Moog and Marty do all the work, hahaha.
Whatever they do it would be amazing.
yess make chrisfix mcm collab, that would be awesomee
YAY!!! another 50 years of MCM!!! sweeeeet!
Who has been with Mighty Car Mods for at least 5 years?
been since 2009
rambow70 since 2012
I have been Watched since 2008 it has been wonderful show Very Episode
I'm a Project Binky addict and found this as a much needed fix until the next Binky
Same!
Aussie Binkie!
And it still goes on!!!
Yep
Get the funk out!!
New intro is awesome!!
That's certainly a dream car of mine. I love small cars; look at how effortlessly the wheels are lifted off!
That brake kit looks beautiful! The builds are getting pretty serious at MCM!
Embrace Racing ikr, this year is looking like it will be a beast.
I stopped making food to watch this.
I stopped doing paperwork. :D
aerosaaber I stopped sex for this
haha awesome same here!!!!
Tray Muse I stopped watching midget porn for this!
Stopped breathing for this
Watching the full playlist of the mini builds, and I just noticed that this video was released one year and one day after the completion video of the supercharged version! So neat! 😎🤙
I love it when turbo yoda is on the show. He is my hero!!
I was so afraid at the beginning of the video that the complete swap would be done in one episode, so happy to find out at the end of the episode that it isn't finished yet because that means another episode is coming!
Bobster aQ
Watching this episode again in 2023. One of the greatest. I sure miss Turbo Yota, bring 'em back!
Great video guys, really impressed by the mechanical details given instead of the machine just working! Thumbs up! One question; What is the cost of that engine cradle?
"Will this Honda fit in my Mini?"
Well done, Moog. Well done.
Covid-19 lockdown, no better time to revisit some classic MCM builds, cheers Marty & Moog.
Same goes to me
Far out. Re watching. Look how far you’ve come. Would love to see the mini make an appearance in a new video
That cute little speech of encouragement at the end. You guys are great.
I can tell Moog is emotionally connected to this Mini. Tearing it apart is taking a toll on his mojo.
My soul shattered in pieces when Moog said about going naturally aspirated.
THIS is what got me into MCM. Now I'm re watching
Rewatching the whole Mini series for the first time in 7 years and pleased to see Woody!
does this void the warranty
Yes and insurance 😂😂
Man, I love that Mini! Simply beautiful.
Had to come back to watch this over again for the third time
This is actually one of the few car channels that are not like "look i bought a super car!!! Subscribe!!!"
Killed the Stradman here. Still enjoy his channel tho
Fark, when Turbo Yoda is involved im happy.
The 90's the B16B actually has about 20 to 30 more hp compared to a b16a/b16a1. a B16B has roughly the same output as a B18C engine.
i have a feeling this thing will not remain n/a for its whole life. but honestly it'll prolly be supercharged, i imagine trying to fit all the turbo components in there
Turbo Yoda's reaction to the new engine was hilarious
Do you know project Binky. A 4x4 sleeper
yeah you guys should seriously watch this. Mini build taken to the next level!
That's the only proper Mini build on RUclips (outside a few, but sadly undocumented ones). This one...just a kit swap inside a car that was worth more original, much more, now it's worthless.
aserta yeah but I doubt moog is getting rid of it for a long time
aserta Well yes tho that Binky is the only "proper" build and no to this being worthless. I think when a car is your hobby it's what it is worth to you what's important. Not what it's worth to others :) I think this is a really cool build too.
Just caught up last night. It's going to be a little monster.
Amazing channel with great diy videos and cool adventures
as a Honda enthusiast this makes me happy. oh so happy
they'll turbo it later, he can't resist it forever
When Honda used a long shaft and a short shaft the long shaft bent into a corkscrew and caused major vibration. And, that was with their 50 HP engine! By making the long shaft into two pieces they were able to keep the shafts relatively thin without it twisting up.
This is the first video that I watched with MCM, i was hooked after, thanks for all your videos.
its 1:30am and i need sleep... wait MCM dropped a video, well looks like another late night!
Welshy haha
Wish they would start to do more vids like this
Keep the supercharged engine and put it in a go kart or something.
HadSta they should build that supercharged mini engine on the back of a drift trike😁
14:46 Alan quietly trying to put a turbo on it. Genius!
supercharged mini powered go kart? now thats project!
I really love this build . Super fast car and Honda reliable
But I hate the hater's ever one builds the car they want.
I'm sorry I can't watch you rip out this mini's soul.
5:30
this part is for you
Why doesn't he go eviscerate another bloody mini and leave that rare jdm one alone, it was a finished project and a one off.
Jon Donnelly if they put a tritec or prince in would you feel better?
I think roadkill has rubbed off badly on them :(
Jon Donnelly yeah fair enough, i have read more comments and realized the rarity of the car, shoulda used an older more common one at the very least.
I'd like to see this mini vs project binky when it's done. Make for an epic episode!!!
Mark Walsh binky will eat this. Turbo 4wd and fabricated from scratch, but it would be great to see, if they ever finish binky
Remember when MCM was about not knowing a lot about cars but learning, and doing fix's\mods\upgrades in their drive way.
Got something you will be interested in, Project Binky, by Bad Obsession Motorsport, another mini mod to fit a big engine, there are quite a lot of episodes so get some beer in. It is mad.
Finally the mystery of the long screwdriver in my late Dad's toolkit is solved! He was always working on these types of engine.
Wooo!!! 2017 can finally begin!!!
my b18 swapped mini set on fire last year! :( still rebuilding it
John Edwards unicorn farts are highly flammable
So weird to look back at this episode and see Turbo Yoda in a proper work shirt! The Skid Factory has a much more laid back feeling to it!
Sick video. The original Mini was awesome.
Best mini sleeper is being built by Bad Obsession Motorsports.
Daniel Streefkerk there's only two of them and they have to work alongside of doing project binky, it's a miracle they get them out as frequently as they do hats off to the guys!
The anticipation kills me! I can't believe the detail on their work.
they dont post enough videos however
Scott thats because they film it as they build it, a build like that takes a lot of time
Will be good when its done just impatient
Long time subscriber, first time commenter, parent of a 9 year old. Aww shit son.
I was hoping for a 2j, they always make me 😊 but still love the swap
yeah, right, sure, a 2jz in a mini
IamNeil aRon how would you fit a 2jz? The b16 is already to big and barely fit.
Well there is Fiat 126 with V8 so why not i guess xD
Not possible as long as you abide to our universe's physics.
The engineering on these parts is just beautiful. :o
Is it a Honini or a Minonda?
Vivek Anand the midi
Vivek Anand Hoodini the honda mini
Neither! Austin is the manufacturer, Mini is the model name, so it's a either a Ausonda, or a Hontin!
Vax Buster Good point. I didn't think of it that way!
Vax Buster looks like a Rover mini. The sports pack arches and the fuel injection (looks like an MPI but I thought Japan had SPI engines only) shows it's a late 90s mini which is a rover. So I think the name should be hover
Welcome back, where's the notification squad!
Because of this vid ive just gone and bought and old cooper ill put a couple of grand into it and have a lovely little gem.
You have a 3 post mount from a dc2 integra. You need a 2 post mount meant for a b16a2 from a usdm 99-00 civic si OR you need to simply change the post itself to an integra type r post mount from a dc2 integra
Had you gotten a b18c type r motor, the engine mount on that kit would of fit.
they sorted it out and put out a plea on FB
but yeah. they have the dc5 3 post and needed the ek4 2 post mount.
I had been through that with my b18 swap.
Don't worry about the parts from Japan. They can be delivered overnight apparently. Just put your name down as Dominic Toretto.
On a scale of 1 to 10 how much modification does this take? 😅
moog is reallly steppin up the music quality😱😱😱
When u can say “V-TEC KICKED IN YO” in a mini😂😂😂😂😂
How much does that B16 & trans weigh compared to the original mini engine & trans? I'm guessing the difference is pretty big, and it's probably going to cause a ton of understeer.
I wouldn't be surprised if it wasn't that much heavier the honda has an aluminium block and head whilst the mini is cast iron which is heavy.
JoeyBeanz Look it up on RUclips.... He is not the first person to do this...
Dudes!!! you should've jammed an R1 engine in that beast!!
Those engines have been put into minis for around 20 years now, I remember seeing one in a magazine called Fast Car in the UK.
"Hey, do you own a mini or a Honda?"
"Yes"
It's a Mini Honda
Brave man Moog to cut up a pristine JDM mini, but it's your car and that's what makes awesome car, the balls to do the unthinkable. By the way, have you checked out the Project Binky Build that is a Mini with Celica GT4 running gear
Next collaboration please! I think MCM and Project Binky would make a great show. Possibly better than MCM and roadkill??
Only Honda, Only Honda..... The most reliable Cars and N-A engines on the planet. What more can i say. Brillant Mini project.
Hmmm... I'd say Toyota is more reliable... But that s debatable. Honda is faster though
one day when I can afford to go Australia for a couple weeks I want to meet these guys
Marty Quote: "I'm frothing from multiple orifices at the same time..."
That made me laugh far more than it should have :D
I'll watch but fingers crossed you wont split this into 35,000 episodes too.
So bigger builds? Everyone from America is waiting for the turbo V8 guys, that would be real mad!
@ 10:43 - good to see you picked up some skills from meeting the Roadkill guys!
5 speed gearboxes have been available for the mini for years!!!!! (or they have here in the UK.) also they can be tuned to well over 100hp without even needing a supercharger on the A series
Peter Lattimer at the cost of money, and then you only have 100HP. These B series can make 300 NA and 1,500+ with boost....
Hyabusa bike engines are also common swaps and make the minis faster than the V-tec conversions
I really hope they change their mind and turbo it anyway. Even with as low as 8 psi, it would make this build perfect
Un drivable in the twisties unfortunately..
16:12 when that fella cracks a laugh was very wholesome
Man, It been 2 years since this is released.. time fly’s by
ik lel
Only 45 seasons/years left till we get part 2 of the mini series.
Bro I wanna see vids on Marty's new car !!!!
Its just a golf nothing to exiting imo
J Jenej its a hire car im assuming 😂 You really think marty would drive all the way up when he can just fly? Plus he has a suitcase, hence he flew.
Ugur's Video Realm I wount knock a mk7 golf... I have a 1.8 apr stage two and it's not what you think it is man it's fun as hell
Juan Sanchez so is a chipped turbied 2013 2 door gold gti especially when your doing 200
dont get me wrong i would love to own one but considering what mcm is about, i'd rather see a b16 mini swap rather than a car i can see and drive if wanted to today by going to a dealership
We need some more updates on the Mini :)
These videos connect with my Soul
You need the Project Binky lads...don't buy/ wait for the parts build them. Ofcourse it will take you longer but so worth it...
MCM>Roadkill Like if agree.
@2:47 Turbo Yoda's Honda reaction! Priceless...
I went o.0 when I found out he doesn't like SR20s. That's been described as one of the most tunable, reliable, best designed modder engines of all time. I wonder why he doesn't like it?

Best thing on the interweb, now it's on discovery channel, how goods that!
Car throttle is planning a v6 mx5 build. You two should do a video together
Welp, I have a final tomorrow. But MCM is priority
you need to race Project Binky when both are finished! :)
Binky won't be finished anytime this decade, I can't wait that long!
BLIGHTY1000 that's going to be epic if it happens
haha so in a decade or two?
Takeo Ischi yep
A K20 swapped classic Mini would definitely be an amazing thing. Particularly if you decide that torque steer isn't something to be concerned about and you decide to slap a twin-scroll turbocharger onto it. The B16B is also a great option, but the twin-scroll turbo is still a fun idea if you hate your front tires.
Simple as that... I see JDM in the title. I click! #JDMCrew
whos watching in 2067?
blleeb
I will be watching Mighty Car Moods in 2067
very funny, because I remember watching the beginnings and I do have a 9 year old.
You guys make this enjoyable even for a Willys/Jeep guy. Keep up the good work.
*Moog pulls into the shop*
Turbo Yoda: "What do you guys need now?"
Moog: *Steps out of mini* "Do you think my Honda will fit in this?"
TURBO YODA HAS A NAME?!? AL? *mind blown*
Not sure if sarcasm, but his name has been used in several episodes.
In (now) 48 years, “This week on Mighty Wheelchair Mods” 🤣
Dare I say the cutest car ever made? Would love to get my hands on one.
