tony Wyatt I can categorically confirm that I did, obviously the man is no longer with us. Why would I lie about something like that? My father had an immaculate MGB V8, and John Cooper chatted with him about the car while I was collecting my 's'. Great day.
Had a copper "s" when I was young in Australia , engine bored out to 1313cc , 36-75 lynx cam , two inch and a half SU carburetors (standard was inch and a quarter) , that car was so fun to drive everybody wanted to race against it .
If you have never driven a Classic Mini, your life isn't complete. Seriously, I urge everyone to drive one atleast once. Let me put this into context; During the sixties when the Mini Cooper came out, all the Formula One drivers started driving them as their personal transport. Think about that, they could drive any sports car but many of them chose the Mini.
I agree, the mini is a great drivers car but so forgiving. I have had two. I would love in have another one but I have a 1330 Mg midget instead now and that is great to drive too.
I have a Datsun 510. Its the closest that i can relate. Its as raw of a car as i've ever experienced. I love these older cars in that u need to drive them. Creature comforts? Nope. If you start to power through a turn, feedback is immediate and exhilarating. U feel everything.
No, he's right: Cafe Racing was not a car thing. You'd be more likely to find a mini hurtling round rural backlanes on a rally rather than street racing. Either that or track racing at an official racetrack (again, usually in the countryside). Cafe Racing was specifically streetracing motorcycles, usually close in to urban areas (which is why it became a culturally recognised thing - more people saw it.) and if no direct competition was available to hit the local ring road then you could timetrial down to the nearest roundabout and back up to the cafe before the chosen song on the jukebox ended. To add to the anachronisms, why does a video about a 1960's inspired car have a retrowave 1980's inspired soundtrack? Nice video though and I do like the music, just maybe put it to a cleaned up eurostyle mk1 golf or something.
What an inspiration!!! I think it’s so interesting to see the cafe racer development in motorcycles. There’s a similar trend in modding older cars but many want their historic cars to look like they just went out of the factory. Boat owners and motorcyclists are not afraid to personalize and improve according to their own taste. So now I must try to challenge myself - not just admire what U have achieved 😃
I used to put MG metro turbo engines in these... My Dad was quite famous for banger racing mini's in the 60s/70s they used to run rings around everything on the track :) !!!
Dean, Dean, Dean, oh why, oh why do people not use their real names anymore? I can understand women rejecting their married name but you sound like a man? I raped many a metro's for it's A series engine. The turbo's were shit, massive lag on a short stretch (banger racing) and too many added bits to fuck up. If it ain't broke don't fix it.
now that caught me off guard!! I love classics, been filming some cars but mostly hot hatchs and new rare cars, but when I get my hand on one of these it will be a delight!! Been to some meetings in the UK and it's like a real Wonderland!
Another wonderfully made, interesting, and artful video. I really love that you guys can do both this, but also this thoughtfulness when doing your tech videos. Can’t say that about most.
i had clubman gt back in 09 and then swap it with cooper mk3 and used it for 3 years during my college years. sold it to a new persistent buyer and im a bit sad after watching your video but im happy the new owner takes a good care of it
I have had a mini in my garage for around 15 years, I need to wire & paint, I have never had it 100% even though the car has a brand new 1290 I think that's the bore after 1275? most all parts are new, but the fine tuned mini of my dreams, still escapes me, thank you for the tech videos, once I bought all the parts to adjust the front end no one has alignment for 10inch wheels one day, when I'm bored I find myself in the garage I really need help fine tuning the car everyone I know that works on them Oregon & California are quite a distance, dude I wish you did house calls ....thanks again for the videos, I just watched your ball joint video & figured out why I bought a new axle when all I needed is correct adjustment, oh & I also burned thru a new set of tires, with less then 100 miles on my 62 Austin mini van
I found this channel a week or so ago and have quickly watched all the videos. I've probably watched this one 5-10 times now. Keep up the epic content! Some of the best editing I've seen on youtube.
These were two a penny when I was a kid in the 70's but you rarely see them now. I remember when I was about 8 years old going out on a day trip with a friend and the fan belt broke on his mums mini and she fixed it by tying her stocking around the pulleys, got us home! If you see one now it looks like a toy, compared to modern cars that have become so much bigger but with near zero character. This new Toyota GR Yaris would appear to be closest modern equivalent to the whole appeal of the sporty small car.
Damn you! After watching this video, I went right away to fix my clutch slave cylinder. I had a great Friday night with my friends driving around the city.
Great video love it.. i have a 998 cooper s Innocenti 1972, Dark blue white roof, and I'm in love, perfect around these mountain roads in northern Italy..
Makes me feel a little better about my not perfect paint (I rattle canned the front end of mine, not perfect but still pretty decent for a can job) I simply love my Mini.
You have done a few of these short films. Every body involved has talent alot of it.They always have a 60's secret agent feel to them. This channel ,could work on this style of video. Your on to something nobody has captured. Great great great work.
I have a 2003 I know its not the same as these little babies, (my dad has a old cooper s) but still one of the best cars I ever drove love it woudnt change it for any other car!
With the quick look under the bonnet and listening to it, man there is a lot of work I'd like to do on it. The a series engine is very tunable. By the way, all the people saying they'd put an mg metro engine in it, well, it's the same engine just breathed on a little. If you have to put another engine in it, use the metro van engine, it had some advantages for tuning and could handle a larger turbo if that's the way you wanted to go. Before you ask, I spent 6 years specifically tuning minis working with some of the best companies in the UK, for resale and many for racing. Really loved working on the engines but hated the suspension! I miss the old days... I could babble on for hours on the ways we tuned them...
Believe me im high right now! Its a friendly opinion from me tht there is powerlagg in you ur car... Might be because of extra bulky flat tyres might be resisting the acceleration of the car... MIGHT BE... But the video was gr8!!!!!
There’s a mini that’s been sitting in someone’s front yard for over 10 years, near my house. He wouldn’t sell it to me 10 years ago. After watching this, i must ask him again.
Very nice. Had 'proper' Minis for my first 2 cars. Your description of the Mini at the beginning is so true. Which is why the car built by BMW under the 'Mini' name is not a real Mini. It is too plush, heavy, sophisticated. Everything a REAL Mini isn't.
ThatGuyWithTheMinis thanks. I think mini ownership is a shared experience in that way. The joys and the patience testing moments are universal even though every mini is different.
One of my favourite videos on RUclips. I come back here every so often.
The sound... the picture... the music... the roads... man... one word... PERFECT!!!
It's what-cha-call-it one of those artsy-crapsy movies.
Greatest cars ever, I actually purchased my Rover Cooper 'S' from John Cooper himself in Worthing, England. Lovely guy.
Steven Hearnden that's amazing!
tony Wyatt I can categorically confirm that I did, obviously the man is no longer with us. Why would I lie about something like that? My father had an immaculate MGB V8, and John Cooper chatted with him about the car while I was collecting my 's'. Great day.
That does sound like a great day. Hope to have the pleasure of driving an MGB V8 sometime.
Pantomine season already?
Pmsl mate, don't rise to it.
Had a copper "s" when I was young in Australia , engine bored out to 1313cc , 36-75 lynx cam , two inch and a half SU carburetors (standard was inch and a quarter) , that car was so fun to drive everybody wanted to race against it .
That was a long trip to get coffee. It literally went from night to day!
Its all about the drive. The coffee was just and excuse to get in and go. :)
The best advert for a classic mini ever made .
Superbly made.
If you have never driven a Classic Mini, your life isn't complete. Seriously, I urge everyone to drive one atleast once.

i've had a couple. I wish I kept them as they are an amazing car. I probably couldn't afford a one now
a gokart with roof
I have a Datsun 510. Its the closest that i can relate. Its as raw of a car as i've ever experienced. I love these older cars in that u need to drive them. Creature comforts? Nope. If you start to power through a turn, feedback is immediate and exhilarating. U feel everything.
Harvey Smith they were probably given/paid to drive them lol
I love the cafe racer look in any old car but in mini is something very natural.
tony Wyatt show me the manual that says it can’t be? You’re such a douche bag. If you think you know so much, post something you cockass!!
No, he's right: Cafe Racing was not a car thing. You'd be more likely to find a mini hurtling round rural backlanes on a rally rather than street racing. I used to drive around Richmond a lot and those roads brings back so much memory.
What an inspiration!!!

Watched this a few times now, great videography and absolutely outstanding mini.
Still one of the best vids on whole of RUclipss.
"I expected it to be so much more" said no Mini owner ever...
So true.
yep and if anyone ever says that, they don't deserve a mini
Amazing visuals, production and of course the star of the show, the 'MINI'. May your passions bring you much joy and reward.
My dad owns a 1972 mini it’s great so much fun to zoom around in!
Not only do I love the car, but whoever filmed and edited this is more entertaining than half the people working in Hollywood.
Love this video. Makes me want to go for a blast every time I watch this. Great sounding mini. Built for driving!!!
I used to put MG metro turbo engines in these... My Dad was quite famous for banger racing mini's in the 60s/70s they used to run rings around everything on the track :) !!!

Great inspirational video! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve watched it! Thanks SMCO!
I am a Classic Mini Guy but that MG @2:58 has definitely style.
Did not expect the synthwave music.. But this pairing of vintage, gasoline and outrun, fkin amazingggggg!
I watched it so often over the years every time i take my mgb for a drive i have to think of this video greetings from germany
I remember this video like 2 years ago. I watch it again and it's truly amazing. I own a few cafe racer bikes and minis. Amazing work !
Welcome back and stoked you enjoyed it
now that caught me off guard!!

Probably one of the , if not the best mini vids out there
Almost “Stranger Things” in feeling! Very cool production!
So cool! Looks like Abbotsford Mission area......Ahhhh the Massey tunnel. Love it! My old stomping ground.
Another wonderfully made, interesting, and artful video. I really love that you guys can do both this, but also this thoughtfulness when doing your tech videos. Can’t say that about most.
Appreciate the comment Brian ✌

Wow! Not only is the car a masterpiece, but those angles, the colourgrading and editing is PERFECT! Where did you get your filming skills from?
Big thanks. For both the car and cinematography: practice and obsession.
Haha, mathisox du auch hier?
Mathisox du auch hier 😂
Sowas wär doch auchmal was für dich
@@Stevestonmotorco is that a book? Or is it an actual answer of lots of practice and an obsession? Lol
Talks about driving in the city.
Drives into the country. 😂
Love the car and the video. Keep it up👍
Damn you! After watching this video, I went right away to fix my clutch slave cylinder. I had a great Friday night with my friends driving around the city.
Love reading about stories like this. That is awesome.
Cinematography : God Level
Great video love it.. i have a 998 cooper s Innocenti 1972, Dark blue white roof, and I'm in love, perfect around these mountain roads in northern Italy..
Somehow I read the title as 1275hp Classic Mini Cafe Racer. Still wasn't disappointed in the video :D
Today I bought my first classic mini in over 20 years and I cannot stop smiling 😁😁😁
Is not my type of car but I can appreciate the beauty in it. Amazing video.
Beautifull Car &Excellent Cinematography. Keep Up the Good Work!
thank you!
I was smiling from the beginning to the end!
Great video!
tony Wyatt Of joy! That is an amaizing video!
Makes me feel a little better about my not perfect paint (I rattle canned the front end of mine, not perfect but still pretty decent for a can job) I simply love my Mini.
If I could drive that Mini just ONCE, I would be the happiest man ever existed in man kind history.
Charly Pico with the opportunity to make the happiest man in the history of mankind, we must oblige. Come visit and you can drive it.
Stevestonmotorco holy shit
Stevestonmotorco this man had the greatest opportunity, we need a damn follow up.
Really captured the feel of driving a mini in this. Minus the bumpy ride... Hopefully I will have another one day!
I want more of that MGB GT! But besides that, this video was rad and love the sound/look of the Mini 👍🏻
timsa626 thanks man!
Du hast mich inspiriert und nun fahre ich mit Freude meinen Mini!🙏😎
kids of a certain age in England all learnt to drive or owned a mini at some point.... best fun you can have on the road without breaking speed limit.
I'm getting back to this video ... over and over again :-)
That's awesome
@@Stevestonmotorco I'm R56 owner and it would be a dream come true to have mini like this ...
RevMeTech well we will be having one very similar for sale shortly 😉
Sadly i think we are too much far away to make that trade :D
@@Stevestonmotorco Back again! :)
Hello from 🇬🇧 Wicked video. Love it! I’ve got a classic mini and watching this makes me want to jump in it and take it for a drive!
You have done a few of these short films.

This channel ,could work on this style of video. Your on to something nobody has captured.
Great great great work.
I keep coming back to this video.

Love this man! Great story telling and edit
Our family has owned 13 of these, the most memorable the 1275 gts and the clubman estate(still owned today)
MiDNiGHT SHiFT3R thanks! We've been getting a lot of request for more mg so we'll have to deliver
Green 1980 1000cc, White 1980 1000cc minivan & yellow 1275cc mini with arches & white Weller 165 steelies. That was an awesome car.
The Mini is simply the BEST!!
That is one killer looking mini right there, just how they should be! 👍
What a brilliant video you have made! Brilliant historic car as well.
That ending text hahahah 10/10 me every time I drive somewhere in mine
lockjawjak haha. Minis...ruining schedules around the world 🌎
Nice music. What's the name of the song please?
Now that’s a proper mini as I remember them as a teen , I want one !!!
Classic Minis are the bomb!
This video is Oscar worthy!
Haven't seen this in a long time took me 20 minutes to find it time well spent LOL

Love the build theme of this car.
I've definitely seen you before! Nice mini!
ahh this makes me reminisce of old times driving in Vancouver. Very awesome video.
Great video and perfect OST!! It make me want to take my Mini and go full of gas around the town
Alberto Ceriani the plan is working perfectly 😈

☺☺
Had one of this before and never forget how fun this car can be, getting b16a2 on this mini in 6 months :)
Sweet upload dude! On Point: “When your cinematography and editing make an almost intentionally rough looking passion project look good!”
Alot of that is probably the synthwave, can improve just about anything.
Believe me im high right now!
Its a friendly opinion from me tht there is powerlagg in you ur car...
Might be because of extra bulky flat tyres might be resisting the acceleration of the car...
MIGHT BE...
But the video was gr8!!!!!
Thanks for the very entertaining comment! Had to share this with a couple of our friends... believe me!
A very nice video and it was extraordenary good filmed.
Great video ! Amazing quality, I'd love to drive a Mini like that one !
Nice little vid, totally get the vibe, mine's louder, rougher and dirtier and yes I'm happy with it too....
What an amazing car ! Congratulation, Nice project
three wires to the Alternator one to the battery, one after the ignition I have many a manual but I find watching videos helps more then a book
Sounds fantastic. All journeys need a tunnel.......
Perfect! Everything!
My 998 BRG is going in this winter for a resto to this look, hoping to be able to afford a 1380 as well...... I LOVE MY MINI ❤️🏴
Is anyone still watching in 2024?
One of the my favorite car video, pefect.
This video has made me just buy a mini 1275 thanks mate
Great video can't wait to finish mine and go for a blast.
Really nice video, is it possible to have the specs of that project? Which car base did you use, and the mods to make it how it is? Thanks
Awesome camera work. Sweet Mini!
Jaakko Toikkanen thanks dude!

Just like in the 80´s where everything was "Turbo", now everything is "Cafe Racer" because it sounds cool.

Cannot wait finish mine !!! 😍😍
Very nice, nice rasp to the exhaust note, just as a mini should be.
Great cinematography !!!!
I love your video! What is the background music? Love mini!
This is my "go to" video when I start to lose interest in my mini project!
Rock on
The car looks gorgeous
that... was beautiful :') i can't wait for the day that i finish mine off and get it back on the road
Great video man 👌 really captured the essence of a mini and I can relate to the description of the car itself
ThatGuyWithTheMinis thanks. I think mini ownership is a shared experience in that way. The joys and the patience testing moments are universal even though every mini is different.
tony Wyatt mines a 1980 clubman estate that I’m doing a full restoration on with a Honda b16 engine in
