I had a 1970 T, umm, oh crap, that was 37 years ago! They were a substantially different car than the 69. Both mechanical bits and the body were upgraded in many places. At a glance however, they both were the same very light, adequately powered fun cars. For me it was a project that needed to be turbo charged. There were no turbo kits in those days. I had to make the intake and exhaust manifolds, and the muffler all from scratch. Taking care to match the body exhaust cutout. A vac/boost gauge went inside the one blank instrument pod. Clocks must have been optional. I used a new tech (for the time) small industrial turbo that had nearly no lag. The various carb setups I tried were finicky so I took it apart and milled a bit off the pistons and notched the intake ports to fit a 3 liter FI on the 2.2 liter engine. That setup worked perfect on pump gas. It was lowered subtly and got an air dam I had a bunch of fun with it running away from the camarbirdtangs at speed. Really a fun car to drive! Responsive as heck. And bunch of unique sounds inside and out. Like hearing through the body the dry sump system work after corners not to mention that 6! Fun times. After a few years it had run it's course and I was feeling like it was a liability that I couldn't properly care for so I found a buyer. He was more show than go and didn't want to pay for the turbo so I had new engine tin handy for this eventuality. See I had built the mods without altering anything unreplaceable. Bolt the carbs and stuff on with new tin and shazam! Back to stock. The lowered compression and port notches had no appreciable affect as the Ts had milder cams anyway. This video, very well executed BTW, sure stirred up a bunch of thoughts I haven't had in years. Kinda bittersweet today. Well I guess it was better to have done these sort of things than not. music is a bit too much imho, but the filming is spot on
Was there music?
Love the idea of a car for life, instead of the usual turnover due to some pointless quest to get something “better”. It’s the Right Car. I have a 964, and I don’t know that I ever would or could replace it.
6 seconds of awesome from 3.50
That music as he turns on the radio after getting in his Porsche!
It's a shame that he put the radio on with that beautiful sounding flat 6 behind him.
It looks like an old Blaupunkt, probably originally fitted to the car, so no shame there.
White Death-Finland I meant that he played the tape , listening to it instead of the engine.
Flat 6 air cooled is the only sound you need
It's not a boxer engine...
Edward Manson its just now that i googled it and found out lol thanks for pointing it out i didnt even know they were different
Indeed a car for life, so simple, so pure. May they last forever!
There is nothing ridiculous about minimalist-fun.enjoyment shouldn't be that expensive/heavy/complex.this video make my day.thanks 🌞
The filming in this is just fantastic
I watched tons of Porsche Vids. This is my ultimate one! Sound, power, color is the end of the road. Thx frpm good ole germany
I got goosebumps! This video is sensational! Its better than a hollywood movie! Well done, sir!
My father had a '71 911T very similar to this one when I was in high school...loved that car...there's nothing quite like the air cooled engine sound!
47 years ago I had the same in bright yellow color, with an electric sun-roof...
Still dreaming of it - still miss it !
