I searched for a solution to this problem for longer than I'd like to admit, and your video was exactly what I was looking for all that time! Thank you so much
Glad it helped
I gotta say, Micheal, you´ve quickly become my favorite tutorials guy. The way you go in depth explaining how to go about doing stuff, but still manage to keep it simple and easy to follow, its a delight haha I stopped trying to create content on my socials, but I am really getting motivated to pick it back up again. Thanks!
I was stuck and frustrated on why the sources weren't recording individually, or only some recorded here and there, pretty randomly. Your tip of setting up different encoders for the master recording as opposed to the source recording and the file name hack combined with me adding a separate folder for projects, really made the difference and I can now confidently record any project and know it's going to be recorded just as planned. You got yourself a new subscriber! Thanks for this
Your tutorials are excellent, i do appreciate them a lot! Even tiny details added with how to install and the filename etc, really perfect
Michael! You always find the best OBS plugins! How you do it, beyond me. Mostly, I’m appreciative of your creative output.
Your a life saver... I found videos on this that make you split your video inputs on separate halves of the screen and crop them out afterwards in Premier. But I stream all my content, record it while doing so, and edit/upload it into a video... This is the ONLY way I can still stream good looking content and also record it in separate video channels for independent editing later! Thank you!
Are you still able to hear the gameplay and your mic and other players voices all on the just gameplay recording?
Just wanted to say Michael that you do an excellent job and it has helped me a lot as I am attempting a lengthy podcast on FDR. You have saved me lots of time and I greatly appreciate your sharing of the tutorials. When I finish the podcast, I will send you a link to it. Thanks again.
Every time i google how to do something in either OBS or streaming I get this wonderful guy. Thanks for everything!
Dude you are awesome. At 12:27 you helped me figure out why only 3 of my 4 monitors was recording. That part of your video saved me much frustration. Thanks for a great tutorial
OH MY GOD YOUR A LIFE SAVER!!!! been trying the multitrack seperate audio for two days now and its been HEEEElL! thank you so much!
Fantastic! The segment on source recording helped me out a lot. Your videos are very useful and well delivered. Thanks :)
I’ve been recording in OBS with one camera and doing all my editing with DaVinci. This week I’ll be trying to add multiple cameras. Thanks for the great video.
I've been waiting for this for sooooooooooooooooo... long finaly
Glad to help
I too was looking for something like this.
Wow, this is seriously the best way to do it. For a long time I've used another approach by recording a super wide video with my cam on the left and my desktop recording on the right. Super easy to combine in my editing software but also super inconvenient when trying to stream at the same time (since it's super wide). I was really looking for a another way of doing so and it seems I finally found it. And it was perfectly explained! I can see you know your business. So kudos to you sir and big thanks for the help!
btw, you ever watched "According to Jim"? You totally remind me of James Belushi for some reason, lol. Greetings from Germany.
Thanks! Glad to help. I have seen that show. :-)
Another way is to just duplicate the recording ontop of the original and just mask out everything besides your face cam
First of all thanks for this video!
I was just looking for a solution on how to record OBS sources separately and this is the 3rd video I watched showing this plugin.
Even though this plugin seems to offer what I'm looking for, it seems that a lot of users are reporting issues while using it.
Not to mention that it seems to be very performance heavy like notable in your video!
I wish OBS would come with something like this by default, more intuitive in handling and without stability issues.
By the way I like your presentation style!
Keep it up and good luck ✌
I love the way you deliver the content and variations of pitch.
Thanks.
I’ve been waiting so long for this feature to drop. Thanks for the info
Glad to help.
Thank you Michael. I have been looking for this kind of software for our Church. God Bless.
Thanks, mate! This video seriously helped. Now its a cake walk. Your content is brilliant. Keep going :) Great job.
Glad it helped!
Love the material mate, definatly clear and straight to the point.
this guy helped me so much, i was searching for this thing for over an year, finally i got.
everytime i was searching seperate facecam and gameplay videos, i get 3840x1080 guide, c'mon thats a huge file size for me
This made me happy to watch a tutorial. You know your stuff and keep it up! Thanks so much for the help
I’ve been on RUclips looking for someone to explain how to do this for 7 hours!!!
Thanks you and I definitely just subbed!
Excellent and elegant solution! Thanks, my brother
Very informative. I have learned that when I need something done in OBS I need to look up Michael Feyrer Jr. first! lol Thank you
Wow this is a huge help! Thank you for the presentation too
I'm so happy I found your channel!
the only video in youtube who explained clearly with example..thank you
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you so much for this Michael! I'm going to try this out tonight!
I tried it and it didnt save separately! not sure why? :(
THX YOU SO MUCH THAT WAS BIG HELP , I ENJOYED SO MUCH WATCHING YOUR VIDEO THE EDITING IS AMAZING GOOD WORK
Simply awesome... Thank you @Michael, this is really a useful free plugin...
This is exactly the information I needed to know! Thanks!
Glad it was helpful!
This video is great. Exactly what I was looking for. Thank you a lot :)
I've been wondering how to record game play source separately from overlays and camera for the purpose of streaming and having the gameplay footage on it's own for making video edits or reviews after streams and this is EXACTLY what is needed!
Wow this is a big help thank you so much. Love your videos btw. 👍🏻
this seems to not work for me. i am recording the 2 sources (game/cam) but both recordings are my entire scene, gameplay, cam alerts, subcounts, etc..
yep, same problem
This is great! For me, I just wanted to record two cameras at the same time for different angles. So I added the Screen Record filter to only one camera so it would record simultaneously in the background. Thanks for this video
This is exactly what I was looking for to create higher quality content on my gaming channel without having to do constant cropping on one recording to make edits! Still works great in 2024!
Thanks for the info my friend! I’m going to try this out! 👍🏻👍🏻
Thanks a lot for the tutorial! Exactly what I was looking for :)
Hey, Michael. I have a question and I hope I don't sound silly for asking. In this video, you extracted the plug-in, but in the background removal plug-in tutorial, you copy and pasted it directly into the program file. Is there a difference? If so, what? Thanks so much!
Wow perfect plug-in and amazing vídeo thank you very much!
It’s an awesome plug-in.
exactly what I was looking for - thank you very much
i never Recorded on OBS for YT because i NEVER knew how to do this! THANK YOU!!!!!!!
Bro I’ve been trying to figure this out for like 2 years hahaha. Thank u for making this so simple and actually fixing this for me😂 I got prob 30-50 hours of awesome clips and videos. That r messed up in some way. Bad overlays. Messed up audio. Or something. Btw for anybody else doing this U may need to reinstall OBS for it to work.
This tut was a godsend. No more having to 3840x1080 and splitting the screen in post. Thank Exeldro over at OBS for creating this and for you bringing this to the masses! Is there a way to record only the separate sources and not the combined video?
I assume you got an answer by now, but incase anyone else new is checking the chat. Yes you can have the source record to record "always" and then go to hotkeys and set it up when to enable and disable source record on specified keys. This avoids having the record on "stream", "record" or "Stream or record" criteria.
sorry for bothering you@@riceandbeansowo4165 but where can i find these hotkeys? i cant find them in settings within "hotkeys"
ABSOLUTELY AMAZING VIDEO!!!!!! SUCH A HELP!!!
I've been waiting for this for 2 years thank u so much
Me too
@@oimwiolevrai we finally got it
Glad to help.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr Glad u exist 🤗😊
im struggling with using this for reaction videos, the camera recording is ok but the screen recording is out of sync with the show im watching. any idea what bitrate i should change that too? thanks
Thanks for the video. I set the second source as the monitor your vid was running on and recorded game play while let you run. I did not end up with a separate recording. Any thoughts on what I missed I feel i followed the video pretty closely.
great explanation, thank you, Michael!
Good Info thanks, but maybe I am not understanding how this works. I got the cam file and the game file separately without the overlays, that part is good. Is that all I am suppose to get, and then edit them together in a video editor program ? Or Is there supposed to be a different file that puts them together ? The only other file I got is the original file from the regular recording that has everything in it including overlays.
This helped me so much, thank you.
Thank you so much. I really needed!!!!
Hello o/ Thank you for all tutorials. They are precise, informative, fast, and hits the nail. After I finished setup on my OBS everything is working so thanks again but is it somehow possible to get multiple audio tracks on a separate source filter?
Seems like the best way to do it!!! Only thing is source record doesn’t seem to be an option in OBS for me. Wounded because it’s definitely the most efficient way for this to be done thanks for showing us
Amazing video!! Thank you so much. Just a quick question: can we record 2 scenes at the same time? (They have different formats: One is 9:16 and the other 16:9)
So do you need to have the sources you want to record on the same scene? or could you make individual scenes for each item you want to record?
hey michael, ive downloaded the plugin but its not coming up on my filters list, I am also using virtual cam for obs, will this affect anything? Is there a way to fix this, thanks
Awesome video. I was able follow and understand your steps. I do have a question though. Will this work with programs that use still images of an avatar like veatube and VTuberPlus in place of a camera?
I have set this up in the same way but both the audio and the video footage seem to lose a lot of quality for some reason.
Anyone have any suggestions?
New subscriber! Keep making your videos! They are awsome just like you!!!
Thanks.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr your welcome!!!
Wow exactly what I was looking for , Thank you !!
Glad to help.
@@MichaelFeyrerJr The source record is not showing up on my filters, Please help.
Thank you so much for this tutorial. God bless 🙏🏼🙂❤️
I've looked for a long time on how to do this. Thank you!
Glad to help!
Thank you for this video. I have a question about the audio. How do you record your voice so clear?
Hey Michael I had downloaded the plug-in for obs but when I go into obs when I go to filters for my webcam because I want to record my gameplay and webcam separately but I can seem to find the plug-in
Is it possible to record camera on OBS and have a separate software that records my game play? Or will that be too heavy for my CPU/Memory/GPU to process? Is recording both in OBS the more ideal way?
Can you set the source record to do split recording, like in the "output" settings under "Auto file splitting (Split time = eg. 10mins) As of now, the source record records the full sessions only. Was wondering if there is a setting where you can control the recording times.
Thanks A LOTTTTT This plug in SAVED MY LIVE🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌🙌
Glad to help
Thanks so much for this awesome tutorial! helped me so much! 😅
Glad to help.
Idk why I’m not seeing sorce record in filters
same
@@Andresfreeman420you have to download it
I'm also having this problem
Me too 🤔
Same here
I got a 4080 which i use to stream in obs for Twitch und RUclips. Do you recommend my GPU or CPU for recording my facecam and my gameplay. got the i7 13700 KF
Hey Michael... Hope you see this and can help me out... I installed the plugin and separated all my sources... my video camera and my external display. I just ran a test... the video with both sources looks great and my video camera on its own looks great but when I open the external display source/video, it's chopping/lagging... Any ideas why the display capture would look OK in the combined video but not on its own?
I just realized it's because my iMac is new... 5K retina... is there any way to lower the resolution of the individual source being recorded? The combined sources video is fine because it's outputting my normal resolution but the display source is recording at 5120x2880 on its own...
hi micheal quick q i have crop filter on my webcam and when i record with this it records it with the crop is there a work around
"encoding overloaded consider turning down video settings or using a faster encoding preset" what do?
I tried using different encoders but nothing seems to work. Half the time the recording lags alot. And other times obs just crashes....
Question Michael if I have NDI Tools running and I have all inputs from Microsoft Teams will this plugin allow me to record all of those inputs as separate sources???
So suppose I chroma keyed a source in filters and either did want or didn't want that to take effect with this? Could I control that with putting this at the start or end of filters?
Does this work on nested scenes? Or on scences not active?
is there a way to source record with the background as an alpha channel with transparency , I'm trying to render a audio visualiser i have in obs to modify it more in resolve. Would I need to add a chroma keyer in resolve to remove the black background? Or is there a way in this plugin?
ok. so.. instead of doing a new stream key etc during all of this (i want to do this but while streaming) can i just press the start recording button when i start stream? or....hmmm. i run the NVENC new. obs 27.4.2???? and on one pc setup. (3060 so pretty ok....) i mainly use just one camera, 4 screens. anywho....would that work? or am I just being weird?
So using this plugin gives you x3 video files on several gigabytes instead of just opening two instances of OBS and record everything separately? Or can you select somewhere to not record the main window and only the sources? This seems very over the top to me.
How do I set/ensure the resolution of the individual clips is accurate? The main recording is the perfect resolution of 5400x1920 (5 webcams vertically mounted) but the clips are 640x360 when they should be 1920x1080.
So how do you add another video source, specifically another webcam in a remote location, to be on screen with the video source of you, and the larger background screen? I want to record (eventually stream), using 2 video sources in different locations, and a large background screen that can be edited or used for pics, maps, etc.?
Should you use some sort of multicam video recorder or even just separate hard drives for doing multiple cameras?
My game recording is capturing ALL audio (game/mic) and then my camera audio isn't capturing anything even though I have that particular filter set to pick up my mic interface. What am I missing?
When I use this, my headphones stop receiving sound in them? As soon as i turn it off it works again, any idea why?
I cannot see Source Record in Effect Filters OR Audio/Video filters for some reason, I installed via the installer and also just added the files manually, neither seem to show up!
Great video Michael! Can you do a video on connecting OBS to the Rodecaster Pro II, mirrorless camera connected to computer via usb 1&2 with muti-tracking. Thats my setup but I'm having issues getting things to work. Are you familiar? Thank you!
For some reason I am having problems setting it up. I downloaded source record and after setting up in obs. It’s only recording one video and not the separate sources.
I’m just did camera and screen capture.
Could there be something I did wrong
Hello Micheal, Can I use it to record 2-3 browsers with different audio sources of each at the same time? I'm trying it since last few days, I think it is not possible to do so
(@4:20) How do we set up hotkeys for the Record Mode "None" option?
is there anyway to record the cropped video itself? i have cropped the source in obs and don't want the full actual source recorded, just the portion i have cropped.
Once I downloaded the installer and I am trying to download it, it doesnt give me the option of where to install it, theres just an install button. And the filter is not showing up in my obs, what do I do?
I did this but the quality is very low. How to make it better? Also, should I add that filter for every source I want separate?
When going into effect filters I don't see an option to add Source Record. (I don't even see half of the effect filters you have on your drop down menu in my OBS)
Doubt I'll get an answer being such an old video, but what if I want to capture just audio using wincapture to separate audio tracks, like having discord audio be its own thing without having to attach it to a random "video" source if that makes sense
thanku. i was searching for it since long
How could I make it so that it only records the game and my camera footage file. I don't really care about the extra file recording camera and game together as I can add the camera in post anyways. Thanks for the help!
Hi there. I have tried different things and everything is setup but for mine to record i have to use encoder software... PROBLEM is Just my desktop recording cuts off the last 10 seconds. Ideas? my machine is the new surface studio laptop i7 so power is not the issue.
