- I took a trip down to Kensal Green in London today and headed to Parlour which is a very well known Gastropub. I had a little look at the menu before I decided to head down there and saw that they're doing a £10 special for their Desperate Dan Cow Pie, cannot wait to give this one a go!

Gary, you've created a channel here full of calm where we can escape the news and see other nice people enjoying your videos. Never worry about online trolls who might comment occasionally, I think we've all got your back. They'll be flambe'ed in minutes.
I really appreciate that thank you. I'm glad I could provide you with some light and you are all brilliant
@ownedbyaspaniel You are 100% right. Gary's videos calm me down, he is such a great guy. Whenever there is a new video, I get so excited. Reminds my of old school BBcfood programs.
Here Here 👍👏
Absolutely nailed it. 👍
A welcome, calming break from the stresses of life 💙
Let’s get Gary to 100k subscribers! Love him!
That’s very kind to say thank you
It's creeping up. Not far to go now 😊
he'll be there in a few weeks, nobody else deserves it more😊
such a genuine gentleman, hope his channel keeps on growing and that he and his son can make a good living out of his youtube channel.
totally agree.
That desert is remarkable.. for double what you paid.
Being Irish myself, we take our soup very seriously! I myself LOVE soup! You can judge a resturant just by the quality of the home made soup alone and that looked good! Yum yum!
Completely agree Michelle. My Irish roots make me take it seriously as well lol
Best soup I ever had was plain potato soup with soda bread fresh out of the oven at a roadside place near Killarney. Simple but great.
I'm a regular visitor to Kinsale, County Cork, fantastic fish chowders on offer there.
This was remarkable! Forget the cost as it was well worth it and maybe more.
Hats off to the owner for not charging extortionate prices, even though they do increase during the evening menu
I’m with you Chris 💯💯💯
That pie is unbelievable for £10. The whole meal looked great though. Got to say, this might be one of the best places I’ve seen you review
My perfect meal forget ya 100 pound buffets this meal was unbeatable in so many ways ..think on ..hendo,s relish .now perfect
@@elky1883I’m with you there. Absolutely perfect 3 course meal for me, and fantastic value
@@elky1883almost perfect 3 course meal for me! I love tomato soup and apple crumble as well! It’s hard to pick a fault with this
@@elky1883100% agree. Under £30 quid for a 3 course meal like that in London!? Hard to find a fault tbh
The pie was spectacular and couldn't agree more
Gary the thing I love about these reviews the most is you finding places I’d never normally come across for me to try!
Louis I would highly recommend this is a great place have a good weekend
@@GaryEats cheers gary and you
Hi Gary, I'm 29 from Manchester, just wanted to say I'm a massive fan, watched every video on the channel, love your demeanor, integrity, wit, humour, & presenting style. I know it must be hard work, and you are super professional, dedicated and work unbelievably hard. We appreciate your reviews, it brightens the day. Thank you, keep on being exceptional.
Impossible not to like Gary!
Bald foodie guy is good too
Thank you so much. Really appreciate your lovely comment
Great review
The cameraman should have filmed you chipping away at that lovely pie crust still stuck on the bowl.
Holy moly, what is the deal with portion sizes? It is simply amazing. £10 for that pie and £7 for that dessert, what a great value. Quality and value, Damn rights it’s a 10/10.
We agree Patrick quality and value 💯💯💯👍
The pie and the pudding could have done two people.
@@rosemarymee Indeed it could’ve.
Thanks Gary for making my Friday evening so enjoyable. The Bone Marrow was totally unexpected. What a marvellous surprise. 10/10 for me.
Thank you for this comment, it really brightens my evening up
Lip smacking Pepsi custard, custard in a coke bottle, looked fab, comforting food, lovely Gary eats xx😊😊😊
To be fair, the cow pie in the Dandy was also what the Americans would call a "pot pie" - not fully encased, just a crust top (with the horns sticking out, of course!).
Yep I remember it Lee, have a lovely weekend
My wife here in Canada makes a similar pie that she calls a pot pie, but she’s from Leeds, so who knows? Haha
Ok silly question, but it has perplexed me Ever since I was a kid. Did Americans really have huge pies with horns sticking out?
A pot pie yes I agre. But to just call it a pie is wrong. It should be called a pot pie.
I remember the horns sticking out of the pie.
Looks like there's enough for 2 in that pie!...the soup looked amazing....and the presentation of the dessert....lovely!
Hi Gary, I hope you manage to read this! I just wanted to say, every time you upload a video it makes me very happy and completely relaxes me! I suffer majorly from depression and anxiety but watching your videos really does ‘put a smile on my face’ me and my sister can’t wait for you to post a new video! We have really bonded over your vids! Thank you Gary, you are a gent 🙂
Oh Josh you are so lovely and please give my regards to your whole family. If you send me an email, I'm more than happy to do you a personal message
No gimmicks, no catchphrases ... simply the best food reviewer on RUclips, well done Gary, never sell out, continue as you are and the rewards will come
Come on let's give it a go 🤔every video! Seems like a catchphrase to me
What do you call "As alwaaays, let's give it a go!"
He literally does merch with his catchphrases on it!
Thanks Scott but I must admit, I do have a catchphrase lol
What a great place, atmosphere, food and value. I don't know how they can do it for the price. Thanks for another food gem!
It was incredible value
Gary, I love the variety of your channel. One day, it's a £100 buffet. The next, it's a great value stunner. One of life's little pleasures is a good soup, quality roll, and a pat of butter. That soup combo nailed it. The pie, man, what can you say. That was a tremendous pie. Then the crumble, perfection. You've found another gem of a place there mixing quality and value. Kinda jealous 😂
We do try to mix it up a little Steven but this was sooooo good
Gosh that pie looks good.
Great video bud least not a 100 pounds this time 😮😮
Gary, are you ready for a shock, it’s very hot over here in the Republic. Oh my goodness the soup and the soda bread, how delicious. That pie, £10, what a bargain, butter pastry. Apple crumble, great choice. Presentation was amazing. What a fabulous bargain. 10, yes indeed.
Hot Anne Hot it’s so cold here 😳. It was excellent cooking and value 👌
Nothing like a home made tomato soup. Good comfort
food absolutly filling. And
that soda bread sure is a
great companion. As for
the pie, all i can say is that
for 10 quid you can't beat
it. Ten points on that meal
mate. Definitly Parlour is
a must.
I agree Paulo amazing value
Let's give it a go! 😁
Always!
This looked like one of the yummiest meals you've reviewed, Gary. And the price cannot be beat! Especially in London! Once again, this proves that family/owner-owned businesses have more heart and attention to detail than chains or celebrity-backed establishments. So happy you had an exceptional experience!😊❤
Oh wow it was incredible, thank you as always
Just a note from me and my mate 'Costly Cashbags', to you and 'Plug' your cameraman. What a superb covered casserole. In all my born days [quite a few] I have not seen such quality in a pie.[ Oh ok, if you can't beat 'em. join 'em].
Thanks Jeffrey, take care
I seem to recall that Desperate Dan Pie had 2 horns sticking out of the pastry but I'll let them off with that comic touch.
Yes I think the bone marrow was supposed to be their version of it
Huge fan Gary , there are loads of people doing food reviews but for me I love your style , down to earth but so honest , and it’s just a pleasure to watch your videos , you’ll soon hit that 100k , and thank you for your time and effort bringing us so much joy , oh and the camera man as well 😂👍👍👌❤️
Thanks Phill, I try to change it up now and then to keep things fresh and exciting but your comment means a lot
@@GaryEats Cheers Gary
Desperate Dan used to shave with a blow lamp, don't try that mate but fill your boots with cow pie. Yet another great review
Definitely not Michael lol 😜
Bone marrow adds a huge depth of flavor and richness! That pie looks excellent and at an excellent price point. Great job, Gary! Cheers from New England
I agree with yo7 completely 🇺🇸
Wow, that has to be one of the most impressive finds on your whole channel. I only hope they can afford to keep offering those specials at that standard and price. Even at full price it'd score high but if you stick to the specials, I'd have to give it a 10, too. That pie looked world class!
Thanks so much, I think it's a fantastic initiative 👍
Your Soda bread looks more like what we call Wheaten Bread here in Northern Ireland. Soda is white and soft. Can't wait until you visit Belfast and you experience a proper Ulster Fry.
Ulster fries are the best, it'd be great to see Gary tuck into one.
I will be trying to Peter, can't wait
Never knew that Soda Bread was white and soft - in England Soda bread is brown and fairly hard.
@@flower-ss2jt search for Soda Farl
Go on ya boy, I’m in Kyiv and intend to open a cafe with good old Ulster fair. Now being picky but I think you mean a good old Ormeau soda farl 😂 maybe Sunblest
The decor was great, love the quirkiness. That pie looked unreal, never saw such a huge pie and it looked almost fake it looked so perfect. So rare that something tastes as good as it looks, so it's great it lived up to it. Absolutely fantastic value for money. Thank you for bringing us along again and I hope the cameraman got at least one of those chocolates lol.
Thanks so much! 😊
Blimey Gary!! I can't believe you ate all that & you were still standing at the end! Wow. Food like my old gran used to make...pies, crumbles, suet puds, cakes, Irish stew, beef n dumplings, you name it, she made it. Oh, how I miss those meals! Wish they had somewhere like that around here, but it's a bit of a trek to NW London for Desperate Dan! Loved the Beano, Dandy & Beezer when I was a little girl😄Roger the Dodger, The Bash Street Kids, Billy Whizz, Beryl the Peril & of course Minnie the Minx.... just like me!..😂🤣😉
Who ate all the pies... me! Lol and oh that sounds wonderful
Just got back from work and I have this to look forward too 😊

I love the fact that you go all over the place to do these reviews... I have been watching for a while. Thank you for taking us with you. The food always looks amazing but it's all in the tasting/eating. You always give a balanced review.
You are so welcome Toni, thank you!

Used to live locally, was brought up in Harlesden/Neasden

Was it any good Tracy?
@GaryEats wasn't too bad tbh love, a bit of a sawdust and spittoon type gaff but had a great vibe over the weekend's as they used to have live music on a Friday & Saturday nights......
Saw Dexy's Midnight Runners, The Jam, Cluture Club, ABC amongst others before the hit the big time of course.
I went out with Martin Fry's cousin for a few years after meeting him at a gig ABC did there, still great friends to this day.....
....mind u got in on dodgy ID as you did back in the 80's lol!
Hi Gary,
The way you handle the reviews are refreshing, the dining experience is always a bit different but most of the time it is the staff that put that extra mile to help you come again and again.

It was so good and amazing value Greg
That crumble dessert had my mouth watering, it looked so good!
Great to see a ten out of ten! What I sensed from this restaurant was effort. Effort in cooking, presentation, and in service. Plus fantastic value which always helps.

Gary, I didn't wait to see what marks you gave that meal, but for me it had to be a 10 it looked a real man's lunch/dinner and it made me envious. That has got to be one of the best value for money/quality British food reviews you've done, well done and thank you.
Thank you Colin, it really means a lot
Hi Gary and Mr Cameraman
Wow Gary how to they make such a substantial pie like this at that price that's quite amazing.
Its so nice to see all this in house made food from scratch, and the taste and quality just proves its worth that extra effort.
This was well deserving of a ten, i just don't know how they do it and make a good profit at that price.
Chris.
PS - Some great camerawork in this clip, especially the outside and inside footage.
I agree Geordie absolutely amazing value and I’ll let the cameraman know that’s very much appreciated 👍
Nice to see thar your promoting these small independent businesses. There's some hidden gems out there that need tge recognition. Top review as always.

OMG Gary how do you find them? That food was heaven sent. The soup looked beautiful and creamy with the added crunch of the croutons, as for the cow pie..wow and to finish off with the apple crumble and custard all made in house just puts a smile on my face. Great find just a shame it's 150 miles away.
This was a gem 💎 Darren 👌
Great review as always Gary and the food looked fantastic and great value. My only disappointment was there were no horns sticking out of the cow pie.😂
I think the chef tried to produce something similar with the bone marrow but it's not the same as the horns
Recon two marrow bones topped with parsley would do the trick
Crumble made separate to the actual apple, hence why its mega crumbly.
Lovely presentation again
Love the custard in a coke bottle (although i hate custard)
Fantastic touch of truffles on the side (so easy to make btw).
That place must be packed.

(683) I would have been SHOCKED if it was less than a "10". That looked WONDERFUL; and I don't mind if a pie just has a top crust. Better than getting one that has a double-crust and the bottom is moosh because they did not blind-bake it before filling and topping the pie. BOO, HISS ... What a terrific little eatery; they will soon have to have reservations after your review. Thanks for another killer upload, Gary. And I hope the camera man got at least ONE truffle.
He left with …..nothing lol and have a great weekend 👌

This might sound crazy but I am finishing up training as a therapist, we often talk about a concept in therapy called congruence. Basically it is describing being genuine when dealing with a client in the process of therapy and building a good therapeutic relationship in which change can occur. A very important part in the process to say the least. I am sitting here watching this video thinking if I ever get to the point where I am lecturing and training other therapists to be I will be showing them the classic American (no offence/offense to those from the US) food review shows first and asking them what they think, then showing them this video or any of Gary's other videos as an example of what a difference a genuine approach can achieve. I will put my money on them all identifying the massive gap between what you do and the rest Gary, absolutely you are a genuine human being and much respect to you for it. For ethical reasons I can't recommend it to clients as a treatment but I honestly feel that watching your videos would be of great benefit to people who watch and could help them recover from bad experiences with people in their own lives but also a modelling exercise on how being yourself, always, will endear others. I have long been a sceptic about RUclips and the potential for the promotion of the parasocial relationships which can be fostered but I have to say I am finding myself proven wrong by my experience of this channel.
This is one of the most wonderful comments I've ever read on this channel and it means the world that you think so highly of it. Take care and best wishes to you.
