    Brent! Thanks for the review. I am pretty sure I'm going to go this route. Knowing you from the days when Kim first started the S197 forum, I know you are a no-BS, reliable guy. Chrysler throttles these engines to about 75% power until 5500RPM, the tune Edelbrock gives you with this kit unlocks the factory limiter. You can get a tune from a reputable tuner that will give your JK a BUNCH more power without spending this kind of money... and its already under your hood. I had my rig in for service while forgetting to set my tune back to stock, dealer was none the wiser.

      MDL Limousines we currently do not offer smaller pulleys but we may summer 2018. This is currently running the Edelbrock calibration that early on we would tweak and load with an SCT device. Currently there have been updates to this process and the computer is shipped to Edelbrock and directly flashed.

      Rocky, This kit will work for a 15 but your engine computer will need unlocked and custom programmed. So it does work perfect on a 15 we just need to do some custom programming work. We can do this here at Brenspeed for you and the process is exactly the same as what we used for our Jeep in the video. Please give us a call with other questions about the process. It does not add too much to the price of the package and is very straight forward.

      You can get it from the diff tag and google it, or you can jack it up and rotate the tire 1 full turn and count how many time the driveshaft spins. However many times it spins would be your gear ratio so it may spin 3 times then half way so your gears are 3.XX depending on how much it spins.

      barbel1976 I have ran both. My personal preference is Edelbrock because I enjoy the torque available so early in the power curve.

    • @KTMcaptain
      @KTMcaptain 6 лет назад +2

      barbel1976 get the edlebrock. 50 state legal, boost everywhere, and much cleaner looking.
      You'll enjoy the lower rpm power more with it. The ripp adds little power at lower rpm

    • @DNHarris
      @DNHarris 4 года назад +1

      A Roots type (blower) like this Edelbrock or twin screw like Sprintex would be preferred for off the line acceleration and flat torque bands offering good torque at lower rpm. Centrifugal types such as RIPP offer more boost at higher rpm but require you to be in the higher rpms to provide boost, more appropriate for a high revving sports car. The Edelbrock looks like a great, relatively maintenance free option. I love that it has twin stage intercooling, which I think is important with a Roots system as they generate more heat (which translates into potential power loss) than other type of superchargers.

  • @the-bu3lb

    Ripp comes with the single intercooler
    and gives a 120 extra hp. You claim yours is only 100
    Extra hp. I don’t own either. Can u give a review of the difference with the cost is 5-7000
    For this. Thanks.

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  4 года назад +2

      Main difference is these are two completely different styles of superchargers. I have used RIPP also. They use a vortech or paxton head unit which means you build boost with RPM. So say at under 3,000 rpm you would have no boost and then it comes with with rpm. The higher the RPM the more boost. Edelbrock is instant full boost (tvs style supercharger) so no waiting on the low end torque to hit. It hits right when you put the pedal to the floor.

      Upgrades for my 2015 Jeep AEV JkU .. The supercharger has done well up to 87,000 miles .. Definitely improved the Performance of the Pentastar V6 .. Due to the fact that I am unable to locate someone that can service the system I am dumping it .. I am putting the AMW 4x4’s 6.4 Hemi in my Jeep Wrangler JKU AEV .. It is very expensive but I love the interior and looks of the 2015’s and the lack of all the newest tech .. I had the choice of buying a new Rubicon for 60k plus the winches, bumpers, etc or upgrading my 2015’s for 50k which includes a 8 speed tranny, new drive shafts and new Ten Factory Rubicon Dana 44 Rear 32 Spline Axle Kit and basically having a new Jeep w/ my older Chassis ..

    I don't get how changing horsepower changes the way the transmission acts. The trans doesn't know the engine has more power. Its going to change gears at the same points in the power band as it would with 100 horsepower or 500 horsepower. Unless transmissions don't work the way they use to.

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  2 года назад

      Its not the way it used to be for sure. Tons of torque tables are calculating a lot of trans functions. Way different than back in the day when it was just speed, throttle position or RPM.

    I purchased a 2012 Wrangler Sport and had one of these installed, there is ZERO torque until 3200rpm. It also has a CEL (P0330) and will not pass inspection in NY. I am still trying to get it sorted out. The lack of what I consider low end torque is really disappointing, maybe I am just spoiled by my other vehicles, I am not used to winding the piss out of an engine just to get any power/torque. With 35" tires, 6th gear is useless even on the highway if there is any incline. Like I said, I may just be spoiled.

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  7 лет назад +3

      Mike Schmauss you may have more than one problem. First you shouldn't be getting a knock sensor code. That code could likely pull spark which could affect your low end. Assuming everything is installed correctly you get boost much earlier than most kits. So either you have an expectation problem like you mentioned, but the fact you are getting CEL lights does say you have a mechanical problem. I would take it back to your installer and have them resolve it. You should have no CEL lights with this kit if running the Edelbrock calibration. If your running another type calibration well then that could be part of the problem. Really it should go back to the installer to get one, or more than one, issue sorted out.

    • @mikeschmauss7805
      @mikeschmauss7805 7 лет назад

      Thanks for responding. My installer said he had a CEL on his and Edelbrock gave him a V3 calibration (or something like that). I called Edelbrock and they said that particular code is not their problem. I took it back to my installer and he switched knock sensors and still had the same code. It may be a wiring harness issue which I am told is a real bitch the way the wires are run. The vehicle only has 1100 miles on it, I am already thinking about my first Jeep's reliability. :-( When it hits 3200rpm it is like someone flips a power switch on, none before that. (?)

    • @BrenspeedEngineering
      @BrenspeedEngineering  7 лет назад

      Mike Schmauss I can offer two pieces of advise. 1. Either that code is causing spark to be pulled down low, and yes, your Edelbrock calibration does not cause that code is something mechanical. 2. Bypass valve possibly set up wrong and not closing properly. All could be resolved by a qualified shop. It's all guessing without proper diagnoses. Good luck hope you figure it out!

    • @mikeschmauss7805
      @mikeschmauss7805 7 лет назад

      UPDATE: Edelbrock said I needed a software update from Jeep so I took it to the dealer. The dealer updated the software and now the Jeep won't run. They have tried several new programs from SCT and it won't even start now. Now they are sending the ECU (or whatever) to see if SCT can fix the problem. What a nightmare.

      Chances are if you’re at the point where you’re supercharging your jeep, you’ve done enough work to void you warranty already. I’ve heard stories of dealerships voiding the entire vehicle warranty just because the customer has a lift kit that the dealership didn’t install

    at 2:24 you say you dont notice an effect on gas mileage. How? A supercharger adds parasitic loss to the engine, and the system itself adds weight. How can you corroborate such a wild claim?

      Not all the time because the boost in power removes strain on engine meaning less throttle to maintain speed equals better fuel mileage at cruising speeds usually 1-5mpg during highway use in a JK. At WOT it does because much more fuel is needed for proper combustion because the effective engine compression ratio increases due to boost.

      You obviously don't know how a supercharger works...there is no boost at cruising/idle speeds. The only loss would the be the effort it takes to spin a bearing and the free wheeling rotor pack, which is less than your AC when its on. As far as weight...do you notice a significant loss in MPG when you fill up your rig with fuel? A full tank of gas weighs around 130lbs....lol. Schools out.

    stock gears, super charged, and over sized tires. Good bye drive shafts and transmission.

      Luckily I have put 20,000 miles on this set up and my shafts are good.

      @@BrenspeedEngineering for now, they're not going to instantly blow up from extra stress. But you will find the torque converter with more wear than normal, and the CV joints on the shafts will have more wear as well, and without regearing and stock drive shafts run a higher risk of catastrophic failure. I have a 2008 Wrangler with 168k miles. I have seen what parts don't like big tires, and power adding will complicate it further. Plus if you have the proper gearing in the axle for the tires, you'll see a superior torque delivery over what you have now.
