    I love it, thank you so much for doing a poncho! I hadn't thought of using a zip hoodie, I usually see them done with t-shirts, and in that case I guess you'd choose lighter fabrics. Thanks again, it turned out so good!

    How fun! Because of your videos and those of 'tmyers handmade', I have finally gotten the courage to put the scissors to my decades old, well used denim jacket. Life has given this old body some mobility challenges. I now have difficulty with dressing myself because my arms, shoulders are painfully inflexible. I cut the sleeves off the jacket making deep arm holes that end at the banded waist. I'm binding them in bright colored flannel. The sleeves of a flannel shirt are split and made into big patch pockets where before there were none.
    I had to drape the jacket across my sewing station for several days prior to cutting into it. It was emotional for me. I am so very happy to have done this first beautifully freeing up cycle project. I thank you sincerely for your part in this liberating process.
    Peace and blessings from south Texas 💜

      I think Tymers channel is awesome and I'm so happy that I could play a part in your upcycle journey. I'm also very glad you took the plunge and created something you love. It is hard to cut into something sometimes not knowing if it will turn out good or not. I'm super happy yours turned out awesome. Texas is blessed to have someone like you.

    I like this. I would modify it though.
    I have batting. I would quilt the poncho part and make it 2 to three inches longer in the front and approximately 4 to six in the back.
    I've got a thing for pockets and. Thinking pockets on the inside primary body if it.

      @@SherryJonesDesigns your videos are what got me started upcyling and sewing clothes in general. I started hand sewing quilt tops and luckily found a really nice sewing machine at a goodwill for 20 bucks about 2 months ago so now I am getting used to it. Lol I started hand sewing a tunic but it ended up being a skirt. I basically took your sleeve idea and attached them to a pair of jeans I cut off. I tried it on as a tunic and decided it made me look too big. Haha

    Good video, thanks 😊. I’m more interested in the BASIC construction of combining hoodie with rectangular pieces ( as sleeves). Basic rectangular fabric pieces, rather than patchwork. I stopped vid frequently and still can’t figure out if you’ve sewn a seam for arm definition ( loosely from wrist to underarm area.. ) or if you sewing a line definition along the added rectangular fabric pieces ( from bottom,along the area where hoodie and nee fabric meets) ? OR if this is a totally “ open” poncho style. ? Cheers

    • @SherryJonesDesigns
      @SherryJonesDesigns  7 месяцев назад +1

      Thank you! I did not sew a sleeve for the arm to go into but rather sewed the end closed leaving a good sized opening...probably 3 to 10 inches. Hope that helps!
