Hi! Lovely and beautiful bike! My father has a 1500. We are Italian and we are Goldwing riders too! Sorry for my bad english! Have a nice day, Kiss from Italy! ❤🙏❤
You know , its good to show a little hardware on a big motorcycle. The 1500 has a slightly more traditional, or old-school look about it Compared to the 4th generation 1800.
@@goldwingrider6184 well to be honest with you I've owned three gold wings a 1976 gl1000. A 1982 GL1100. A 1997 GL 1500. They were all pretty quick for big bikes. I think the GL1000 was probably the quickest. Comparing my GL 1500 to my Valkyrie. I don't think there's a whole lot of difference other than fuel mileage. Of course with six into six Cobra exhaust it sure sounds a lot faster
It's beautiful!! Hold on to it in the coming years those bikes will be sought after. The smoothest bike I've ever owned. These bikes will be collectors items
1st Goldwing was a 1979. 2nd GW was a 2003. After researching the history/timeline/reviews, I've decided my next GW will be a 1500 SE (97 or newer). The hunt is on here in northern Illinois. ✌
I had the exact bike. It was the most comfortable of the Wings I've had, '85, '93, '06 and '18. No valves to adjust, the smoothest and most comfortable of any wing. Our only complaint was that is was more top heavy than the rest especially if loaded for a trip. Had the most luggage space of all of them, especially compared to the scaled down '18. Even unloaded it seemed more top heavy than the rest. It's still a great bike! Yours is awesome!
Great specimen. The color combination works in part because the wood tone is in the opposite end of the reflective spectrum from the paint. The chrome "pops" (@2:20) between both tones. Nice work. Regards. (I agree about the controls. Cars are becoming more dangerous because you have to take your eyes off the road to poke at the proper part of a video screen for basic controls. That means more danger for riders too.)
Not at all. They were the Cadillac of wings. I have a 17 1800 but those 1500 came decked out. Loved the storage capacity. Think Honda took a step back with 02 to 17. That could be 01 might be a year off. And the 18 up took another step back. Beautiful bikes but definitely not a traveling bike like the old ones. Just my opinion for what its worth.
Wow! I have a ‘93 black low mileage Goldwing 1500 Aspencade. You give me hope that I can bring it up to snuff. Yours looks sharp. I’ve got to figure out how to update the sound system and the flip down compartments on each side of the passenger seats are broken. I didn’t know they could be replaced. Thank you for this video.

Actually, you should be able to balance a nickel on EDGE and fire up and rev the motor. It works on my Valkryie and my '94 GoldWing. ...and I agree with regards to the looks of my '94, which I prefer to the gl1800. I just bought a 94 gold wing aspencade off of a retired guy said he couldn’t ride anymore for Health reasons. It’s a real cream puff. It only had 37,000 miles on it. I have a 93 GL with 55k miles that I bought 12 years ago and it is a great running comfortable bike. I also have a 2006 Road Glide with 56k miles and runs great but I think I like the Goldwing a little more.
For those like me with nerve problems in their left hand a DCT is great, so I like the new goldwing for that. However, the overall design of the bike with the buttons and the large saddle bags should have been left like your bike!
Nice machine! I have a 93 trike that has 117,000 miles on it and right now needs an alternator. I have had 1800 owners tell me they like the 1500 better.
@@robdonell9915 ......it's an easy job if you put the stock alternator back on. The Compufire alternator is larger but you can work it in. I put the Compufire on my 1500.
I have an 83' goldwing "naked wing" . Ride it too work everyday. 4 carbs , so I warm it up for 5. Needs some cleaning but minimal. Rides as clean as this one. Gl1100 key west , monument valley, dragon in eastern N.C.
Love the bike and video, you have done a great job and rightly proud. I own a 96 SE in pearl white and have upgraded the air filter, braided brake hoses, billeted angle air valves, stainless steel exhaust, progressive front forks, fork brace, and replaced the alternator with a Compufire which also involves doubling up the main fuse and using a AGM battery. This charges from tickover at 14.3 volts as a common issue is when moving slow say in a light parade the battery can go flat. Anyway she runs great and is now more future proof without going over the top. Regards from Lancashire UK.
On my second 1500 Gwing. Great bikes and over 20 years later, there's a ton of them around. They are virtually indestructible with a little common sense maintenance.
I have the exact same year and same Teal colour with about same miles it's a Canadian GL1500 SE too...I bought in 2008 paid 9000.00 for it with 40,000 kms I put 46000 kms on it and it still runs great! And great for 2-up riding!Just Don't understand the areas of discolouration on yours because mine does not have that Unless your's is close to the Ocean or something! Mines is always in the Garage unless on a trip.Have to say for 27 years old there is not a leak anywhere!
Great looking bike- I like the wood trim kit. I looked last week at a '95 SE, same color, at a dealership with very high mileage for $1K. They couldn't get it started, said it had been sitting for over a month. If they get it running and it shifts well, may just nab it.
the dealership had to change the battery in mine on the showroom floor to get it started, i sniffed the exhaust , smelled old degraded gas. listend to the idle once it warmed up. and while holding the brake in 1st let the clutch outa bit to see if the ignition broke up under strain. it passed all my old school test , then i rode it. let go of the bars at 30 and he front end was solid as a rock , had no trouble balancing and there was no front whell wobble. if the one your looking passes all those test, i would look at the body and if it was in fare condition... i would take her home, good luck
Unfortunately didn’t work out. They assured me at first it would be inspected, then back- pedaled and said it needed fork seals so they couldn’t. Wanted me to commit to an extra $500 without being able to test ride. Without knowing how the tranny was I passed.
I've been looking around for 5 years for a wood kit like yours. I have a 1985 Goldwing Limited with 48K miles. But no luck finding one. About 6 miles from my hour there is one of those paint in the water paint shop that if I take all the parts apart and take to them they can make it like yours, only permanently but it is quite expensive. I know how to do it, and I've done it, but on a very small scale and very unprofessionally.
Hey, here is where I got my wood grain kit, they sell it in couple different kits to match your stereo and different models of the 1500. www.wooddash.com HONDA GOLDWING Dash Trim Kits for Motorcycles, Auto Accessories ...
The GL1500....Im a proud owner, and i will say, its the last of the bullet proof goldwings. The net is FULL of 1800 drive line failures.....gear box failures.....engine issues.....electronics acting up. My bike is 30 years old.......i change the oil......new front tire every year.....and shes ready to go cross country any time i fire her up. If you require cool factor in your life, then maybe its not for you. If you require a bike you can trust to never leave you walking......its a GL1500
To be honest the internet is filled with every make, model and year of bikes having problems. If you look hard enough every bike has power train and electronic gremlins. Most of the time it's user error that causes these problems.
@@kugangles9860 i agree, and disagree......ask ANY harley owner. The 1998 Harley was great......the 2021 Harley is in the shop almost yearly......charging systems going out,.......rocker box issues. As is the same with all newer cars. Corners cut to increase profit .My 30+ year old goldwing is trouble free. This year after 32 years.......she is getting a u joint in the drive shaft. And thats the biggest repair to date. The 1800 is fancy......and more stuff , poorly made, to break.
Greetings, As always another fantastic detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸 When you say you spent $2200, in mechanical parts or cosmetic? Thank you so much for assisting me. I'm trying to make up my mind to purchase one. Keep producing more videos
I've never had to do much mechanical to this bike, it ran fine from the time I bought it and other than the issue with the gas cap, I fixed with a small drill hole, its never needed anything other than filters.
Totally agree, but it seems like the 1500 has its own following. When people ask me about buying a bike. I always say the same thing. Buy a gl1500, its a superior bike in many ways , and they are really easy to ride.
I put 880k on this exact bike the only reason I had to upgrade is because of the emissions problem in London United Kingdom I love this bike I love my 1800 as well I will probably buy another 1500 Some day
Hey , welcome to the club . Big difference between a vtwin and a boxer 6 huh? Never road a trike but I imagine that it has to be a super smooth ride.if you ever try heating your armrest let is know how that goes , I don't remember exactly how my 1800' s skinned, might be interesting to know if it works with yours.
I notice in the comments that a LOT of people say it's the best bike they ever owned. That does not necessarily mean it's the best one ever made. I put nearly 200,000km on an '06 1800, and it was far and away the best 'Wing I have ever owned. Never owned a 1500, but rode with guys that had owned both. They all said the 1800 was far better. Fair to say they are all pretty darn good. Comes down to personal taste after that.
thanks for the comment.. you know both my 1800's were faster and the sound system was way better on both. the 1500 has it charms tho. the reverse shifter is weird but kind of cool. i do like having all the bells and whistles with visible controls, it just looks cooler to have more buttons. honestly the comfort is comparable and the handling too. here is the thing , i payed way too much for those bikes to ever take them home and start cutting and experimenting on them, hence the real beauty of a nearly indestructable $3200 motorcycle that you can always part out if you go to far and mess it up.... hahaha
I'm a big fan of all of the Goldwings but let's not be totally ridiculous. Honda is not going to bring back a 27 year old motorcycle. The current model with the double Wishbone suspension and the DCT it's just the Pinnacle of Goldwings. That being said that's a nice bike you got there
Pretty bike. Love the color scheme. They were good, smooth, dependable bikes, but too slow to suit me. My dad had a 97 Gold Wing and my 88 Yamaha Venture would leave him in the dust. The 1800 Wings perform much better, though.
There is a Teal one for sale near me, and I’m in love!! After watching your vid, I might just consider it.. Do you have a video of your sound system ??

I like my 1800, but I LOVED my 1500s
For those like me with nerve problems in their left hand a DCT is great, so I like the new goldwing for that. However, the overall design of the bike with the buttons and the large saddle bags should have been left like your bike!
1995 gw trike it's unreal 👍
Nice machine! I have a 93 trike that has 117,000 miles on it and right now needs an alternator. I have had 1800 owners tell me they like the 1500 better.
How difficult was the alternator to replace ?
Sounds pretty coll , you should post a walk through video
Wow great comment, lots of new stuff I can consider doing myself.. Thanks!
Great job on the restoration! This bike definitely belongs in a someone's display garage. Is it outdated? Yep.
On my second 1500 Gwing. Great bikes and over 20 years later, there's a ton of them around. They are virtually indestructible with a little common sense maintenance.
She’s beautiful. Great job 👍
Thanks
nice job , many smiles ahead
Very nice wing. I'm getting my first one Saturday. Can't wait.
Congrats and safe riding. Welcome to the club haha
Beautiful machine congratulations
Thanks
1000? They can send it to me right away. I’ll sign “as is”.
Unfortunately didn’t work out. They assured me at first it would be inspected, then back- pedaled and said it needed fork seals so they couldn’t. Wanted me to commit to an extra $500 without being able to test ride. Without knowing how the tranny was I passed.
@@stevenbullock9276 Fair enough, then I’ll take it. Can you hook me up, please?
They sent it to auction
Bought a 98 aspencade gl1500. I really love working on it
I've been looking around for 5 years for a wood kit like yours.

HONDA GOLDWING Dash Trim Kits for Motorcycles, Auto Accessories ...
I have been looking at this exact bike but 1992 😅
Beautiful. Well done. How hard was it to replace trim pieces? How hard is it access mechanical interior?
Beautiful bike. I have the red gl1500. What’s the wood grain and where did you purchased it. Loos awesome.
Thanks
hey , thanks for the comment . i got the trim kit and replacement rear speaker kit at www.wooddash.com/
Greetings,
As always another fantastic detailed video 🇺🇸🍾🎉🇺🇸
When you say you spent $2200, in mechanical parts or cosmetic?
Thank you so much for assisting me.
I'm trying to make up my mind to purchase one.
Keep producing more videos
I've never had to do much mechanical to this bike, it ran fine from the time I bought it and other than the issue with the gas cap, I fixed with a small drill hole, its never needed anything other than filters.
She’s a beauty!
That’s a good looking older Goldwing
Currently one of the best values in used motorcycles.
Totally agree, but it seems like the 1500 has its own following. When people ask me about buying a bike. I always say the same thing. Buy a gl1500, its a superior bike in many ways , and they are really easy to ride.
Very nice old wing. Never rode the 1500… I am currently riding a 2008 and like it quite a bit. Would not care for the Carbs on the 1500
Beautiful bike… I own a 2008 gl1800. 🇺🇸💫⭐️👍🏻 Hoosier Wing
I put 880k on this exact bike the only reason I had to upgrade is because of the emissions problem in London United Kingdom I love this bike I love my 1800 as well I will probably buy another 1500 Some day
I now own an 03 1800 an my wife said she liked the 1500 more..more space an comfort for her
That wood grain finish is awesome! Where did you get it?
That is a beautiful bike. Just purchase 2002 1800 trike. Went from harley Davidson to Honda goldwing. It is one nice bike for the road.
You did good got a great bite 40,000 mi just getting going good luck
Last proper Goldwing in my opinion!
The bike looks great.
Beautiful, where did u get wood grain kit
Well done!!
Comes down to personal taste after that.
thanks for the comment.. you know both my 1800's were faster and the sound system was way better on both. the 1500 has it charms tho. the reverse shifter is weird but kind of cool. i do like having all the bells and whistles with visible controls, it just looks cooler to have more buttons. honestly the comfort is comparable and the handling too. here is the thing , i payed way too much for those bikes to ever take them home and start cutting and experimenting on them, hence the real beauty of a nearly indestructable $3200 motorcycle that you can always part out if you go to far and mess it up.... hahaha
Sweet ride, well done.
i had a 95 gl1500 in 2020 with 147000 miles on it. took off 2 weeks later on a 3000 mile trip.
Gorgeous bike ✌️
beautiful
I'm a big fan of all of the Goldwings but let's not be totally ridiculous. Honda is not going to bring back a 27 year old motorcycle. The current model with the double Wishbone suspension and the DCT it's just the Pinnacle of Goldwings. That being said that's a nice bike you got there
Damn..... It's beautifull bike.....
I hate the looks of goldwings BUT THIS ONE RIGHT HERE IS GORGEOUS!
I'd rather keep my 1500 Valkyrie. It's nice that parts are so available, tho.
Super 👍 👍 👍
