In our region, things were refined a bit by using a milk roll instead of an ordinary wheat roll. The dough and the whole milk bun itself are softer and a little sweeter. And the 10 pfennigs more that the milk roll cost was very well invested for us as school children...

  • @hape3862

In the 1970s, I used to get that at the bakery next to our bus station in our little village in Bavaria, waiting for the school bus. We called it "Mohrenkopf-Semmel". (Yes, "Moor-head bread roll" - political correctness wasn't a thing yet.)
Sometimes we varied with a Milky Way (sliced in half horizontally) instead of the Dickmann's.

Unbeschwerte Kindheit. 😢 Miss the Time.

In the 1970s it became politically incorrect to call that sweet "Schokokuss" by its original name anymore. Besides the fact that "the N-word" was considered bad taste anyway and was replaced by terms like "Farbige" (people of colour) or "Afrikaner" ,the idea to associate people with chocolate just because of their identical colour, even in connection with the imagination of being kissed by its tender sweetness, was considered more and more tactless as well.

On rolls you can actually put nearly everything on. From sausage and all kinds of cheese, to ground pork meat (Mett!) , fish, Quark with salt or jam, or just jam. Try but once Apfelkraut or Zuckerrüben-Sirup. These are things you certainly do not know yet. All on rolls, delish... Great vid anyway. Take care..
