We drive on the left because, back in the day, we may have had to draw our sword.
Isn't it something to do with knight templars? Or medieval times where a knight wore his sword on his left hip so as to use his right hand to draw his weapon same with the handshake where you shook hands to show you hadn't a weapon in your hand and Europe,,. France on right something to do with Napoleon 🌹😚😁
Enjoy, but be careful ‼️🙏🏻❤️🙏🏻🇬🇧
It's funny and it's been proven for a variety of reasons that the majority of the world drives on the most illogical side of the road (not the sensible side like we Brits do).
Route is pronounced ROOT .
Thanks for commenting! Meririam-Webster Dictionary says it can be pronounced either way.
And please be carful with language. Don't say focus . In the north the camera man says he's going to focus . And the child says 'What both of us ! '
In England they say if you drive don't drink. But in Scotland it's recommended to have a wee dram.
And now Mr American try driving in France. You have to give way to any vehicle coming out of a side road - you must stop. The same with round a bouts , you give way to cars entering from the right. Most English don't know this !
Napoleon changed to the right as crowned emperor of Europe to challenge the British.
P.s. but shipping rules still remain passing on the Starboard ( right) side . This confuses the French. 😱
Im german and eating right now 2 mettbrötchen while watching this.
Mettbrotchen Wednesday = taco Tuesday
I need to get out more 😂 I’ve never ventured outside Idaho I need to live a little 😂 This place is beautiful
I would love to visit something that ancient
It was amazing!
Scandinavian here! I visited this place in the turbulent 1970s and it’s one of the places that has been with me ever since. I have visited 85 countries, seen a few things and this is a place high on my list! ❤
Wow! So cool. Thanks for sharing.
Well, at least you didn’t drive a stick. In my case the first time driving in the UK I was instinctively trying to shift gears with the door handle 😂
im sorry we couldnt accomadate those poor americans and make everything suit them what a shame boo hoo
You can actually get to most places by train, even in Scotland. it's a lot more relaxing and there's plenty of time to see the scenery. Overseas visitors can buy a Britrail Pass before they arrive in the UK, this makes buying tickets cheaper and simple.
Beautiful stuff 🙂👍
It really is!
@@trailblazinpeppers 👍
You need to move your satnav somewhere that it does not block your vision.
You just have to take it slowly and steadily. 10 minutes a day for 4 days and the brain will adjust. A shame she says never again.
Why Irish music -it's Scotland.😁
They sound so similar! 😂
These Stolpersteine, which commemorate the victims of the Holocaust, were created by the German artist Gunter Demnig in 1992. There are now 100,000 of them in 30 countries.
"Plzeňské pivo, prosím!"
It was so delicious! One of the best we’ve had here in Europe.
@trailblazinpeppers The Czech Republic and Germany are the best countries for beer. They also drink the most.
It's probably been mentioned before in a comment, but it's technically you could have been stopped by the police for having your phone/sat nav in that position. It should never obstruct your forward view.
Raw minced pork? Jah!
You really have to learn to adjust your seat 😊
Roundabouts are actually way more efficient than stop signs
Get a deadcat for the mic.
We have one. We’ve also invested in mics since these videos. 😁
Must be a real experience driving on the correct side of the road for the first time....
I had to go through so many unhelpful videos until I found this one. Thanks for making a video about this where you actually explain what it is and explain the taste instead of pulling weird faces. I could definitely eat this!
Thanks for the feedback!
Ain't called INTERSTATE either.
😂😂😂
why did you hire such a massive vehicle for your trip? Youre only four...
We rented a campervan. We did a two week camping trip in Scotland.
I was in the U.S. twice on business, good job I didn't have your problems adapting. Very sad.
It took us a little over a day to get the hang of it.
As a UK driver, I remember driving for the first time in a country that drove on the right. It was really odd for about 1.5 seconds and then I just got on with it like a normal human being.
Nice!
Hats off tobyou. I tried driving in Memphis and it was so weird being on the wrong side..
It’s hard to switch your brain to a different way. Especially if you’ve been driving that way for 15 years.
It’s not a back road till the hedges brush on both sides of the car😂😂
So true!!! 😂 We experienced that in Ireland a few weeks ago
Not wrong but this applied to horses. The petrol engine had not been invented. For car drivers there is no law that forces you to drive on the left, it's just conventional. That said you have to drive with due consideration for other road users. So driving on the right is pretty dumb, but it does explain that overtaking on the left is NOT an offence.
Nice march👍 isn’t it about time for a PCS? Any idea where you will be next? In the 80s I kept extending my Germany tour 👍
We will be due to PCS next summer. The location options will come available this fall. With my job I can be stationed anywhere. I extended for an extra year to make it 4. We absolutely love Germany. I would love to get stationed in Europe again someday.
Pretty cool. I was at Bamberg. K-Town. Frankfurt. Pirmesams. Fischbach bie Dahn. Best time of my life. 🇺🇸🇺🇸@@trailblazinpeppers
Wow what a career! These past 3 years have been the best years of our life and we have made so many memories!
First of all, congratulations on passing your hiking test. Well done! I was a bit surprised about the Edelweiss badge - it is the best-known symbol of the Alps instead of Franconian Switzerland. By the way, did you know that edelweiss growing in the wild is very rare and difficult to find. Therefore it's a protected plant and picking a wild edelweiss if caught leads to quite severe fines.
Thanks for watching! I had read that about the edelweiss flower. I have never seen one in the wild but it would be pretty neat to see one in person. The Edelweiss march can take place in any location as long as it meets the distance and elevation requirements. I would love to actually do the march in the Alps.
Franconian Switzerland…
@@wbader68 Thx alot. I corrected it. Don't know why or how I got it mixed up in the first place. 👍🏻
Great Video. Beautiful scenery. 45lbs. Wow. A lot of weight. Respect 👍🏻
Thank you! I am looking forward to doing the Nijmegan march next and documenting that experience. Thanks for watching!
I was in Muggendorf last year in spring and we went mostly the same trails as you. Wonderful, exciting, but partly very challenging! Liebe Grüße aus Mittelfranken!
Thank you! I loved the area and I can't wait to go back and spend more time there with my family. Thanks for watching!
Great achievement! Congratulations!. A picture of the badge/pin would have been nice. The area of Fränkische Schweiz is absolutely lovely. I've been there many times since I live nearby south of it. Nijmegen is really famous. I heard of that event 30 years ago, when I was in german navy. The march will be in 3 weeks or so. I'm curious about your impressions from that event. 😀
Thanks. I am still waiting to get my Edelweiss certificate and badge in the mail. I plan on filming the Nijmegan march to show what it is like. Thanks for watching!
Brits drive to Europe all the time and have to switch to driving on the right.
You mount a horse on the left and that's why we drive on the left. That's also the reason motorcycles are mounted on the left. I had the exact same problem when first driving in France, my right wheels were almost in the ditch because I'm used to most of the car being on my left. Luckily branches rattled on my side and dust blew up to warn me before I went completely off the edge. It's funny that no one warns you of this when you drive in a foreign country. It must be very common. Another thing I see all the time is people who drive on the left always want to do any kind of parking manoeuvre clockwise, and people who drive on the right want to rotate the vehicle anti clockwise. It doesn't work, and can put you in a dangerous position, easily ending up on the wrong side of the road. When driving on the left, try to get used to the idea of turning the car around clockwise. The other thing I find useful to focus on is the right turn (if driving in UK). Be conscious of the need to go forward and *then* right. I noticed here you cut the corner on your very first right turn. You cannot afford to cut corners in the UK, as junctions are too tight. My preference is to drive on my usual side of the car, regardless of what side of the road I'm on. I drove a right hand drive truck through France with no difficulties. Trucks do have seven mirrors though!
Its not the 'wrong' side It's the right (correct) side on the left
Beautiful
Thank you!
Just a tip, for anyone driving on the 'wrong' side, however experienced. When you make the first junction of the day, pause, then talk yourself through it. It kept me safe for 20 years or so driving though France and Spain.
TRASH! You seem to forget that we, Brits, have driven all over the WORLD so it just shows us how very poor drivers you are! Sorry . you just are.........
centtttter. pronounce the t dude. It is not cener.
