No! You’re not. That sounds a great set up. I’ve found that irrespective of where I am, you adapt with the camera and lense you take with you. I can’t remember if you said you’d been before, but definitely wrap up warm, it can get soooo cold at this time of year. One more tip, if you’re going to find yourself needing some quiet/solitude - go to St Patrick’s Cathedral. Apart from being absolutely stunning inside and out, it’s a temporary respite from the noise of New York - which eclipses London ten fold! Have a lovely trip and safe travels.
Same! The x100VI’s ability to crop into a 50mm and keep 20mp or resolution is just awesome. A few years ago I dreamt of having a Leica q2 for this reason, but could never justify the price. Props to Fuji !
Looks like you’re going to have a great time. Nice choice with the Fuji, as it can do a lot with its lens, built in flash, and ND filter. Oh, and FYI AER is pronounced “Air”. Hope you have a fantastic trip. Happy New Year!
Great Set Up Hannah! Minimal is definitely the way to go. My last trip i took my Fuji and one lens. This stressed me out but so much better once i was there! Ive done away with the neck strap , can’t get on with them but use the Peak design Wrist strap, Much better 👍 A couple of things to mention, I love the look of that charger you have and just how many camera bags do you have! Im still looking for the perfect EDC sling , harder work than it should be 🤣 Enjoy NYC and merry Christmas 👍🎄
I think I might have to ditch the strap as well, only enjoy it for actually carrying the camera. Bags… um… I can’t say 😂 It’s an ever evolving collection. Although I often sell a few. Still using the Wandrd. The AER backpack I’ve used for work everyday for so long. It’s amazing! Wishing you a very happy Christmas too 🎄 ps the battery pack is 💯
It's gunny you mention missing the wider focal lengths because I'm just the opposite. In New York especially I'm always taking pictures of gargoyles on buildings and what not. Have fun. If you go into Grand Central the ceilings are amazing.
Cool video! I really liked that angle of that last shot by the bike. On another note, would you mind sharing the details of your audio setup? Sounded really clean 🧼
Thank you - and for the feedback. Tried out a few new angles on this one so pleased they looked ok. I’m using the DJI Mic 2 for this set up with the Pocket 3. It packs a punch for such a small package…
During the summer, I took a trip to NYC. Took my X100V with that same filter. There were a few instances that I needed something wider. Went back in October and took X100V with the WCL and it was great, but it does make the camera less “minimal”. I did use the digital zoom a few times and pictures came out great.
@@HannahYoungPhotography It was my first time using a CPL filter. When shooting through glass, there was a weird effect on some pictures that I didn’t notice on the camera screen. Might have been user error, but be mindful of that.
The size of your camera will make a big difference. I used a Nikon Z6 II with a 24-70mm lens in NYC, and security around the larger buildings wasn’t too keen on it. The Fuji you have is much more discreet, so it should be perfect for those situations.
Thanks Tom. Another good thought, I hadn’t really considered this potential issue. Get it a bit in certain London spots sometimes now. So low-key is preferable! 🙏🏻
@@HannahYoungPhotography Also, if you’re going to any of the obvious skyscraper tourists spots, they won’t allow any tripod. They’ll insist you leave it with them 😮 so go for the camera that’s good at low shutter speeds with IBIS. I didn’t even risk it with a gorilla pod. Same goes if you’re around the financial district as well. Have a lovely trip and I look forward to seeing your photos.
I'm a NYC native and while I don't live there now, I return every year. I bring a Fuji X-T5 and 16-80 lens and that's it. I also bring a travel tripod for blue hour and nighttime, which is when the city comes alive. The camera with lens fits in a small sling bag. Took the same kit for three weeks in India and got great street shots and portraits. Steve McCurry shoots with one camera and a 24-70 zoom and he manages to do OK (LOL), so all this nonsense on RUclips about needing a "trinity" of primes for street or travel makes me laugh.
Thanks for watching! 100% it is not a patch on my A7CII. That is top notch. However, I can work with the Fuji for the kind of thing I shoot with it - not fast moving subjects 🙌🏼
Hi Hannah, enjoyable vid on travel camera choices. A little tip is that the Fuji 100VI does take some some small add-on lenes to the fixed 23mm to get a 50mm equiv etc. Just food for thought. Have a good trip in the Big Apple.🍏
Nice set up! For the record, I’ve been away with all my ‘bigger’ cameras and a multitude of lenses and my X100V, and I’ve ended up leaving the big stuff behind and just using the little one. No regrets either. You’ll be just fine! 😊 Enjoy your break
Fantastic setup! Although I may be slightly biased as it's almost identical to what I took when I went to New York last year. I took: Fuji X100F, Insta360 X3, phone, charer, spare batteries, power bank, and Surface Pro 8 to edit on. The Fuji is perfect for New York and I bet yo won't miss the ultra wide angle. The built in ND filter is brilliant for longer exposures (especially with the IBIS of the X100VI). I would highly recomend a mist filter of some description, especially at night, as it really adds something special to the images (well I like it anyway). The Fuji is also small enough that you just look like any other tourist and it doesn't scream professional (especially the all black version, super low key). I'm so jealous, I want to go back to NY, can't wait to see your images when you get back. Have a wicked time 😁📷🗽
Thanks! So great (and somewhat reassuring) to hear you rocked a similar set-up. I’m super excited for the simplicity and of course exploring NYC! Appreciate the support. And HNY to you 🥳
Am I crazy? 😛

A better question might be "How much is my crazy showing?" Bon voyage

Have a great time look forward to seeing your pics.. Hope you have a great Christmas x
Thanks so much. Cant wait to share… NYC is a playground for 📷 Happy Christmas to you too!
I hope you have a wonderful time. I stopped taking a bag full of lenes & now take my Fuji X100VI - haven’t looked back for Street + travel.
Amazing! Good to hear - I’m pretty excited for the challenge and very much the light carry… thanks for watching 🙂
@ great videos, keep up the great work.

I wish you nice days in NY and am already looking forward to your photos. LG Thomas
Many thanks… can’t wait for it and to share the pics 📷
1 camera,1 lens = less to think about (IMO) ! Hope you have a great trip and a wonderful Christmas…
100% agree. Very excited by the prospect 🥳 Wishing you a happy Christmas too 🎄

You’re right about the blue hour here 🤌 Also feeling simple is best… definitely less choice = creative freedom!!!
Thank you for sharing! Do you ever find the autofocus of the X100VI lacking as an A7C user?
Thanks for watching! 100% it is not a patch on my A7CII. That is top notch. However, I can work with the Fuji for the kind of thing I shoot with it - not fast moving subjects 🙌🏼

Good idea taking only one camera 📷 and one lens 🎉 much less distractions to think about other than taking solid shots… look forward to the video 👌
Very much looking forward to keeping it simple and hopefully some super nice images. Looking forward to sharing…. Thanks for watching 🙌🏼
Wonderful. My X100V is my GoTo travel camera.
It’s so much fun. Buzzing to take it away ✌🏻
Amazing how much stuff “minimal” requires
Haha. This is very true 🤪
Have a super trip!
