CLIP DESCRIPTION:
Frank (Jean-Claude Van Damme) remembers back to meeting his master Tanaka (Roy Chiao) and fighting off school bullies.
FILM DESCRIPTION:
Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the aptly titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite (also spelled Kumatai), a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world-a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death (or near-death) between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux (who serves as the film's fight coordinator). Denied such niceties as production values, Bloodsport scores big-time in the violent action department. A sequel followed in 1995, inventively titled Bloodsport 2.

Cast: Roy Chiao, Pierre Rafini, Jean-Claude Van Damme, Sean Ward

You can tell that kid is special.
He became a badass later tho
It’s like they held a casting call for kids with worse acting skills that Van Damme.
To be honest, Van Damme might be not the greatest actor around, but he never came as plain bad. Given the overall material and the dialog JCVD did a decent job for an inexperienced actor in his basically first proper role.
This is one of my favorite movies. But OMG the acting was horrible lol 😂

San Francisco Giants hat, New York Giants shirt.
In all seriousness, I think that's meant to demonstrate his alienation as an immigrant. Frank didn't know that there are two different sports teams named the "Giants."
Yes, but he American! lol
@@aragon319 huh?
@@gokinsmen - interesting, I always thought it was a foreshadow of Frank's future, meaning he would train under Tanaka, eventually become a martial arts "giant" and win the Kumite.
Well the SF Giants used to play in New York.... so it does make sense.
If you say Kumite 3 times in front of a mirror, young Frank Dux appears behind you with his 2:34 intimidating scary stance
The kumite takes place with an adult Van Damme/Dux in the 1980s, yet in the flashback all of the kids are in 80s style clothing, there are 80s BMX bikes, etc. when the flashback should be taking place in the mid 1970s.
Skull Krusher407 why u so loud? 😡😩
The 80s was well on its way to the 80s in the late 70s? It usually takes the first 3-5 years of the next decade to fully shred the last decades fashion, style, etc...The 90s repeated the same cycle into the early 90s.
the whole story is bullshit it doesnt matter
@@drivingintothedesertuntilt3202 😂😂😂😂
It is difficult to know how old Frank Dux is as an adult since Jackson say he is just a kid. So assuming that he is 21-years old it should somehow be accurate that he was 14-years old 1980 and the Kumite happens 1987. We all know Van Damme was 27 -years old but come on, lets just pretend!
What's your favorite sports team?
Frank: The Giants.
The football or the baseball team?

Kid gets beat up and as soon as he gets up he dreams of being Kumite champion. First beat up the kids in your grade before you dream of Kumite kid.
That scene specifically only still confuses because what's very vague to me is the fact that shingo who round kicked young frank earlier and physically with ease beat young frank's behind at the practice mat before calling him round eye couldn't handle those 2 bullies on his own despite the fact that he's a well trained young martial artist but couldn't easily take down those 2 bullies on his own which still boggles my mind till this day
