    CLIP DESCRIPTION:
During the Kumite, Frank (Jean-Claude Van Damme) takes on and defeats the Muay Thai kickboxer Paco (Paulo Tocha) while Janice (Leah Ayres) cheers him on.
    FILM DESCRIPTION:
Jean-Claude Van Damme makes his starring debut in the aptly titled Bloodsport. An American soldier at large in Hong Kong, Van Damme becomes involved in the Kumite (also spelled Kumatai), a highly illegal kickboxing competition. Whoever survives the bout will be crowned Kumite champion of the world-a title that has plenty of challengers with homicide in their hearts. The finale offers a duel to the death (or near-death) between Van Damme and reigning Kumite king Bolo Yeung. The script is based on the real-life exploits of martial arts champ Frank Dux (who serves as the film's fight coordinator). Denied such niceties as production values, Bloodsport scores big-time in the violent action department. A sequel followed in 1995, inventively titled Bloodsport 2.
    CREDITS:

I met Paco in ‘88 in Hollywood at a low key exclusive club. He was the security bouncer and I didn’t even go in, just stayed out there talking to him, more like interviewing him. He said the way he fought was an actual style, and he was a very humble guy, and definitely a highlight of my life meeting and hanging out with him.

      Awesome memory for sure!!
I first learned of Jean Claude Van Damme in the early 1990's, I was about 13 or 14 years young.
My first video of his I saw was Lion Heart as well as Bloodsport.
Mr. Jean Claude Van Damme has been an inspiration to me to not give up in my everyday struggle's.
He's taught me indirectly to keep getting up after life's punches/kicks it might throw at me.
I've took some martial arts, but never made it to any where near a high rank belt or level.
I'll leave that up to people such as Van Damme to do the physical fighting.

Paco would've given Chong Li a serious run for his money with his height, reach and Muay-Thai kickboxing skills and it would've been a length, close and narrow fight but Chong Li would've won in the end due to Chong Li's superior grappling and wrestling skills and strength. Paco would've given Chong Li the work though. And for his challenge Chong Li most likely would've murdered Paco at the end. As he nearly did to Jackson and his last opponent before Dux.

He got a lot of people into the sport and practice. He takes it very seriously though, too. He has several videos where he talks about his hatred for people who get into MT and think it’s all about fighting. It’s not just about fighting. Check out some of his interviews. I m a TKD guy and it is the kick I love and respect the most. But still, JCVD didn t apply it perfectly at all, he was standing a bit too close and hit him in the neck, should have hit him in the chin, that would have sent Paco straight into a coma. But this is one of the most powerful kicks there is (the one more powerful is the same one when performed jumping), it s lethal, and did the job well anyway of course.

I always admired this scene. It was one of the best displays of strategy. Frank Dux realized that the reason Paco begin the fight with punching him was because his legs were not strong. Frank Dux realized his legs weren’t strong when he tripped him. He also exploits it by kicking his legs before he taunts him to a the last part of the fight where they go blow for blow to the body. Paco falls for the challenge that Frank Dux knew he would when since his legs are stronger than Paco’s. Great scene. Forever a fan of this movie.
