On the C64, the reason why so many go up in price is that many problem strip out the SID sound chip and sell them for spares….so you often get the SID missing or replaced with a dodgy copy
Being a "Sony repair guy from the 80's", it made me smile that at least someone still thinks that's cool. It seems literally nobody wants anything repaired anymore, which for me, is a bit sad. People just throw everything in the tip, and then grump about having to buy another off of ebay. Companies don't have repair centres anymore either, it's just smashed/ground up if it's returned. It's all going to be gone one day, get it repaired people. 😛
It’s wrong digital downloads are the same cost as a boxed game. Should be several £s cheaper, plus like you said, you can’t sell it on or swap it etc. I don’t like it. I like having a physical copy, same with CDs. I think they have done this to remove the second hand market as they don’t make money once it’s been sold once. It’s a way to increase income.
Heyyy, used to watch you back in the day :) Still a joy to watch/listen to, so glad I found you again. What happened to that other bloke? Also, I remember walking round town with Mum in the early-mid 90s trying to sell my C64 with bags of games and no shops wanted it. So I ended up dumping it in the bushes as was too heavy to carry home. wish I still had it now ... even had both the big Dizzy Collection boxsets. I have a feeling the current gen won't age as well as the 80s/90s/early 2000s stuff ... we were so lucky to grow up in the golden age of gaming :)
Also, as you get older you can’t hear high pitch noise, hence why they use that tone to disperse kids. However as you get older you can hear deeper levels of base that younger ears can’t hear.
When my father’s design studio changed computers I had 30 almost pristine fully functioning apple 2 computers. I ended up throwing them in the landfill to make space in the garage. Years later they would have been worth a pretty penny! Regrets……😢
Intelivision game console from the late 70's Sega Saturn (did anyone actually have one?) Was there a digital camera which used minidiscs? I remember seeing one being used on a TV program.
Gadget show needs to come back it was fun and exciting to watch, only Craig charles made it good again, now the new show "Save money " is a website with presenters.
There are some silly prices about. A C64 on some of the retro facebook groups tend to go for £100/£150 for a boxed device (around £70/80 for an unboxed device). So not as high as quoted here. (Ebay prices can be odd though)
Had a 64 and was in a box in my parents shed for years, my dad also had that same camera….. I still have an old Walkman that looks similar to that one but was silver with blue unlike that one that was blue with silver, had the double headphone socket and I also have a Walkman 10th anniversary 701C……an amazing Walkman. I think it’s that same as the Fast Ford thing, you have to be of a certain age, so I don’t see they will increase in value in 10yrs because it will be people who are 10yrs younger now who will be paying inflated prices for games or gear they were playing using as a kid.
The Nintendo Game Boy released in September 1990 (in the UK) at a price point of £69.95 which, after taking into account inflation, is worth £168.07 as of September 2024. So to be worth between £100-300 isn't really that much of a gain. It's actually a loss if sold for less than ~£170. I'll be honest, I couldn't be arsed researching the rest.
still possess a sony walkman II wm-2. headphones anymore.. the walkman needs a new plastic bar to push the playhead, plus a new ribbon for the tapehead.
They seem to be heading to digital only games, it's in their interest as they profit more as they cut out the second hand market, they can also keep a price high as in the past certain games would drop in value quite fast in places like CEX, had a commadore 64 when I was a kid, it was gone long before I was in charge of what stays and goes lol
Specialist auctions , or prices realised ar them are a joke. I dont know why people buy from them.. The prices realised there are often absolutely nowhere near what the same thing costs in the real world of forums / auctions etc.. Also, if you look back on auctions results you might see the same thing in the same condition selling for half the price sometimes only months apart.
These prices are hilariously over-inflated! Two-and-a-half grand for a TPS-L2. LMAO And five hundred quid for a Commodore 64! On what planet folks? Deluded or what.
Talking about nostalgia! Just discovering this channel with the two Gadget Show OGs! Happy days!
Wow…so happy you guys are back.
The only reason I ever watched channel 5 😅😅
I have the iPod Classic & still use it on holiday ! It's always been in a case & it hasn't got a mark on it !
Wow. I have an iPod classic that I still listen to and is in excellent condition!
Same here 😮

Jason should start a spin off gaming channel encompassing retro and modern.

I was surprised to hear it’s only downloads 😮
I have a Creative Nomad DAP Jukebox from around 2001 that was the first large capacity MP3 player.
Jason channeling Jay from The Inbetweeners here... 'Yeah, I've got ten of them'... 'Yeah, I've got that actually... or have I?'
At 0.35 from that camera angle, he's actually channeling a quadruple amputee...🤦
I have a Psion Organiser, any good?
Ive still got the original 'woody' Atari 2600 from back in the day
The MB Vectrex. They were groovy 😜🤪😝

Is my boxed ZX81 worth anything ??
Yeah. About fifty quid.

I had the Vic 20 before someone gave us their old C64. Happy days.
Those prices for Mario NES /n64 are just money laundering. Ridiculous.

Had an early model Sony Walkman, Gameboy and the first version of the C64. So maybe lost £1,000 🤢
