    Just suggestion. Drill holes at end of cracks before welding.
    It will prevent future cracking.

      Did we even watch the same video? This dude slotted out the entire length of the crack and well past it, then welded it.
      You and many others commenting somehow have the misconception of stop drilling being necessary. Stop drilling is a temporary repair procedure used to stop a crack from furthering in length if a weld repair cannot be performed at the time of discovery.

      ​@@Mr_Facts it was not pure magnesium but a much stronger alloy,just like copper,but a copper alloy,brass,is so much stronger than the pure copper,as you may know,brass is used for making firearms cartridges,same like the magnesium,in spite that the material is itself mostly magnesium,is the elements that makes the alloy itself that so much stronger that can be used as something else,like wheels,along aluminium alloys that are also take wheels form too,so the magnesium does same,not pure element,but an alloy based on that metal,have a great time there 😀

    Cast aluminum has a lot of impurities. The best way I found to weld cast aluminum successfully is make a pass and it burns all the impurities out, then grind out that pass and the next will be clean and good!

      That’s how it’s done on older or contaminated parts. A clutch casing made in the last 30 to 40 years should be better metal.

      😂that’s right I Tig welded some rocker covers for a mate put some special connectors he wanted. They took a shit load of cleaning and even then still got oil coming out in the weld. Made it look good at the end it was a fun little job. 😂

      @@3cheese711 I'm just bullshittin, I wouldn't preheat that thing either, you would have to disassemble the entire transmission so you didn't destroy any of the seals and rubber\plastic bits inside of it. It almost wouldn't even be worth the repair at that point.

      Done a dozen of these, its chunky and bubbled on the inside. Most times you have to "wash" the weld inside to smooth any undercut.

    Insbesondere wurden die Enden der Risse vor dem Schweißen rund gefräst. Damit werden sich die Risse auch nicht mehr weiter ausbreiten können.👍Top Arbeit!

      I had a turbo350 auto transmission that cracked pretty bad like that because of a torque converter bolt that broke and flung itself around in the cavity..I'm a welder myself and that is a fine looking job you've done.. RESPECT 💪💪🇺🇸👍

    That same job saved me around $4,000, and possibly more on welding a cracked housing on Mercedes automatic transmission. The welder who did the repair was able to repair the factory defect with the tranny installed.

      Их есть и много. И это далеко не самый лучший из них. Так то по краям трещины неплохо бы засверлить отверстия, чтобы она дальше потом не раскрывалось. И после сварки прогреть колокол чтобы снять напряжение

      Есть у нас мастера, только не там где сами на себя работают.Такой один супер сварщик который берет супер дорого нам коробку заварить не смог, сказал трещины новые дает.Поехали в порт, там дядька кусок вырезал другой припаял и всего тыщу рэ взял)

      В 2003 году мотор на БМВ рассухарились клапана, так как заклинило дроссель и двигатель перекрутило. Клапана разбили ГБЦ, а новой нет что бы купить, кому только не возили и не показывали на восстановление, везде получали отказ, если и заварим то все равно пойдут трещины и тому подобное.
      На ремонт все таки взял один токарь, не знаю чем он варил, и чем затем восстанавливал клапанные гнезда и форму камер сгорания. Но ГБЦ после ремонта мы не узнали, на первый взгляд это была абсолютно новая головка блока цилиндров, и всю работу он выполнил за скромные две тысячи рублей. С этой головкой машина прослужила еще пять лет, и ушла другому хозяину. И самое удивительное, он даже не был сварщиком😁

      @@rastilin619 Cast aluminum (and most other cast metals, for that matter) tend to be brittle *and* work harden very fast. Without that preheat, the metal would likely have simply cracked rather than bending back into shape.

    Wenn man das aluminum bei so einer Reparatur schweisung rückstandsfrei schön sauber macht ohne fremdstoffe, lässt sich sowas sehr sauber wieder verschweissen. Ich liebe es.

      Die Naht ist mit Sicherheit gut gewurzelt das kann man sich aus der Vorarbeit ausreimen. Die Schweißraupe zeigt das sehr deutlich da sie gesackt ist und nicht bucklige auf dem Material verläuft. Sie können mir glauben ich weiß von was ich Rede und der weiß das er richtig schweißt. Daumen hoch

      @@mcovs as Eddie said it’s t remove the possibility of porosity but also allows you to fuse/bond the metal better. If you just welded over a small crack there’s going to be oils and debris from flywheel in there. This method cleans a lot of that up plus allows new material to be welded/fused.

    Welding in and of itself is a talent that takes years to master. Welding aluminum is a whole different beast that very few welders have mastered.

      I worked with a welder by the name of Kelso he was the greatest welder I ever seen in my life he could well to empty pop cans together pop the top and there'd be a vacuum can use one of the few welders I ever knew that could weld anything most are just Rod burners

But yeah I had never welded on aluminum and a guy had a tungsten welder n let me try it. So it really was so simple making that puddle, then I started trying to stack them dimes.

      For starters it should be preheat to 200 degrees then welded then bring temp down slowly after welding this help to stress relief metal... the gloves he's using tells me casing is locally heated, which also may twist case.... my to cents

      seriously, I've been trying to patch a 16 sided cage/frame that the customer busted a chunk out of and it went from 4 welds to 10 by the time new cracks stopped showing themselves/getting caused by the heat. and every single one of them even when I grind out halfway through the material before welding from that side (and sanding all surfaces around my V) I still get contamination/little dust particles floating to the surface.

    I have a go to guy like this for my welding fab needs. Fixed a CBR 1000 case cover so good you couldn’t tell on the inside it was punch through. Worth the money vs a factory Honda replacement. Even a like new wrecker price.

      I'm not an expert, but I think if you're welding hot enough it would fix that issue. I know what you're talking about to an extent in aeronautic engineering, the whole drilling cracks in airframes thing, but I just have a hunch they don't weld those because they need it stronger. I could be wrong though idk

    Главное не шлифовать этот шов и не пытаться наводить красоту иначе опять лопнуть может, а в сильно нагруженном месте тем более лопнет сошлифованный слой

    I worked for a tow company and the trucks had aluminum beds. I used a pink clear acid to clean the aluminum 1st, then welded up the cracks. Also drilled at the end of the crack.

      Это не самый страшный косяк, на конце каждой трещины нужно делать отверстие, чтобы при дальнейшей работе из под шва она не пошла дальше, ну и провар конечно лучше будет.

    nice job I didn't see you check the face for being square where it bolts to the engine I'm sure it was straight and not bent the flange is very strong

    That is thr cleanest transmission case Ive ever seen...everytime I have repaired a aluminum transmission case it came in oily and even still had fluid inside of it..I would spend more time cleaning it than I did welding on it.

    Congrats! weld looks good. That cast aluminum can be real junk to weld sometimes. Hopefully the next stop was over to the machine shop to resurface the block face. Gauranteed that isnt flat anymore

    He forgot the first rull of crack repair. He needed to drill a hole at the end of all the cracks so they don't come back.

      I cut the reliefs and dug it our with the bur. And hammered it. I'm pretty sure that aluminum will be fine. You'd here it pop and moaning and creaking if it was going to crack.

    That's better than some I see. You clear out material to ensure you get full penetrating weld that goes completely through. I've seen many not even bother and just weld over the crack.

      The ends of the crack are a stress riser as well. Clearing out the crack isn’t as important as rounding the sharp ends of them

    Дааа....там такого сильного (давление) ничего нет...это просто кожух сцепления...видимо что-то внутри открутилось и попала между кожухом и маховиком...а так красиво заделал..🔨💯👍
