Erling Haaland is working his way towards consecutive Golden Boot awards, with 19 Premier League goals to his name so far this season.
He seems to be in the right place at the right time to score the "easy" goals. How does he do it?

Not so much with Rüdiger 😅
That would also help a lot for helping his teammates score, defenders mark him, opens up space, allows for his teammates to come in and bang
Rudiger exists 😅
That Einstein Halaand is so cursed.
How do you feel of Roy Keane's comments? They have been wrongly described in the media. He said that Haaland is perfect at what you described in the video. However, as soon as he faces a defender as quick and strong as he is, he cannot do anything (as seen with Rüdiger) due to the lack of skills. Or, rather, inability to use his skills.
I rly get that feeling as Well...every time i Check the boxscore in big Matches He is Not in there... He is a crazy scorer but after that there is Not much to be Seen i Fell like... But i dont rly watch Premier League so i could be wrong
There's just no need for those skills in City's squad. They have excellent ball carriers and passers all around. They're excellent at keeping the ball high and progressing it even without him. There's little need for general skills left in the line up and whenever he isn't playing someone who is supposed to create chances has to step up and fill the attacking gap like Foden. Haaland is good if they want to go long, but they need that in like 3 games a season. What he's best at besides finishing is keeping two people tightly to him at all times that can't get involved in anything around him inside the box and attacking midfield. He's taking two players out for the price of one. The better he does in a season, the harder he's marked later and the more his attacking midfielders get to score because of it. It's just that teams in the prem take forever to adapt, so it appears as if City needed to create chances only for him and now he's worse. Haaland isn't moving away from center to make space necessarily to then run into it himself. He will, if he can. It's for his teammates to come in and either shoot, or free him from a CB.
That comment was disingenuous & lacks nuances in the way City plays. Positional play is not suitable for him. If he were in the Liverpool squad or RM, he'd be superb - he won't have to navigate tight spaces & and be marked by 2 - 3 players. He wasn't signed for ball retention. If you started to watch with City, that's were the problem start. Watch him before the City move.
Its pretty simple though isnt it? The debate after the transfer was completed was how many goals could erling score for city but everyone had a pretty simple idea of at least 30. City does the work for him, that's not how they played with Aguero or when Foden and Sterling swapped in and out of false 9 positions. It's honestly a detriment to City. Pep didn't really decide he was going to fully change the system for Haaland until last year in January and once he did that they won like 17 matches in a row. But now it isn't working anymore, because other teams adapted and got better and the reality is Haaland is limited severely by his current ability on the ball vs striking and finishing
I don't think it's due to the lack of skills. Back 4, esp CBs, will be all over haaland in the box, which makes it difficult for him and crowds his space. Since that occurs, space is open for players like de bruyne, Alvarez foden etc. why try to score in a difficult fashion with haalands situation, when u have available options elsewhere? City don't need to rely heavily on him like teams with a single dominant striker. Liverpool become like this with Salah at times. Match against united was a great example (I know Salah isnt a striker lol but same thing, just on the wing)
Him blasting off like a rocket is crazy
It's also to do with vision. He gets into the defenders blind spots, all good attacking players do. A good example would be Szabozlai or however you spell his name against Casemiro in the Man United 2-2 Liverpool. He was constantly moving around Casemiro so that he could slip out of the vision of him.
Defenders have to focus on the play around them and marking their man at the same time. This gives the opportunity to smart players to break free off their man. They watch the defender's eyes and wait for them to look away for a second so that they can move into open space so that by the time the defender looks back they won't be there anymore and by the time the defender locates them again the ball will already be in the back of the net.
Rudiger asking "who's Erling Haaland?"
Rudiger looooves him 😅😅
Lmao rudiger fell in the trap he follows haaland everywhere resulting space for haaland's teammates
@imadmebarki8832 Using Haaland as a decoy to free up space & man-mark is a good tactic. Yes, he doesn't score, but 2 - 3 players are marking him.

I agree to an extent with almost everyone for and against the narrative of Haaland's all-round play.
But I've a totally different approach to this issue.
Haaland is not your typical striker, he's the best, out&out striker we've seen in football, in a long time.
Could it just be, that, teams shaped up with Pep-like approaches don't know how best to fully use strikers of his profile.
We've always been used to strikers that MUST add something to their game, then we call them phenomenal & elite; but out & out strikers do not get such praises.
So I dare us to mention 10 successful out & out strikers in the last 20 years.
Emphasis on the words - successful & out-out.
Ummm. Lewandowski?
@@tonmoybaidya2743 Lol 😂 🤣 Lewandowski is not an out & out striker.
Klopp bought him as a 9 and told him to play CAM ie 10, more seasons later, he took on more Inside Forward roles; Klopp admitted it was to build his all-round play which we can see traces of after BVB, in Bayern & now Barca.
So again, the question is, what do you do with a pure, effective, out & out striker?
Why does he have to change for you, why can't you change for him?
The solution to this problem is the coaching dilemma.
Haaland is a culture shock, that's it.
Pep would like to face an opponent that press high and try to fight for possession.. But no, even real madrid and arsenal are parking the bus against man city. Denying the space to run in behind (which is haaland greatest strength). That is why vs liverpool is so great to watch..
Haaland would score more goals at liverpool, simply because enemy teams dont park the bus. Even if haaland plays for man united he'd score more goals, if you think of it.
Now show us how how Gabriel put him in his pocket
This works until Rudiger plays
Taping Tapland

Rudiger 👹
Went missing again after madrid. He is contrary to popular belief easier to contain.
one could argue that foden scored partly because of the free space created by haaland tho.
@@priyamtarafder8122 creating free space is the least a teamate can do for another teammate. I dont think that should be even a topic of discussion.
Teams double up on him. Plays right into city’s hands. We scored 3 goals from outside the box yesterday that wasn’t a coincidence
@@DanteJ1s so you are saying iam right. Basically. Haaland is a glorified paper weight. Iam not saying he is overrated, but he should not be compared to mbappe instead it shpuld be a player like foden.
@@fugaziishime not really. I think teams simply don’t put the effort into marking players as much as Haaland because he only needs one chance. But people should’ve never compared him to mbappe just trying to force another Messi Ronaldo debate. Mbappes closest comparison (play style wise) is rashford
Alvarez is better suited for city the sooner pep notices the better for him

Since when he is doing that this season? Every good defender has him in their pocket. You can say other players of mancity getting benefit from teams man marking him at most.

Haaland isn't a top class striker this season, especially in big games. He was absolutely nowhere against Rudiger, didn't hear his name once that game
WHERE was bellingham
and u dont know what ur talking about if it wasnt for halland we wouldnt hvae been 3-3 draw the way he attracts defenders towards him and creating space is exact tactic of man city
Another quarter final he didn't score like last year he doesn't score in the important games plus this season is bad compare to Last season but hopefully hes scores next leg
Last year he had like 2 goals and 1 assist in the quarters against bayern. At least know what you're talking about.
Not unless if the defender is rudiger
Did he tell you this? 🤔
wrong. he's movement is atrocious. he scores goals because man city create ridiculous number of chances and they seek him out.
haaland has huge weaknesses in his game. poor in air, poor holding ball up, poor winning long balls, poor passing, poor movement, poor positioning etc.
He is good at one thing, driving towards goal with the ball at his feet with lots of space in front of him.
Something he isn't getting anymore.
His movement is actually one of the worst of a striker i have seen in ages. Its why he is nowhere to be seen in the game, completely AWOL for entire 90mins. You'd think he wasn't on the pitch, with barely any touches.
This is a mark of a player who has no clue where to move and when, and the game as a result gets played around him..
All he wants to do is poach goals whilst goal hanging. Not good enough in the modern game.
Yeah, he's atrocious. He's so terrible. He only scored 36 goals in 33 games. He was only integral to a poor treble winning side which achieved nothing because he's terrible. He only did things that players like Aguero (whom Haaland critics LOVE) couldn't come close to. He doesn't know how to position himself which is why he only scores the single type of goal that requires the most sense of positioning out of any goal. Yeah, you're right. Pep should be fired for thinking he was good wnoigh for city. He clearly makes them worse.
