- What’s the best way to make a request in English? You might say: “Give it to me!” or more politely, you might ask “if it’s no trouble, would you mind giving it to me?”
Figuring out which is best can be tricky, so watch this ESL English lesson on making requests to learn how to make requests and when they should be polite or not. Along the way, you’ll learn some very useful and polite ways to ask people to do things for you.

Love seeing you all together! ❤
Oh, Jennifer. So nice to hear from you. Working with Tom and Yana is such a pleasure. Their expertise and creativity is a wonder and a great pleasure for me to tap into and develop. Be well - Jay
Jay, Tom, and Yana, you guys are a wonderful team. This lesson was super funny and very interesting. THANK YOU SO MUCH for working hard and being creative. It is easy to learn like this. By the way, I miss Mrs. Vicki. I´m pretty sure she would be more than happy to see this tremendous job. Thank you! Greets from Nicaragua, Central America.
Everlasting, we are so pleased you liked this video. And yes, Vicki´s style remains our guide as we look to build more lessons with humour and real tips on how to improve your English level. Take good care, and thanks for watching. - Jay
1. Could you make another video lesson next month?
2. Would you mind making another video soon?
3. If you could make a video next week, that would be fantastic.
4. If it’s no trouble, could you give us another lesson after one month?
5. I’d be most grateful if you could teach us again soon.
6. Would you kindly make us a lesson one week later?
7. Please come back soon if that’s ok with you/if you don’t mind.
Hi Mollie. Good to hear from you as always. Lots more videos are in the works :-)
I love Jay!!! And warmest hello to Tom and Yana! I can see Vicki through Tom's smile. Thank you for keeping this fantastic channel going on. 💛💛💛
Thanh Le, your words of encouragement mean so much to us. Thanks for watching. There are lots more videos coming. - Jay
Delighted to see Jay back and meet the new team. Keep up this beautiful work!
Marilena, we´re delighted you´ve watched the first of our new video series. More are on the way. Take good care. - Jay
Missing Vicky! God bless her soul
She was all heart ❤
Rest in peace 🌷🌼🌻🌺🥀🌹
Greetings from Casablanca Morocco.
Thanks for your kind words, Michael.
Hello, Jay, Tom and Yana, Love to see you back with new videos. You are hilarious as usual, as if Vicki is still with us today💝
--- For the "robbery question", I have chosen A. However, the reason why I have chosen A is different from yours. My reason is that Jay is a robber 👉and robbers just give orders with "infinitive without to", like "Put the money in the bag".
--- For alternative E - Is it correct if I say "I´d be much obliged if you would put the money in the bag." or "I´d appreciate it if you would put the money in the bag". Is it also correct if I use "could" instead of "would" in both sentences?
I look forward to your reply.
Have a nice evening in Spain. (Are you located in Spain now?)
Best Wishes from Stockholm🙂
Elin, the answer is YES to all your questions. Thanks for watching and we´re so pleased you enjoyed this video. Take good care. - Jay.

I don't know how, but YT didn't feed me the last 20 or so videos of yours.
Nowy, we hadn´t published in quite awhile. First, Vicki and I moved to Spain and we had to shut down our studio until we completed the journey. Then, sadly, Vicki passed away in December. But her son Tom, his wife Yana (both English teachers, and I are continung Vicki´s work. There are now new videos on the channel and more are coming.
Vicki would be so proud of you!
Thank you, Cat.
Your back!
We are, Shaf. And there are lots more videos coming. - Jay

Lovely video!
The hard work put into the props, content, dialogue, costumes, script, etc. was excellent!
Now I know in what situations to be polite and in what degree!
Thanks a lot!
Hi Aryan. Thank you so much for you encouraging words. We're working on lots more videos. Thanks for writing to us. - Jay
But I really want to know why Vicky wasn't there
I love you but I miss her too❤
She passed away on December last year!
Yes, Nada. We lost Vicki in December. There's a memorial tribute to her on the channel you may want to watch. And this video on asking questions, and a companion video on responding to requests are just the beginning of the family's effort to make sure we honor Vicki's life's work teaching English to learners around the world. - Jay.
So lovely to see you working with Tom and Yana. What a great video! Thank you so much. As always a great way to practice grammar that otherwise can seem boring and irrelevant to language learners!
Hi Susan. We are enjoying the process of putting new videos together and we really appreciate your thoughtful comment. Take care and thanks for watching. - Jay.

You are most welcome, Lisa.
Thank you ❤❤❤
You are most welcome, Robert.
Haha love it! Adding more words may sound toooo slow too - I mean, to ask for something. Sometimes it's better to be more direct (or slightly direct) and get what you need. :) So good to see that Jay is back! And welcome to Tom and Yana. Thank you for this incredible channel ❤
Renatacagliari, we are thrilled to be back and we are so pleased you liked this video. Thanks for letting us know. - Jay

Thanks!
You are most welcome, Gema.
Great job, team! Very professionally presented and not too heavy. Just the right mix of humour and information. Vicky would be so proud. I've shared it on my platforms and I'm eagerly awaiting the next one. Andy loved it, too!
Craig, so great to hear from you and Andy. We certainly enjoyed putting this one together, and its companion lesson, Responding to Requess. We're working on lots more and we agree, that this is a really proper way to honor Vicki's lifetime of work in the field of English Language training.
I was laughing and learning at the same time, totally enjoyed the video... Thanks!!!
you guys make a wonderful team !!
ReN Ro, your words are so encouraging. We really appreciate it. More videos are in the works. - Jay
We have been waiting for this video! And the bank robbing concept is so funny😂😂
wozshichae, we're so glad you enjoyed it. The bank robber is a character we'll bring back again, I'm sure, if he can help us make a langauge point with humour. Take good care - Jay
Very clear and useful video, thank you.
However, the choice of different way to say the same thing is not simple at all.
Nicolas, may I suggest you practice the responses that you like, that way they´ll be right at hand when you need them. Thanks for watching. - Jay
I was so pleased to see you again.Where is Vicki?
Unfortunately, she passed away last December 😢😢😭
@@IoT_ 4:01 😭😭😭
No way 😭😭😭I can’t believe it.I am so sorry 😢
Matt, there´s a memorial to Vicki we published in January of this year. You might want to see that. Also, Vicki´s son, Tom, his wife Yana (both English teachers) and I are continuing Vicki´s work with new, funny and educational videos. We hope you get to see those. - Jay
