Hearing Alan Tudyk refer to Firefly as “the first season” of Firefly made me feel some feelings I wasn’t prepared to feel today
I was waiting for any line from firefly. But to be honest I thought it was going to be the leaf on the wind quote.
@@zSpirallThat's exactly what I was expecting, too.
@@zSpirall I was expecting, "I am a leaf on the wind. Watch how I--"
i was waiting for : "Im a leaf on the wind"
I thought of "curse your sudden, but inevitable betrayal!!"
... Also no Steve the Pirate :( "gyarghhh"
I haven't sat grinning at the screen like this...ever? Alan Tudyk is a national treasure.
Same. Dude's got charm few actors have.
That man deserves an Oscar he is way too underrated I’m hoping his voice pops up on season 2 of Andor
Alan Tudyk IS a national treasure.
I don't often watch ALL of these actor career recap videos, but I also sat and smiled the whole time.
Jesus, I’m glad to see this comment. I came here to say something similar. Ever since I saw him as Wash in Firefly back in the day, I’ve had a lot of love for this man.
The "i work for syfy i dont know" ive never heard a more honest answer to a tv question.
Sadly, that could be said of the Fox network, too.
_Many_ a good show aired on Fox, which got the axe, all because of poorly accumulated viewer metrics (curse you, Neilson Ratings!) that I don't feel ever properly conveyed actual viewer numbers.
I guess that's one other positive to the streaming era... cold, hard, indisputable numbers. So let there NEVER be another _Firefly_ type situation, *ever* again!
[/micro-rant] 😅
Heath Ledger was so universally loved by everyone he worked with, you can see Alan getting choked up even so long after his death.
I know 😔
Alan Tudyk is one of those guys who just shows up in *everything* and you don't know it's him until you see the credits because he's just that versatile.
For real! I had no idea that he voiced all those characters.
Does lots of robots. Sure he was danger boat on the tick as well
I had no idea he voiced Joker in Harley Quinn
I was today years old when I found out he was the robot in I-Robot
YUP
The amount of disappointment I have that Tucker and Dale wasn't in here is immeasurable
Just be glad they didn't use his signature line from 42
Same! I wanted to hear him say, "College kids!" and "We've had a doozy of a day."😒
Me too. And no Steve the Pirate??
No Dodgeball or Death at a Funeral either :(
I was half expecting Hei Hei from Moana.
I've loved Tudyk since Firefly, but had no idea his voiceover work was so prolific.
Genuinely, me too!
When it's voiceover and you can't see him, I don't feel bad about not catching it, but I love Tudyk, I love knights tale, I had no idea until today that was him, and that's live action! It just speaks to how versatile he is as an actor!
Okay so this man is responsible for every happy memory I've ever had with film.
Also Alan Tudyk is Harry Vanderspeigle.
I was waiting for A Knight‘s Tale 🥹 what a sweet memory!!
“It’s called a laaaaaance! Helloooooo?!”
😂
@@PrincessMeggala0913I was hoping he would say that! But I guess it’s too easy!
Absolutely, smiled so big when he talked about the memory.
One of my favorites I wore that vhs tape out when I was younger lol
"Pain! Lots of pain! "
i think Firefly changed all of our lives tbh.
thank you Alan for all that you do, you amazing man.
Yesssss!!! It made my heart so happy when he started being a guest on “The Rookie” back with captain Mal, it gives me the warm fuzzies 🥰
100% yes and 100% sadness that they didn't pick the line "I am a leaf on the wind, watch how I soar." 😭 shut up, I'm not crying, your crying! 😭
"Wait! Where's Wash?"
"He ain't comin'!"
😢😢😢😢😢
I knew this comment had to be somewhere...
but to see it that high up, rly warms my heart
@Miss_Camel Even tho he was 'season 1 Harry Vanderspeigle', in "The Rookie" xD
Which kinda made it even better, in my opinion xP
(I know it's not accurate, but it was my very first thought)
Absolutely!
I hope that the teacher that convinced him to stay in acting knows just how much of an impact they had. Alan Tudyk is one of, if not the, most talented actors I know. Who else can go from voicing a chicken to voicing the Joker and have it sound completely different? Most actors use their voice as a kind of calling card, kind of like Keith David, or David Spade. You may not be a main character in movies, but you’re a main character in our hearts, Alan.
I hope your friend who wanted to dance was able to find happiness, too
Beautiful words❤️ so true❤️
100%. When you go to a Samuel L Jackson movie you know what you're getting: it's a fun character but it's the same character every time. With Alan Tudyak you don't even realize that character you love was him until you see the credits!
Aw, I love Alan Tudyk. His career is far more prolific than I realized. An amazing talent.
Phenomenal actor, physical and voice. Ridiculously underrated, and he deserves so much recognition!
Facts.
true
Perhaps one can be too talented. I can never pick his voice characters until the credits because they are such a complete departure from each other. 👍👍
Agree 100%
Honestly, nah, because if everybody knew about him and how amazing he was they'd ruin it. Lmfao js. 😂😂😂
The reason Alan is so underrated is because his most memorable characters are just voices, so many people have no idea they love him.
In addition to that a lot of those voices are so different from each other, they don't even sound like him most of the time. Unless I know that it's him doing a characters voice beforehand I usually don't even realize it was him until I'm watching the credits.
Out of curiosity, I went to his Wiki page... and whoo boy 🤣🤣
A character name in a Web series called "TableTop":
Doctor McLickhertitty
His role in Dollhouse still gives me chills. He is so good and has such an incredible range! Seriously one of the most underrated actors of our time!!
For real! It was a good show but Alpha was just such a next level character, I was riveted every time he was on the screen.
" Carrots, medicinal carrots"
"I'm not bluffing! Well, I'm bluffing. But the rest of us!"
Tudyk is seriously one of my favorite actors. We need a Tucker and Dale vs Evil sequel.
The face he made when he realized it was a "Firefly" quote...❤❤❤
Like a leaf on the wind
🥺
His physical comedy in DEATH AT A FUNERAL should be studied. 15 years later and I remember him in that movie still. He’s so brilliant.
His “I look like a Muppet” line in the outtakes should have been left in. (Stares at Frank Oz’s general direction.)
1,000% agreed, that was a golden line. To be a fly on the wall and see Frank's face 😂
I don't know if I've ever seen anyone else in the wild who knew about that bit from the director's commentary!
Oh, no.... Please!!! What have you ddddoonneee??!!!!..... Now I have to think of that scene the whole day!!! 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂 😂
I laughed sooo much, I literally fell of the couch and could breathe !!!! 😂 😂 😂 😂
"Everything is so GREEN!"
I LOVE THAT FILM. I recently even bought the dvd from ebay just because I wanted to be able to rewatch it whenever I want
Alan, that show changed ALL of our lives.
The thing I adore about A Knight's Tale is you can see everyone is having an amazing time and not just in the show but in real life as well. Heath's smile, as he enjoys every minute of it is so genuine.
This is true but the supportive cast was amazing! I just remember being so annoyed when they'd cut away to the Jocelyn scenes 🙄 (could she have been more wooden??)
I loathed anachronism is historically set movies until that movie.
@@pampire13 I think it is because for most historical films any anachronisms are essentially because of the laziness of the filmmakers. On the DVD the Director in the commentary made the point that the anachronisms in A Knight's Tale actually serve an artistic purpose. The best example is the banquet scene where they are learning the dance. Medieval music to our modern ears sounds somewhat simple and, for lack of a better term, sedate. To medieval ears that music was "modern music". So the dance scene starts with pure medieval music and over the course of the dance David Bowie is slowly mixed in to the music. By the end of the scene they are dancing to David Bowie at full levels.
@@susie9893In fairness to the actress who played Jocelyn, that was literally her first acting job. She was a DJ in LA and met the producer at a party she worked. The rest as they say, is history 😂
I love how his body language changes with his voices.
The mark of a true genius
Watch robin Williams doing voices. Alan tudyk probably idolized him like many others
Because he’s a great actor
Hearing how he figures out voices is a little masterclass in itself wow
YESSSSSSS
I mean, andy serkis said once that "gollum! Gollum!" was inspired by his cat throwing up a hairball.
Everybody has tricks
He's so talented and versatile. The amount of things I've loved him in and not even realized it was him.
How did i not realize he was The Joker?!
Alan Tudyk is incredible
Well...
BECAUSE he's incredible !
You hear his character and not him
The memes about him at the time taking a sabbatical from Doom Patrol 😂
I will watch anything with Alan Tudyk in it.
Truth
Yup
Did you watch powerless? It was a short lived TV series starring tudyk as Bruce Wayne's cousin who worked for Wayne enterprises as a subsidiary company that designed equipment for everyday citizens to deal with the destruction left in the wake of superhero battles, like a joker antitoxin or a rubble umbrella which stops rubble from crushing you. It was a funny show. Ron Funches was in it, too.
@jkap34 thank you for the recommendation! I adore Ron Funchess!
Only downside is it might be hard to find. I don't think it's streaming anywhere
Alan is the reason both Serenity and Rogue One were great.
Alan's character in Rogue One is the only post-Return of the Jedi star wars character I care about.
This just makes me realise how many characters I know that I didn't know were played by Alan Tudyk
Criminally underrated. Absolute treasure of a character creator
I really hope syfy brings back resident alien for season 4 I love that show. I love how his "ha-Ha" is his real laugh I thought it was a laugh he made up for the character lol
They will!

He was AWESOME in Dodgeball....Pirate Guy🤣🤣🤣🤣🤌🏾🤌🏾
I still love the car wash scene "we only have that creepy old guy paying Justin to wash his rims"
"Yeah... get in there nice and deep like" *fingers belly button*
I get absolutely nothing but good vibes from Alan. I've been binge watching Resident Alien on Netflix and I'm having fun watching. I really hope they do a season 4.
I used to think Alan Tudyk was this obscure actor I liked and then I woke up one day and he had this insanely prolific career 😂
Hearing him whip out all these voices is just nuts, and I’m so glad to see him still thriving! ❤❤❤
I feel that way about Jason Mamoa too. One minute he's this small time actor on Stargate Atlantis and then it feels like he's blown up and suddenly a household name.
Thank you Alan’s teacher for encouraging him so we get to experience his acting.
That teacher knew their shit
Great line choice for firefly. I guess they knew if they went with “I am a leaf on the wind watch how I soar” the whole comments section would be crying.
But that would've been Serenity instead of Firefly. So they could've 😀
My all time favourite line in Firefly is when Wash is comforting Kaylee in the wh**e house and he says “Were I unwed, I would take you in a manly fashion” 😅
@@izazabelWash being a supportive friend 😊
@@izazabel this is my favorite non-leaf-on-the-wind Wash line from either the series or movie. What an oddly sweet thing, said in a hilariously inappropriate manner, yet in the exact right way for the recipient to be comforted by it
@@izazabel because I’m pretty? Yes because you’re pretty.
Alan is iconic in every one of his roles. That man is a legendary creator!
We all owe that teacher a huge debt of gratitude.
That "taint" line killed me while watching Resident Alien.
He had so many outrageous one-liners.
I have that clip saved
@@corrynnewlan6418 that would make for a funny ring tone for your significant other. 🤣
This is some bullshit!
@@KatieSalleythis is probably one of the lines from this show my husband and I quote the most 🤣
It's great to know the creators appreciate him enough to let him ablib like that. I was so happy when I heard him discussing this series (while it was still in production he did a talk with Fillion). I remember thinking how relieved I was that hopefully he was starting to be valued for how great he is
"Oh hi-de-ho officer, we've had a doozy of a day"
"Garrr"
Tucker and dale vs evil is my comedy comfort movie 😂
I love him in the British version of Death at a Funeral- he is so funny. Resident Alien is the best show- we are loving it.
His voiceover for King Candy completely threw me when I first saw Wreck-it Ralph. It was such a spot on version of Ed Wynn and when I found out it was Alan, it blew me away. Such an amazing actor and so glad that people are starting to see him!
You should hear him voicing different characters from 'Star vs the Forces of Evil' the man is brilliant.
I thought so too! I was like...surely that dude is not still alive...but it was so spot on, I jept having doubts. Lol
There's not a thing I'm happier doing than watching Alan Tudyk do anything.
One of my very favorite actors of all time. He delivers in every single performance, in every single project.
he's been in so much more than i realized. dude's a stud.
Still not over losing Wash. Such a talented dude; if he’s in it, I’ll watch it.
He was a leaf on the wind.
@@BradyPostma, I have never been that broken hearted by a movie... *sniff, sniff
@@PepperDog76 - Well, don't watch _Grave of the Fireflies,_ then
I hated that Wash died. But it's not the most heartbreaking thing I've seen in a movie.

Duke Weselton and Duke from Weaseltown is still my favorite in-joke between Frozen and Zootopia
also, a little sad we didnt get a Steve the Pirate line from Dodgeball
This guy is a legend. Always delivers so much to the story in all his work.
Both seasons of Con Man are laugh out loud hilarious, well worth navigating the weirdness of the streaming services they are on. So many amazing cameos, really sweet love letter to cons, and the comedy is such a good time
I just started watching it! It is so good!!!
Alan did way more than I thought. Well done, sir.
I didn't realize how many credits he had. My parents still know him as the Pirate from Dodgeball.
There's a pirate in that movie?! 🤣 "Wait, there's a guy on our team that dresses like a pirate?" I love that movie! I was hoping it would be included, but this was still a great video!
Meeting Alan once was a highlight in my life. He really is just this great.
Anytime he shows up in anything, it makes me happy.
A leaf on the wind
I'm always pointing out to my wife all of the Alan Tudyk characters in my favorite movies. She MUST be sick of hearing "That's Wash from Firefly!"
Not if she has good taste 😂
I do that with my adult kids. "OH MY GOSH, do you know who that is??" "Is it Alan Tudyk? 😑" "IT'S ALAN TUDYK!"
I love it when I fall in love with a character (he does such a good job of making them different) and sometimes it takes a beat for me to remember him as Wash (who will be near and dear to my heart forever).
I'm the same with my fiance, I point out Alan excitedly, and he just nods and smiles, confused, but he knows better than to ask questions 😂
These are the best comments I’ve seen, Alan Tudyk is a treasure.
He was amazing in Firefly. That show is a masterpiece.
Even if Alan Tudyk were LITERALLY cast as every role in every single thing encompassed within the business of show in perpetuity going forward from now, I would still think Hollywood could be making better use of this man's talent.
Guess i never knew how many voice roles alan tudyk did. Kudos to him for being able to keep it fresh for every role.
I love Alan Tudyk and I will treasure the memory he tells about Heath Ledger for ever. Thank you so much Alan !!!!
almost made me cry!
Alan Tudyk was phenomenal in A Knight's Tale. When I saw him in Firefly I was quite impressed at how good his American accent was, and was shocked when I learned the truth. "...pain, lots of pain" is still one of my favourite delivered lines.
I had same reaction when I learned he wasn't a Brit, but at least I'd made that assumption from seeing him a British film (Death At A Funeral)
I can't believe they got Alan tudyk to voice this interview I love that guy.
Alan Tudyk seems like such a delightful person
Alan Tudyk is amazing, really good in Resident Alien
“I’m a leaf on the wind watch how I soar” from Serenity is one of my favorite lines in movies and also A Knight´s Tale is a fave. 👍
Will not spoil it for those who haven't watched Serenity, but I saw no point in what happened after that line. Saw no point to the story at all. (you have to watch if you are curious and do not assume based on my ambiguous comment what the next scene was, you might just be wrong)
I'm both mad and appreciative that they didn't do "I'm a leaf in the wind" for Wash. That show will always have a special place in my heart. Blows my mind how many times this guy is in things and I only realize when I get to the credits.
He may have specified they were not to use that line.
OR they may have decided that would be too contentious
"It was the first season..."
It was the only season, damn it! It was the only one. 😭😭😭
I never realized that Alan did so many voice overs. No mater what I have seen him in, I have thoroughly enjoyed every role. No mater how good (or bad) the show/movie was, he has made at least his part of it better. The list of actors that you can say that about is extremely small. Alan truly does not get the industry recognition that he deserves.
The opening scene from Firefly, where he's playing with plastic dinosaurs... that is the scene that put him on my radar and led to him becoming one of my favorite comedic actors ever. I'm glad it had a positive effect on his life, because he earned it with that role.
Technically that's not the opening scene. It's the scene that really kicks it off but there was that whole background battle scene (that I found confusing af coming into it blind from Angel and Buffy)
Realizing that I've seen him in so many movies without even noticing because of his amazing range.
People REALLY need to check out Resident Alien. Such a great funny and original show!!! Alan Tudyk is such an underrated actor!!! He should be a household name!
What amusing anecdotes! I love it when actors tell us stories we'd never hear anywhere else.
Firefly changed my life too, Alan.
A far better thing to have Firefly for but a season, than to never have had it at all.
This man is such an underrated genius.
I love him so much. My car is named Hoban after his character Wash in Firefly. I have a t-shirt with the other famous quote "Curse your sudden but inevitable betrayal." Alan, never change! So glad your teacher and your friend convinced you to stick with acting.
Awww i love so much that you named your car that! I have a tshirt with that line, and a couple little dinosaur charms on my keychain in its honor. ❤
I have the sticker on my computer. It was one of the best character intros I've ever seen, a guy playing with plastic dinos while sitting at the controls of a spaceship? Yep, this is a character I'll like.

So many of his characters sound so similar but incredibly different at the same time. He really does an awesome job with all his roles
I knew a few of these voice overs were him, but some of them surprised me. The man's got range! I have a pretty good ear for recognizing voice over actors, but he is a chameleon.
For whatever reason it always scrambles my brain that he was Sonny. I think maybe because I wasn't fully aware of who Alan was when first watching that movie. And he does Ed Wynn SO well, that's exactly who I thought of when I first heard King Candy speak.
Love Alan Tudyk! What about Death at a Funeral. One of those comedy performances where you laugh so hard you feel sick. Brilliant. And such a joy to hear him talk about Firefly 💚
i could watch hours of alan just doing this. such a great actor.
Alan Tudyk deserves to be a household name, better than a lot of A-List celebrities! One of my favorite actors after stumbling into Serenity back in the day
I love him, he just makes me happy. Some of these I didn't realize he had voiced and now I love him more. I wish they had Simon from Death at a Funeral, Alpha from Dollhouse, Tucker form Dale & Tucker vs. Evil and Mr. Nobody from Doom Patrol
Thank you for mentioning alpha! If no one else had I was going to because he was brilliant in dollhouse
And Van Wayne from "Powerless." I didn't expect any quotes from "Powerless," but I was hoping...
Yes, I couldn't believe they repeated some characters but left out some of his best characters
you could write a book with the one-liners Wash from Firefly has. "I wasn't just playing with my dinosaurs," is one of my favourites 😊
Alan is still one of my favorite people and actors. His reverence when talking on Firefly hits home so hard
I just finished season 2 of Resident Alien and I would watch it all over again! I've always been a huge fan of Alan Tudyk's, but that show really shows off his talent as an actor. Everything about Harry is so well-played!

Wow! I'm so jealous. Which character did he play in Prelude To A Kiss?
@@susie9893 He played Peter Hoskins

I thought you were going to say he played the old man. I could easily see that
@@susie9893 This was also in 2007, if that helps
@@Wreaknatter not really, no. I was thinking in terms of his skill set. I was picturing him wearing a wrinkled prosthesis and all that.
Apart from the whole 'running off to live in Sweden thing', Peter always struck me as a very 'normal' character (not the sort of thing Alan usually plays).
Still, being Alan, I'm assuming he did it very well
The greatest line he has ever said is "officer, we've had a doozy of a day. There we were minding our own business, just doing chores around the house, when kids started killing themselves all over my property."
I was eagerly awaiting A Knight’s Tale and surprised that there was no Dodgeball!!

I remover him well from A Knight's Tale, but I gotta admit, I didn't even know he did so much voice acting for animation, and motion capture. This was one of the best of these videos yet. Even to the way he committed to changing the cards. Amazing guy.
His voice acting is so fun to listen to! What a great talent.
