i noticed if the wood is wet or cutting with the grain or something is not straight like your cut or the board is warped . also low battery. otherwise dont know.
I have a Ryobi saw and realised that it doesn’t have enough power compared to a friend’s Makita. If I free hand cut, the blade almost certainly binds. My thinking is that free hand cuts are not as straight and the moment there is any binding, the blade will catch and stop. Does that make sense? I get around this by making sure I use a guide to cut as straight as I can and taking a few cuts by taking out 10mm at a time or something like that with the depth adjustment. Hope that helps.
Indeed, a dull blade (even more a DESTROYED one! lol) is hazardous. Those Diablo blades sure are the standard and a great buy to boot. Good lesson and guidance, Jeff!
this is happening with mine on a brand new saw and blade (same RYOBI and Diablo blade) when cutting 2x6's. Super frustrating because the stock blade did it, and so does the new one with all teeth.
Just got a new Black and Decker 20v circular saw. It started binding on the first cut. The battery was fully charged and it came with a new blade. So I tried reinserting the blade and it worked. Thanks for your help!
Dang haha what the heck did you cut to lose all those teeth😂?!? Well you definitely got your money out of that old blade. Those diablo blades are real nice.
Missing teeth? Don't go to the dentist! Go to the hardware store and get a new blade! Haha.. dude, thanks for a great vid. I'm new to the realm of circular saws (and hand tools in general)... Easy step by step, relaxed explanations, thank you!
maybe the saw has good bad. wet wood? hard dry wood? cutting with the grain? angled as you cut? wrong type of blade? going to fast to start. start the saw before it touches the wood then slowly cut. good luck
@@ArizonaHotHomestead this is also my problem. i have to ryobi 7 1/4 circular saw. i am using foam insulation board to cut on. i am using the Kreg Jig Accu-Cut. I have to Diablo 40 teeth blade. brand new. 5 ah battery fully charged. butttttt when my saw touches the wood, it stops. i let it get to full speed but the instant i touch the wood, the blade stops. i don't know if it's my weight distribution or technique. i am a beginner. i don't think the blade is being pinched. this was my first try ever. the first cut started off buttery smooth for 2 inches then the blade stopped. i looked on the other side of the plywood and it hadn't cut all the way through. so the depth isn't set too much, it was actually set too little. but now my blade has stopped cutting the wood at all. it just stops everytime it touches the wood. please help.
Thank you for the tip. And I figured out why it would stop as soon as I touch the food. I had changed the blade again to my diablo 40t and I realized that I had the washer backwards on the bolt. Dumb me. Thank you. Now it's cutting again perfectly
Or maybe it could be something else. I believe I could take your brand new blade and in a very short time and without destroying it or damaging it to the casual inspection make it about as useless as your old blade. The suttle difference would be to eliminate the KERF. A blade with all it's teeth absent it's Kerf is useless for cutting. Ask anybody that is into saw sharpening and they will concur. I learned this the hard way and after a lot of struggling with a specialized tool I had. Put the Kerf back in and it cut like new. Those wide teeth on the tips is actually the Kerf. So you had your finger on the fix but they may not really be wider but just look like it. A tool to set the Kerf has nothing to do with the actual sharpening of the blade. On the other hand I could be wrong but not likely. Happy cutting Jeff.....
My skillsaw is heating up right at the center. The bolt that holds the blade becomes so hot that it produces smoke after a few minutes of running the circular saw. However, this does not happen when I run the saw without the blade. The blade is not too old. I am thinking of trying another blade to see what happens. This problem started after I used the saw to cut 5-6 concrete pavers (with a diamond blade). I did clean up the saw well and don't see any debris from that use. Do you have any idea why this might be happening?
OMG thank you so much! I was so frustrated. Now i realized I've had this exact same saw for years and I've never changed the blade. No wonder its binding, I'm hitting Home Depot today!
Time for a skil Saw riddle 5&1/2" & 18 tooth it's 45 did you hear it and get saved from bondage of the enemy. The Diablo definitely wants to saw us off from The Lord and life.
@@ArizonaHotHomestead I had some Ryobi tools there alright for how cheap they are compared to other tools. My Milwaukee 6 and half circular saw just burned out too after having for only like a year barely using it
Thanks for the video. My corded Milwaukee is slowing up on my halfway through a cut. I'll have to check my teeth. I thought it was maybe in need of new brushes for the motor.
My brand new Ryobi would not cut melted butter right out of the box. The blade it came with felt sharp but couldn’t cut anything. I’m changing the blade now.
my blade has one tooth broken, will that makes a difference? or do I need to replace the blade? it's not cutting good and it makes smoke I notice that the blade is very dirty it has a lot of brownish on both sides, could that be the problem or that missing tooth?
thanks for your video. i just got a brand new black and decker circular saw from a place that is going out of business. no option to return it. the lock in the spindle keeps tightening itself as soon as the saw is operated, making it completely inoperable. any suggestions? your help would be greatly appreciated! thanks in advance.
I have brand new blades and still binding
Same problem! So frustrating

Same to new blade nut still binding
Same. New battery, new blade. Double checked that it's installed correctly but still binding

thanks.
You're exactly right, those Diablo blades are the standard. You can usually get a two pack for $10-$13.
this is happening with mine on a brand new saw and blade (same RYOBI and Diablo blade) when cutting 2x6's. Super frustrating because the stock blade did it, and so does the new one with all teeth.
update: I was going too quick and not letting the saw get to full speed before cutting.
also i noticed the battery might be low, wet wood, not cutting straight, board warped or cutting with the grain. . slow is best.

I keep an old blade handy as a demolition blade so I don't mess up the sharp ones.
also maybe i could do some weird art work out of it. lol
Instead of checking the teeth just look for or smell the burning wood! LOL BTW Diablo blades are junk but cheap.
lol for a while i thought it was a cheap ryobi saw. lol
If diablo blades suck then which doesn’t
Wowzer Jeff. You got your money's worth out of that old blade.
i sure did. lol
Its not the blade.. i have the same blade on mine. Brand new.. still stalling... absolute shit saw. Its going back to HOME depot.
i guess it is possible you got a lemon.
Changed blade, still binding, blade won't let saw move forward, SMOKE!
if while cutting might be cutting with the grain or wood is to wet or dry like a hard wood. otherwise no idea unless its the saw itself.

@@ArizonaHotHomestead thankfully it's fixed. The washer behind the blade was installed the wrong way. My bad
Mine is brand new and it's still doing that. It did my first cut and I have no idea what's wrong.
it might be the type of wood hard, wet, or maybe cutting with the grain or maybe ????
OMG thank you so much! I was so frustrated. Now i realized I've had this exact same saw for years and I've never changed the blade. No wonder its binding, I'm hitting Home Depot today!
funny its such a simple thing we dont think about. lol
could this be the problem on my miter saw??? kinda sounds like it i will check
good luck.
Super helpful. Thank you for both the help with why my Ryobi circular saw is binding but also the walkthrough of what to look out for.
sweet. now get cutting away. lol
Don’t go to the dentist. Go to the hardware store. That’s funny bro 😂
lol thanks for watching and have a great day
Fuck me after all that you say “ buy a new blade’ great tip mate.
lol any time

didnt get it.
I smoked my circular saw by using a dull blade lol
lol sorry that happen to you.
The problem is that it's a ryobi tool lol jk but they are really cheap shitty tools in my opinion
i am ok with cheap .lol so far i have burned up 1 5 1/2 circular saw and the rest are doing great.

My blade still looks perfect. Battery fully charged. Still binds every time. Any suggestions?
no. maybe hard dry wood, cutting with the grain, wet wood. or motor giving out.
You can use the old blades for cutting metal if you put them backwards
interesting. no teeth? i might have to try.
roy Eagle really??
Thanks for the video. My corded Milwaukee is slowing up on my halfway through a cut. I'll have to check my teeth. I thought it was maybe in need of new brushes for the motor.
slowing i would assume motor or battery if having trouble cutting the teeth need sharpening or new chain.
My brand new Ryobi would not cut melted butter right out of the box. The blade it came with felt sharp but couldn’t cut anything. I’m changing the blade now.
interesting it would cut. maybe put on backwards? maybe the wood was to wet or hard dry wood? .. good luck. did changing the blade work?
So looking forward to seeing what you do with that new blade and how you enclose the deck. Great info. Keep on doing what you love!
awesome. i have wood being delivered in june.
Perfect. Solved it! Teeth was the answer, saved my arm! ;)
nice. such a simple solution . lol
Thank!! I have similar problem with a new saw. Quality saw? Having my doubts!
i guess it could also be the motor but when missing teeth it doesnt cut well and does start binding.
Thanks for this! I thought the blade that came on the new saw should have lasted longer. I was wrong. lol New blade time. You rock!
gee thanks. have a great day
my blade has one tooth broken, will that makes a difference? or do I need to replace the blade? it's not cutting good and it makes smoke I notice that the blade is very dirty it has a lot of brownish on both sides, could that be the problem or that missing tooth?
maybe combo the tooth and the stuff on the blade is binding with the wood putting extra friction on the blade/motor.
thank you soooooooooooooo much!!!!!!!
awesome. have a great day
OMG, that's prob my problem! Mine is a Skil, but going to check out the blade. Hope that fixes it! THANKS!!!!
awesome. i hope thats what it was. easy fix.
Its the ryobi bro. Get a real power saw, vast difference.
lol that ryobi saw has been perfect . as long as it does the job i dont care if its a toy or a real power saw. lol.
Didn't fix mine
sorry about that.
Cheers Jeff, looks like I need a new blade!
lol i guess the blades wear out after awhile. who knew? lol

dont know. maybe there is a set screw that came out.
@@ArizonaHotHomestead thank you. I'll look into this
I had 2 of the same saw, I find the blade doesn’t run square to the base plate. Any idea how to tune this?
maybe your guide is loose or off a little.
Thank you😅
your welcome. have a great day
cuts like butter now =)
lol
A trick : you can watch series on Flixzone. I've been using it for watching a lot of movies recently.

Very helpful, I've been having the same problem, you may have given me the solution! Thank you so much.
nice. hope it helps.
Is that theRyobi 504g? Does it cut pressure treated 2x4?
why yes it is. with a good glade it does cut the pressure treated lumber easy.
Great tip Jeff
