    The best part of this is, you let the vehicle do its job. Instead of smash and bash. Or inch until you get resistance and cry.. I am stuck and give up. You waited for it to figure it out and it proved to do what it is capable of. Nice. Need more people to follow this example. This is how I run my 4Runner. It has a smart system as well and it will walk through the same territory in the same manner. :)

    • @AWDfreak
      @AWDfreak 4 года назад

      That's one thing a lot of those who stick to the older methods don't quite get. Newer vehicles with brake-based traction control require maintaining accelerator pedal position to let the vehicle figure out the situation then sort it out to overcome obstacles.

    Awesome driving. Your are a pro. You have hi lighted the vehicle’s capabilities more than any other stupid review done by folks who have not been off roading ever. Validates my decision to order one. You did it without the rear diff and showed us how a pro does it and with the rear diff, even mere mortals could handle hard trails in this machine.

    • @FlySR220

      Seems this video was edited a fair amount presumably to remove all the times it got stuck. Notice how the spotter asked the driver a few times "ready to try again?" meaning it's already had failed attempts. These guys are obviously getting paid to promote the new defender.
      If you want a true off roader you need the new bronco or rubicon. Much larger wheel arches for bigger tyres, far more articulation and the body panels will be far cheaper to replace when you need to. Not to mention the roof/doors are removable.

      @@isaactalontorres9237 Yep. But like I said, the Defender is available with a rear locker in addition to the center locker. With that, things would be a lot different. Not sure why these tests aren't being done with a rear locker. It's a better comparison. I've had a vehicle with front and rear lockers and, at times, the front locker was a problem with steering. I'd need to lock it then, when I cleared the obstacle, unlock it to steer more effectively. The problem is that it takes a bit for the locker to "let go". That's where a rear locker with a good front traction control setup would be better.
      Having said that, if I wanted to ultimate off road vehicle, I'd get at Wrangler Rubicon, lift it, put some larger tires on it and beef up some other parts.

My old Cherokee on 31's navigated this trail quite a bit more easily, but it's got solid axles and suspension with far more articulation. The old school "British" grenadier is coming with a BMW straight 6 engine (Complex bits of kit) paired with a ZF 8 speed auto (Very complex bits of kit). It'll be no more of a classic Defender than this is. Well other than the fact it'll be terrible on road compared to this one. All Ineos have done is taken the styling of the old Defender and then bought a load of fancy kit to put into it. Which completely defeats the whole purpose of it.

    I salute the new defender driver, patience, patience 👌👌. Theres a video on RUclips of some learners, I didnt really know if their intention was to sabotage the new defender but their video says it all. They had 2 new defenders against an old defender, the old defender was 110% better everywhere, the new defender drivers were the worst and deserved punishment, were too hard on gas, too fast in an extremely rocky ground, never deflated tyres and the car couldn't drive over challenging obstacles but you guys have put it to even harder test. I will attach the link of the video later. I would love to watch a Toyota Prado vs the new defender video from you guys.

    It's good to see the new Defender being put through it's paces. They are obviously extremely capable, and it's also obvious that new drivers need to learn how to get the best out of the LR traction control system. An experienced D3(LR3) driver would be able to get much more out of these right from the get go 👍

    Must say not bad for this vehicle, i assume it's fully stock except for the AT tyres, in stock size.

      Also seems this video was edited a fair amount presumably to remove all the times it got stuck. Notice how the spotter asked the driver a few times "ready to try again?" meaning it's already had failed attempts. These guys are obviously getting paid to promote the new defender.

    I don't suspect the "new Defender" will ever surpass the original "series" Land Rovers in tough off-road driving. On the other hand, I'm virtually certain the Series Land Rovers will never match the new Defender on paved roads, and even more so, on Interstate highways in the United States. It will be interesting to see how reliable the new generation Defender proves to be.

      Well past experience is good way of judging future experience. And LR products are not the vehicle of choice if reliability is required. Along with 80 odd computers and such a dependency on electronics. It will only take something as small a a wheel speed sensor to fail to deem it incapable. For electronic traction aids to work well it relies on many many different sensors should one fail its incapacitated. But time will tell and they have spent a lo g time developing this let’s hope it’s good cause it’s growing on me. However I still think the defender should have gone down the same path Jeep did. LR have many road biased products this one should have been offroad biased
