- The intended fourth unit in this "GP" series, the RX-78GP04G Gundam GP04G Gerbera, never saw completion. Civilian contractor Anaheim Electronics was left hanging with a set of plans and an incomplete mobile suit prototype. However, many of Anaheim's engineers were former mobile suit designers from the Principality of Zeon, and they modified the plans and construction of the GP04G into a new, Zeon-style mobile suit.
Called the AGX-04 Gerbera-Tetra, it carried a powerful beam machine gun and could be equipped with a "sturm booster," which was essentially a large external propellant tank with extra thrusters, making the Gerbera Tetra one of the fastest and most maneuverable mobile suits of its time. When the Delaz Fleet launched its Operation Stardust uprising against the EFF in late UC 0083, Anaheim Electronics - always looking to make a buck by playing both sides against the middle - offered support for Delaz when Vice President O'Sullivan gave the completed Gerbera-Tetra to Cima Garahau as a political gesture. The rollout version retained the Gundam-style faceplate and binocular eyes, but these were replaced with a standard Zeon monoeye once the suit was handed over to Cima. In the last stages of Operation Stardust, Cima used the Gerbera-Tetra in a last-ditch fight for her own survival (and ultimately failed).

I've always loved the Gerbera-Tetra. Rather than the typical Universal Century boxy and angular design the Gerbera Tetra feels like a race car with its sleekness and those rounded thrusters on its shoulders, but other than that it's a pretty straightforward machine with minimal weapons. Its head reminds me of the Sazabi's too, which is cool.
Yeah, most of us call that ugly box the flying cupboard, so glad I still have my HG GB tetra, sexiest design after the Kampfer. Hahaha!

I love how the Beam Rifle firing sounded like a Rotary Cannon from a Fighter Aircraft.

One of my favorite anime SFX. Macross uses it for the gunpods on the original VF-1 Valkyries, so I'm reminded of my first anime love every time she fires.
80s and 90s animation style/quality are the best. Even as a kid, I always felt some sort of nostalgia watching the older Gundam shows and movies.
That animation was only made for the Blu Ray disc remaster which that scene is CGi made to look 2d cell shaded in the hand drawn of the original... but it's not...
I agree that those series are great for the drama of the fights. Some series like Gundam wing, everything just blows up with one shot or one strike from the sword. Really boring to watch compared to the classic UC series

I like how the Gerbera Tetra is basically an upgrade to Cima's Gelgoog Marine Commander. Her Gelgoog was equipped with a rapid-fire beam rifle, a 110mm machine gun in each forearm, and twin 40mm head vulcans. The Gerbera Tetra was equipped with a beam machine gun with an even higher rate of fire and advanced cooling system, and twin 110mm machine guns in each forearm. Add in increased armor, speed, and maneuverability, and it was basically the same MS, but better.
The ova animation is next bloody level, epitomises the grittiness of ms combat so well in 8th ms team, 0083 and endless waltz. I know it's old and time consuming but it would be great to get more Gundam series to experiment with this style again...as much of a pipe dream that may be
Unfortunately it is a pipe dream. that era is long dead. I think the mentality has changed. a lot of the talent from that time has retired and gotten replaced with people with less heart. the actual materials used to make those hand drawn animations and convert them to a series are probably short in supply and expensive. the price of manual labor is probably a lot more expensive eve when compared in relative terms to the wages in those times. its all about streamlining the process and using computers as much as posible. I think the only way to achieve that feel and look again would take another 15 to 20 years and it would involve artificial inteligence. Using Ai to mimic the hand-drawn look, and add computer aided shading and coloring, but convert it into something that looks imperfect and drawn by hand
I mean this era has passed, its no longer a military mecha franchise, its just another moe moe non sense. I hate the character design and simplified personalities. That, and the theme of war can never coexist for me.

I really love that first version with the two Gundam eyes, Nagano-esque silver faceplate, and silver antenna that vaguely makes the V shape. It makes for a super unique curvy "Gundam" design. The mono-eye version its head is made into later is cool too and I know its mostly there to imply the transition from the GP-04 but this face is so much more unique.
I think they wanted to show the corruption of AE. That one company practically was the bringer of death at the time.
To think that this was a Gundam, and think that you can get Cima on your side as Revil in Gihren's greed is really amusing, and fun.

Gerbera Tetra is the perfect example of a Gundam without plot armor
The "Plot armor" for most Gundams is that they are 2 or 3 generations ahead in development from the grunt suits they're fighting. It'd be like you dropped an M1 Abrahams into WWII. It would be near untouchable. When a series doesn't do this things go badly. See 8th MS Team, Season 1 of Victory, The end of Zeta, and pretty much the second season of any newer gundam. Gerbera Tetra is fighting a stronger enemy with a more skilled pilot.

One of my favorite mobile suits in Stardust Memory. But honestly, is it so much to ask that we get the Tetra Kai as it is? It looks so good and it'd be a great addition to my MS collection. No build diver "Custom" mobile suit shenanigans, just the suit as it was built.

There is a Gerbera Tetra Kai MSV that was not a Build Fighters / Divers custom suit. Lorewise, it didn't exist as the Delaz Fleet and the Gebera Tetra / Cima were destroyed in the final battle... but there was a concept and design for it done by Hajime Katoki. Compared to the original Gerbera, it just had better thrusters and has a stronger output beam machine gun... but it was pretty much the same suit.
This anime 0083 stardust memory, war in a pocket and 08th ms team is the best gundàm anime ever...

フレームのみ完成した状態で放置されていたGP04ガーベラに、ジオン系の外装を被せる事で偽造した機体。
当初はツインアイだったが、シーマ艦隊に譲渡後にモノアイに変更された。
元となったGP04が空間戦闘を想定した高機動機だった事もあり、本機も同時代では破格の機動力を発揮する。
劇中ではシーマ様の乗機として登場。コウのデンドロビウムと宿命の兄弟対決を繰り広げ、互換の攻防を繰り広げるも、一瞬の隙をついた砲身ストレートからの零距離射撃で撃墜された。
GP04ガーベラが戦闘してるの映像もあるけど…
あと、フレームだけじゃなくて本体完成してたのでは…

当然自分も知っていますが、それまではフレームが完成した直後、GP01とコンセプト被ってるという理由で開発中止になった。
って設定だったので。
エンゲージはオリジンをベースにしているようですし、自分はフレームのみを既存の宇宙世紀、本体完成はオリジン版宇宙世紀、と考えてます。

The Orchis had more weapons and armor. She was winning the fight as the underdog. She died because she was surprised by how fast the Orchis could turn for its size (it is shown making 180 degree turns almost instantly several times).

CIMA DESERVED BETTER
I really like zeon MS design. Gerbera, kampfer, gouf custom, sinanju, sazabi, gears dogs, gears Zulu, queen mansha, kshatriya etc. It's more....refreshing than federation MS. yes it's a hit and miss design, but most of it is memorable.
Federation MS in other hand....looks monotone. gundam is cool but all of it looks similar....almost all gundam series has same guide line design. It's a little bit boring.
Too bad bandai never give the same amount of love to their zeon model kit. I mean all gundam always has the best latest engineering, better articulation, 2.0 series etc. Zeon? Only 1 and 2 Ms model kit
MG zaku 2.0 is a thing, The Reborn 100 Zaki II Kai is one of the best kits I've Built, the MG Geara Doga is a rock solid kit for as old as it is. ANY Gundam the origin Zeon kit is just what is expected out of Zeon HGs. want AUs? We just got an MG Ginn that's a wonderful fun kit. the HG Leo is a masterpiece even if it's lacking weapons *biggest mistake was making the weapons kit P-Bandai* The Zaku Phantom/Warrior MGs are great too. It's taken a lot of time but we've gotten good "fodder" kits and hell WfM has more grunt suit releases than Gundams atm
Federation MS use idea as Sherman Tank in WW2. Easy to produce, easy to supply parts, Durable and trustable.
Yeah that’s basically the reason I prefer Zeon MS. More variety. Gundams are cool (I particularly love the Alex) but let’s be honest they usually all look the same. GMs are a bit more varied but they still never go too far from the baseline design. Meanwhile comparing the Kampfer to a standard Zaku they look like they could literally be from different factions if it weren’t for the mono-eyes.
Federation MS? I guess you've never seen Zeta Gundam, they have absolutely bonkers designs all the way through. Hambrabi, Byarlant, Barzam, Gabthley, Galbaldy, Marasai, Gaplant, Palace Athene, The O, Messala, Baund Doc, Asshimar, almost too many weird Titans designs to count throughout the series. They started with the Mk2 and GM2 and said, nope, not weird enough, let's make 'em weird. I'd say the Titans might have Neo Zeon beat for weird ass designs.

@@bryfunkenstein Kou specifically sought out and destroyed Lily Marleen out of a crazed sense of vengeance. He was ripped to shreds by Cima in his first space battle, then lost Lt Burning after a second engagement with that fleet.

Note: I am not holding the OYW gassing against her, as Zeon lied to her forces about what they were doing.
Manga is the true 0083 canon, the ova is just an action movie
There is a reason why you can get Cima on your side in Giren's greed if you play as Revil in 0083.

@@benlex5672 I like that concept, where Revil gives Cima and her people the chance that no one else does, and she faithfully serves as a result. Bonus points if she fights with the AEUG and gets to be a proper hero in such a scenario.
