I appreciate the fact that this video is made, because it emphasizes the importance of one of the fundamentals of parkour, which is learning how to absorb shock when you land. When these basics do become second nature, you can start to play with some of the other concepts like vaults or tricking or fun things like that but initially its the base work that helps you achieve that point. Literally, from the ground up;).
Tapp brothers, you are my role model. Ever since I started parkour/free-running I looked up to you guys. Every step of the way, you help me. I hope to meet you guys some day. Also, I'm taking your free 5-day parkour lessons now. I'm on day 3 (-:
I tried a trick while I was on a bench and I jumped to wall and I stuck my foot out and sprained my ankle the point was to reach a higher point how do I fix this from happening again.
I adapted to doing it because I jump to get some midnight snacks at night so I don't wake people up around me but whenever I do it I get super tired immediately
I guess what he's trying to say in terms of physics is, the force your muscles generate to slow down/come to a stop/change in linear momentum should be moderate then gradually decreasing, like a slope, rather than using a high level of force to make a sudden deceleration/stop/change in momentum. Like a spring slowly collapsing instead of like a solid piece of wood.
Flips are unnesscery unless you are doing rooftop parkour, or a bit off the ground. The only good thing about learning flips is the increased sense of gyroscopy
that's what happened to me i didn't care about the pain and i ended up tearing a ligament. as soon as i got healed that's when i realized hay i need to train better this time.
you can but you got to straighten it. Just even them with your own hands or get massages. Because if you keep it that way you're gonna need therapy for the back brcause of the unbalancing it does.
Dude first go to a chiropractor, if that doesn't work go to someone that works with muscles. My grandmas legs were way different and the muscle lady fixed it the first appointment
Whenever I jump off an obstacle at a far distance I go into a roll. However, I notice that although my rolls are quiet, my landings aren't. How can I quiet my landing before I go into the roll?
im not sure you have to basically act like a spring . spring for jump and when you fall bend your knees but if ts really high bend your knees and gradually curl into a ball and roll im not really sure tho
Practice jumping off a small step and landing as quietly as possible. This involves landing on your toes and crouching to absorb impact. It's important to start small and increase height gradually. Simple as that.
Jufri Roslan My answer may be a bit late but anyways. Try it doing it, even though you fail, because each time you'll push or pull your body, you'll get stronger. You won't notice it at first, but you'll gradually pick up some muscle !
There are two reasons I can think of: first of all you might be landing too stifly - and you have to soften up. Absorb the impact with your knees and other joints, but don't go too far down, which leads me to the second reason. You bend your knees too much - generally you ought to have control and should thus try not to bend your knees further than 90 degrees - you are putting too much pressure on the joints. Take a break and try to exercise the small muscles around the kneecap - and remember to be mild to the knees. They are not replacable.
overload parkour It depends on what you're looking for. If you want minimalist shoes (thin soled, good for practicing technique) Dunlop Volleys are good and last for quite a while (they're about $20). They're hard to find though, and the new volleys (internationals) only last for a month. Merrell trail gloves and merrell trail glove 2's are barefoot shoes and are very grippy, amazing for improving technique. These are quite expensive though. Running shoes are used for when trying to do bigger things or can just be used all the time. Some good ones are Ollo's (Ollo PK), Adistar Racers, Onitsuka Tiger Ultimate 81s and Onitsuka Tiger Serranos. You can also just look in a shop for shoes and find some yourself. There are plenty of videos on this, Ronnie Shalvis did a good one, if you watch that you can know what to look for. Hope I helped!! :)
are you doing it on a hard surface? try rolling on softer surfaces to make sure your getting the technique right, i recommend watching a video to know the exact arm, head etc movements.

I don't know if you reply to comments but I just wanted to ask a question. To be good at parkour do I have to be able to do a front flip on flat?
No...

Try on a couch or something else soft first. When you get comfortable, start practicing on grass. Then, you're ready to go once you get it!

I do thus all the time outside and inside cause I don't want to get in trouble in my house
I'm 74 kg and i cant do pull ups and chin ups.... Can you tell me how to develop strength
Jufri Roslan My answer may be a bit late but anyways. Try it doing it, even though you fail, because each time you'll push or pull your body, you'll get stronger. You won't notice it at first, but you'll gradually pick up some muscle !
Holy shit how? You’re only 160 pounds. Hell well, start with push-ups first, if you can’t do a proper push-up, use stairs for assistance
