    Bombers need small forward, not key defender. Our defence is tall and strong with good depth. Our goal scoring small forwards are missing completely. Even our new recruit gresham is playing mid and further up the ground and varely threatens the goals. Davey jr is a mixed bag and barely gets a game. We need someone really dangerous up there to crumb off our ridiculous amounts of tall key players

    I'm leaning more towards Hawks taking O'Farrell over Whitlock. But I wouldn't be upset with Jack Whitlock

    As an Essendon fan I don't think we will be looking at a key defender at all, last year was a little different cos O'Sullivan was potentially a super talent with captaincy qualities but in the end the Bombers made the right choice for me and traded up to get Caddy. But with McKay, Reid, Hayes and Ridley on the list I think we have enough tall talent to develop already and don't need to go down that path again yet. Kako is in Essendon's NGA but will obviaously attract a bid inside the top 40 and more likely inside the top 25 meaning we won't have first rights to him unfortunately, but if he's potentially going that early then Essendon just take him with their natural pick I think. He's been a really impressive goal scoring small forward, Kako is exactly the type of player Essendon is missing most on their list, a creative, higher pressure, high scoreboard impact crumbing small forward.

    As a Cats fan. I wouldn’t mind Matt Whitlock. But I wouldn’t pick him with the intention of playing him as a key back. It’s not what we need, otherwise we might as well of drafted Nate Caddy last year. I reckon we trade up and get some of GCS’s 1st RP’s (maybe 8 or 11) and then trade it out of this draft. Load up big time into next year’s draft. Not the biggest fan of this draft. Think theres a lot of talent here but not any specific needs. We need an explosive midfielder that stands at 185-187. A wingman and another key forward. Id really only take Jobe Shanahan in this year’s draft, or Christian Moraes as a wingman.
    Good draft vid tho.
    Would have Jagga Smith going to Richmond at 2 though.

    Massive draft nerd here and I reckon Lombard and Jagga Smith may wind up the best 2 players of this draft, but neither are likely to be taken in the top 3 picks. Every year there is a small player who is just a genuine footballer and always slides. Victorians also tend to be slightly overrated and a few interstate players slip through the cracks, especially allies squad players. For this reason I think Lombard may be the steal of the draft. Other teams need to bid early on him. I think he will be the best player or very close to it. Jagga smith has all the moves, but like you say doesn’t have the most hurt factor. I reckon he has too much skill though and will be a 200-300 game gun. Could have a huge hurt factor in a strong team.
    Also Bo Allan I think is far better then all the phantom drafts have him. I’d have him ahead of half this list. There is also another player not listed here that I think is top end talent

      No, we won't, we already have too many mids between 175 and 185, we don't need another. We'll either go Smillie or try and split the #1 pick into two first rounders.

    • @Andy-o2f
      @Andy-o2f 3 месяца назад

      @@Leftfield71 We'll take Smillie because he's big? An absurd claim. I only wish I knew you mate, so I could make a wager and take your money. As for splitting pick 1, then it would only be if a quality player trade was involved, because right now I can't see how that benefits North.

    • @Leftfield71
      @Leftfield71 3 месяца назад

      @@Andy-o2f His size isn't the only reason, but one of the reasons. Phillips, McKercher, Simpkin, Powell and Wardlaw are all of a similar height (between 180 & 184cms) with LDU being our biggest mid at 188cms. Smillie is a big-bodied midfielder we could use to compliment LDU and compete with the likes of Reid, Bont and Cripps. And if he continues to grow, he could develop into a mobile KPP.
      There has been some discussion that North could split the #1 pick for a pick in the 3 to 8 range and 1 or 2 later round 1/early round 2 picks, but this is mainly seen as an alternative if we want to select a KPP instead of a midfielder. I'm not convinced we will go this route unless the deal is too good to refuse.
      Of course, it's early days and nothing is set in stone, but these are two options I have heard from various news sources and websites.

    • @Leftfield71
      @Leftfield71 3 месяца назад

      @@Andy-o2f O'Sullivan offers us nothing we don't already have, we have six mids between 180-185cms, we don't need another, in fact we will more than likely trade one out. The splitting of our top pick won't be part of a player trade, it will be part of a picks trade, they are a few clubs with multiple first round picks, and we may be willing to drop down the pecking order a bit if the offer is good enough. I'm not sure if this is likely at this stage, but a few "experts" have made mention of the possibility.

    It seems the Coates Talent League gets more exposure than the WAFL colts. A lot of these phantom/mock drafts have very little WA product. WA smashing SA today away from home hopefully sends a message to everyone that WA is part of Australia and have some very good players. Post championships is usually a better time to get a gauge on where players are at. Also, the Coates started a few weeks before the Colts too. Just thought it was important to mention because things will change a lot come August/September from a WA standpoint. From an Eagles POV it will be interesting to see if Luke Trainor goes at pick 2 as Richmond seem to have a dearth in options in the backline hence them picking up Blight in the midseason draft. They seem pretty stocked midfield wise having brought in Hopper and Taranto. Their pick is not as straightforward as it seems imo. If Richmond do go that route then we might be able to pick up Finn O'Sullivan. Clubs are desperate for tall backs. Adelaide trading to get Curtin last year is case in point.
