Congratulations Kristina. I used to write a lot of fan fiction, but I don’t really write much anymore. Twice a year, my writer friend, who is published, get together and lock ourselves in a hotel room and write. She works on her next book and I work on my own fiction projects. Her first several books were published by one of the big houses in New York, but she lost her editor and the new one wasn’t as interested. She has now self published one novel with two more coming in the next couple of years. More power to you Karina!
As an aspiring writer mother of two littles and homemaker you don’t know how much this video means to me. I have always wrote and I felt after having kids and being a sahm that there was no way I would ever have the time or that it would be possible. Seeing you do this and share your tips and journey had inspired me to give it a go! Thank you so much for having the courage to put yourself out there like this.

Wait a minute. You're not really going to tell us you were on the cover of a book and not tell us the name of the book are you? p.s., Sarra Cannon has self published MANY novels and she has a channel called Heart Breathings where she teaches other people how to self publish as well. She has gone over the stigma that can happen when you self publish. I think self publishing is smart and the way to go. It's a bit more effort and expense but you get to retain control over your creation. It is ok to be grateful and to go your own way. I'm so excited for you!
Haha they’re not out any more, she decided to rewrite them and make them novels from novellas! The author’s name is Eden Wilder though!

I'd say the number one advice for writing a first draft is not to let it be bad but to structure it, so that the plot can be good. Even if you prefer discovery writing as I do, at least sketch out what will happen in each act, or make an outline that can change as you write, and it will make all the difference in finishing a draft. That's what worked for me.
Congratulations! I just stumbled across your video. It always makes me happy to hear authors taking control of their own careers and going the indie publishing path. I published my debut novel in the past year too.
Just a tip I’ve heard from other authors, it’s not advised to publish in the US election month.
Good luck with your novel, it’s not easy doing it yourself, but it is very rewarding and just remember it takes time to build a readership.

Thank you so very much for making this video! So much helpful information! I'm in a similar boat as you. I've been writing stories since my childhood, did NaNo, but then started a family the next year and, although the stories kept building in my mind, I was not allocating time to writing daily. Now, I'm back to it again and I'm really happy with the way my stories are going. I want to begin the pursuit of publishing soon and everything you talked about here is exactly what I needed to hear! Hey I can’t wait I normally read vampire books but I will be one of the first to read your book and walk about it on my instagram and RUclips because I love you for showing me that I can ware vintage and be plus size I thought like every one else that vintage is only for small people and it make sense what you say we only see the small things because the regular people meaning people our size wore there clothes out. Love this video you look lovely. My daughter has had 2 books published. I think each book ( much smaller than yours). It took her 2-3 years to for each book. Then like you it was in between working v demanding job. So keep it up 👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏🥂

How exciting!!!! I can tell you that my mother has decades worth of love for reading. We love nothing more than a good "hysterical" novel or bodice ripper....as we call them. You have come up with a story line and setting that truly calls to both of us. We love history, have Scottish ancestry, and seek escapism....... and of course true love's first kiss! Words cannot express how much I loved this video💖 It is so so helpful to listen to your story and your tips and tricks on editing and writing and all the work that comes with publishing a novel! Being a published author has been my dream too and you inspire me so much to chase my dream! For a couple years now I've been not focused on my writing (just on my love of reading lol) but it wasn't until this year that I was like "wait a sec, why am I lollygagging? Lets just write!"

Literally take my money!! Lol This is my go-to comfort fave genre (scotland set historical fiction, especially in the 1700s). Im so happy for you and I will be pre-ordering this book as soon as it's available. You're my fave vintage creator (plus all your other talents) and I 100% can't wait to see what you've done with the historical fiction genre.
Ah, sigh. I'd love to be a writer.. or more so a published writer. But I'm the classic "It's a part of me; if someone doesn't like it... I would take it personally". Someone can publish whatever I have stashed away after I'm dead!
It’s definitely something to work through! I purposefully don’t look at reviews for a WHILE if ever. Reviews are for other readers and not the author anyway! But it does take some mental prep to put your creative work out there and I’ll always have that little terrified part of me knowing someone won’t like it 😂 but that’s ok! Not everything is going to be for everyone.

I read somewhere that a mom told her daughter.. when you are dating a man and you feel butterflies.. run hard and fast in the opposite direction!! Thats not love. Love is steady. Calm. Dependable. That resonated w me .. i grew up reading harlequin romances at my grandparents house.. my mom would have died if she knew.. it totally skewed my idea of love.. nor too mention highly inappropriate for my age.
