I was born in 1954, one of six. This video took me back, remembering Mom who only wore face powder and red lipstick. First thing in the morning, she quickly groomed. In summertime, she wore sleeveless blouses and shorts, all cotton, so Mom ironed most days. Thank you, Kristina, for your lovely, love-filled videos.
All her life my grandma had the habit of quieting the house every evening. Dishes done and put away, surfaces cleared, curtains drawn. After that point, it was personal time to wind down, and no more work was done. Now that I have a place of my own, the whole routine seems comforting.
This is the first time I am leaving completely on my own at 48 and trying to develop a routine for me. I have to keep reminding myself I'm here alone no kids to cook for or getting up to go buy milk because I forgot the night before.
“From a lovely bride to a disheveled wife” sounds like it could be the title of this particular chapter of my life😂. I just wanted to tell you how much you have helped me feel better in my own body! It’s so strange how we just soak up some attitudes from the internet without even knowing, that’s why it’s really precious to see such a good example! ❤
I learned about the curtain opening quite by accident as I’m not a 1950’s housewife. A 1950’s wife moved in across the road (I’m in the country), as I’ve done for years I get up and immediately open the front door so my dog can go out through his doggy door. Before 7AM the new neighbor knocked on my screen door and entered. She said I saw that your door was open so I came right over. She stayed for almost 2 hours! I had to be rude to get her to leave as I needed to get ready for work. For over two years after that, I never kept my door open in the morning. The 1st time I saw this 1950’s routine I understood why she thought it ok to come uninvited. 😂 I wish there was something like this when I was raising my children. I really struggled with keeping a clean house for many years. Lists really helped me. I too put everything in one place, then sorted to put away. One time my exceptionally clean, organized, and skinny friend popped over. I was so embarrassed! I had everything in the middle of the living room floor ready to be sorted. Our house is VERY small. She said, “What are you doing?” It certainly didn’t make me feel good about my overweight, messy self. Now, my children are grown and my house is neat and tidy. I love it when my grandkids come over and mess it up! Thank you for showing what a normal house looks like! Lived in and full of love!!!
Thank you for a nice video. I lived it being born in 1954. Got to see my mom always buzzing around the house and we had 7 people in our family. Our house was never perfect.
I grew up in the 1950’s with a family of seven and one bathroom. No one had AC. We never ate out, my mother cooked and baked. Laundry was hung on the clothesline. We had one tv and one car. As the decades pass it seems like families think they “need more and more.” Unfortunately to afford all of these “needs” both parents have to work. My mother always looked nice. Back then folks would not dream of going out in pajama pants! Although some ladies actually shopped with brushed rollers in their hair, covered with a scarf.
Born in 1946, I saw this routine done by just about all the ladies on the street. The ones who went to the beat of a different drummer were not seen as 'gòod' housekeepers. Homes were much cleaner back then. Mom worked at home. Families only had 1 car. My grandkids ask 'what did you do with no tablets, only 1 radio, 1 phone in the hall?' Kids had adventures every day. We played outside, had friends, climbed trees, walked lots. I did not feel deprived. Women prided themselves on Mondays with the 1st wash hung on the line ' the whitest sheets. Routines organized daily jobs and you felt a sense of accomplishment.
I absolutely love your videos! I’m a plus sized, neurodivergent, vintage enthusiast who has a hard time with cleaning and establishing routines. Your videos are super helpful! And I love that you don’t stage your home for the camera and instead show what real life looks like. Can’t wait to see what you come up with next!
Kristina, so sorry to hear about your unexpected repairs. With the cost of everything these days it’s never fun to have that kind of surprise. I am not one to comment often but wanted to thank you for these vintage routines. These days we have bigger and bigger houses with more “stuff” and it’s not always easy to keep it all tidy with a busy family. I love hearing these voices from the past telling us it is ok to take a nap or encouraging us to spend time with a hobby. It’s just such a great reminder.
Yes to all the 1950s content! I would love to see a week of 1950s meals. Your home is so lovely. And your sweet, sleepy kitty is so cute. Thanks for leaving the clip with the headwrap in. I always wondered how to do that. ❤
Hi Kristina! I've been watching your videos for a couple weeks now. I'm 32 and live in a house that is 6000sqft in rural Alabama, the house was built in 1904! As someone who grew up with a single mother that head mental health disorders, I did not learn to keep house. No kids yet (maybe someday) but this house has been a huge undertaking. I just want to thank you for putting out these videos showing a modern day woman taking care of her family and home. For showing it's not all sunshine and rainbows but you cant have rainbows without rain! With your videos and the help of an app that I found, I'm getting a routine down to keep this house clean but welcoming! Thank you 🥰💖
I was born in 1968, the youngest of three, and I grew up with a lot of this.🥰 My mom was a ‘50’s bride, and held onto those useful and beautiful housewares and habits. I love seeing all these vintage things, and your home is so warm and full of character and love!❤. Nowadays, with minimalism and plainness being all the rage, people’s homes look institutional!😅. You’re such a lovely lady, thank you for sharing and being an inspiration.🌷
Don't forget you also reorganised your dining room - twice! That looks like quite a lot of work in a morning. I loved the quote from the book. And on that note this 'dishevelled wife' had better get on with her day 😂😂
As a neurodivergent grandmother I am sssooo happy I found you! This channel has been so encouraging to me and to my daughter. Please don't change in any way. We love you as you are. God bless.
The meals series would be fun. This cleaning routine was great to watch. My mom, a 50's housewife, did not model this lifestyle. Our home was never that neat or clean, but we ALWAYS had a good dinner. Like her, I dont like to clean, yet I want a clean, tidy house, so I've learned a few routines of my own over the years. I hope you find your own rhythm.
Kristina, I enjoy your videos so much. I especially like to see you keeping house with the children and pets getting in the way. You just include them and let them "help," or in the case of the cat, you give him a little cuddle time. Thanks for keeping it real. Not staged. Not perfect. You spark more joy with your artistic character than an empty, gray modern apartment with minimal possessions.
Since you said you have issues with your cat knocking over your vases, you could try museum putty! It's made for museums to stop things from falling during earthquakes, but it's a godsend for folks with cats!
I have that Betty Crocker cookbook. I love it. It was my mother's and is falling apart. Would love to see some vintage inspired cooking. Your cleaning videos are inspiring.
I can't tell you enough how much your channel has helped me in my daily routines and life in general!! Being a stay at home Mother of 5 is no easy task. It takes so much time, love, and devotion. Your cleaning videos are amazing and I am genuinely SO very grateful!!❤ Thank you Kristina. Much love, from here in the PNW❤
The 1950s breakfast/lunch/dinner is a great idea! I actually love grapefruit 😅🤣Also, there really is something to that notion of fixing yourself up a bit before starting a day of housework or fixing breakfast on weekend! I definitely feel less disheveled!💄🥿
I remember hearing somewhere that when you would open your curtains (after cleaning) it was a way of letting your neighbors know that you’re open to having company! Not sure how accurate that was, but it sounds like a lovely idea! I loved this (and all) your videos, thank you!! 💜🫶
He’s the dumbest cat we’ve ever had 😂 He can have a full water dish and still knock over every vase, mug, or cup that might have water in it just to drink that instead
@@WithLoveKristinahe must be an orange kitty. All orange kitty's share a singular brain cell and it must be taking a long time for it to be his turn with it 😂❤
@@WithLoveKristinamine also did this until I gave her a transparent pyrex bowl to drink out of. That way she can see better if the water is up to her standards and I don't have water all over anymore. Your cat might just be very picky when it comes to drinking. 😅
I love your red refrigerator! We have red microwave and coffee pot. Our house was built in 1922 and one of the counters in our kitchen is red too. Its original. I never want to change it, even if other people hate it, i love it. We are only the 4th owner, and we bought the house from my inlaws...so, its my wifes childhood home. We have updated a few things out of necessity, but keep to the 1922 feel. I really like your video's and your home. People raised big families in small homes. I think people have lost touch on what its like to just be " normal " for lack of a better word. Sharing bedrooms growing up was completely normal! Having a baby in the parents bedroom for long periods of time was normal, I read a parenting book from the 30s that said having a baby sleep in a dresser drawer near the mother was perfectly exceptable when a crib or bassinet were not available. We ( as a society) have gotten way to bougie! I love how you are taking things back to a simpler time and way of life.
I would totally read your 200,000 word novel! ♥ Your sponsorship spots are just as genuine, darling, and charming as your prepared content. I love seeing your vintage collections in use throughout your home.
Watching videos like yours makes me realize that I (because my mom, my grandmother, and great grandmother) never learned how to keep house. That realization has helped me overcome the shame and frustration I have felt about “keeping house”. Thank you for helping me learn ☺️
What fun!! We really need to know how to house keep. I'm 75 & resisted housekeeping my whole life and always made things harder than they actually were! Thanks for your tips!!
I was married in 1977. My housekeeping changed when I discovered the Sidetracked Home Executive system. To this day, I can’t work without lace up shoes on my feet, LOL! The best part is that when my shies come off after dinner, my whole brain and body knows it’s time to relax. 😊
my parents were married in 1951. I must ask my mom about her morning routine when first married! I was the last of 8 kids and born in the 1970s, so by the time I rolled around her routine was dawn to dusk cooking, packing lunches, serving meals, washing dishes, with lots of laundry, hanging clothes, and ironing thrown in. I think she grabbed 30 minutes to herself at 1:30 on a good day. Lipstick, a bit of eyebrow pencil & brushing out pin-curls was only on Sundays - but I do recall watching her makeup routine on Sunday a.m. Also, my mother, grandmother and great-grandmother were all plus sized. My grandma's 1930s day dresses make me want to go back in time and raid her wardrobe :)
Would love a series on 1950’s cooking. Great video. So sorry about all the repairs. Ugh. As far as the grapefruit, a lot of us can’t have because of our blood pressure meds. I really miss it.
Every time I clean, I play one of your vintage cleaning routine videos, so I’m excited to see a new one! Yes, I would love some videos on 1950s breakfast, lunch, dinner, etc 😊
Hello again Kristina! As always, I am absolutely thrilled to get a notification when one of your videos goes up. Hearing your voice is like hearing from an old friend I haven't talked to in ages. You are always so relatable and down to earth, and your content brings me joy. I love seeing you take care of your cozy home, mess and all. Sorry to hear things haven't been going your way, and I hope this helps!
I so enjoy your videos! As a mom of 5, and I’m positive I would be diagnosed neurodivergent today (I’m 43), I struggle with staying on task as well as just being so overwhelmed that I don’t know where to start. I NEED lists and schedules to keep me going and seeing your videos is so refreshing. It’s wonderful to see someone be honest and yet very encouraging. Praying for your repairs and your family.
As a ND person myself i have routines for everything, i couldnt function without them! I also love how in the 50s they made routines for mothers/women to follow i find it so interesting
I could watch your content for hours! So, I vote yes to cooking content. Also, a question for you. Do you do canning at all? I would watch that too!!! Love you Kristina.
Hello! I found you on Instagram a few months ago but only started watching more of your videos just recently. Everything I've watched so far I love! You are a wonderful and amazing human and thank you for sharing your research and ND tricks and thank you for being brave and vulnerable with us too. So often we see curated homes and yours says "Humans live here. Big Humans, 5 little humans, and two cats live here in this small house." Which feels so much more realistic and relatable. So thank you for sharing your life with us! 💖
I am so happy I found your channel! I’ve just watched a few episodes and the “one room until done” makes so much sense! I love it and am implementing it today.
❤🎉 oh that’s what I’ve been missing! Aprons! I’m new to the whole homemaker life and keep running to the kitchen towels. Awesome score on your pioneer woman comforter- I’m also eyeing some earrings from her line😊
I'd be interested in a recipe/menu video, but I'd also be interested in seeing you try one of these routines for a longer period of time - maybe a week or two? - to see how well they work over a longer period and with some non-daily tasks included.
Please consider posting the same as an afternoon / evening routine! Would love to see that with your adjustments for kids (we have 4 ages 8 & under). Thank you for sharing this content.
When my son was young, during school breaks I would make Nutella banana French toast at least once! Make a Nutella banana sandwich, then dip the whole thing in batter and fry.
Hey. I never thought to watch a video themed "cleaning Routine"...moreover 1950 . But I do. Voluntarily! And I spotted, that I already do some of this stuff, like collecting things in a basket. 🎉. But the part with "put it in the right spot, or even the "Routine" let me struggle every time. I love your content of being you. You seem to be such a lovely person. ❤
These cleaning routine videos are honestly so helpful. Starting to feel a little less overwhelmed now that I have a general guide/ order of operation ❤
Your living room looks stunning after the organization of the books, the wallpaper and rearranging of the furniture. I loove the look of full/messy bookcases but after the intentional decluttering and organasation it just looks wonderfully hobbity/ narnian!
As another neurodivergent person I also struggle with cleaning and tidying unless I am told what to do. Watching this video has really inspired me to go through some of my old household guides to see if there are any cleaning routines which might work for me. Would definitely watch any vintage meal / meal-planning content
I vote for the meals. Mainly because they will probably be things that my grandmothers cooked from time to time. My one grandmother was born in 1898 and loved to cook and bake. She had recipes from when HER mother was a child!
We live in an older home and our elderly neighbor had told us she was friends with the woman who lived here years ago circa 1950s 60s 70s and our neighbor said she made sure Mrs. Harriman, who lived in our home, was doing ok for the day and once Mrs. Harriman was up for the day she would open her curtains on the side door facing her house. If they curtains didnt open the Mrs. Harriman was sick and she would go check in on her as shelive alone. ❤
Honestly, I don’t care for meals and cooking stuff, but any house cleaning stuff, I’ll be there! And please let us know when your book is published. As a book-a-holic, I’d love to support you there.
I remember my Mom during the 1950’s, wore a sundress or skirt and blouse, when she was home taking care of the house and cooking meals , along with flat loafers or sandles in the Summer. I don’t EVER remember my Mom or her neighborhood friends tying a RAG around their hair, unless they were sanding furniture or so either dusty, dirty work . And when she went to the Supermarket, during the week, she wore the skirt/ blouse , house dress or sundress that she wore at home. ALWAYS dressed with nice suit, or dress ,heels, hose gloves and hat with neat jewelry. And what so many women today don’t understand, is that in being fugal, and cooking almost meals at home, sewing, clipping coupons etc, women did not work outside of the home like they do today. And being the SMART women, with the “skills of an Engineer”. They knew how to get things done , and organize their time, where they could go shopping with a friend, go to a Stanley Home party or the newest craze, The Tupperware party. They knew how to get part of the evening Supper done in the am, then the rest when they got back from a visit with friends.Nowdays, so many young women could stay home, if they learned how to budget, save on not having expensive work wardrobes, child care or even that expensive to maintain 2ed car. I’m guilty, too, but we have gotten used to every newest gadget, new f angeled appliance, that we almost have to have. 2 fully employed people. I was definately my happiest when I took care of the home, and my children, and didn’t have to shuffle home and full time work which left me totally exausted. Wes!!!!!!!!!!!
I just found your RUclips channel today was the first day I watched your videos the first one was the 1940s clean and I actually downloaded the book now I'd like to thank you because you are the only one I've ever seen it has his own somewhat the same size as mine very small. If I remember correctly in my house is somewhat 840 to 900 square feet something to that effect no attic no basement. I was widowed for 9 years moved into his house and it's extremely small leave me all these tips come in handy
I was born in 1954, one of six. This video took me back, remembering Mom who only wore face powder and red lipstick. First thing in the morning, she quickly groomed. I was born in 1955 and the youngest of six too. I wear face powder and red lipstick just like my Mom.
My mom always had an ironing basket. I refuse to iron unless it’s 100% necessary. That’s what dryers are for.
Most of women in Italy do the exact same thing today 😅
All her life my grandma had the habit of quieting the house every evening. Dishes done and put away, surfaces cleared, curtains drawn. After that point, it was personal time to wind down, and no more work was done. Now that I have a place of my own, the whole routine seems comforting.

The owl cutting board hanging near your kitchen entrance is fabulous!
1950s meals had would be so much fun to watch!
I would love to see those videos on the 1950 breakfast, lunch and dinner
Hello again Kristina! As always, I am absolutely thrilled to get a notification when one of your videos goes up. Hearing your voice is like hearing from an old friend I haven't talked to in ages. You are always so relatable and down to earth, and your content brings me joy. I love seeing you take care of your cozy home, mess and all. Sorry to hear things haven't been going your way, and I hope this helps!
Wonderful video!!! Such a great idea, one room at the time!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ Will follow that advice ❤❤❤❤❤
Me too. Now that my children are grown it is actually harder to stay on task.
As a ND person myself i have routines for everything, i couldnt function without them! I also love how in the 50s they made routines for mothers/women to follow i find it so interesting
Thanks for sharing this. I like the idea of a 1950s meals video series. Sorry about your unexpected repairs.
Oh my goodness. That is the cookbook we had growing up. I love these kinds of video Kristina.Thank you.
I love vintage and cooking, so seeing breakfasts, lunches and dinners would be fun videos for me! ☺️
I hope you get the funds you need for your repair! Your house looks like a home and it is so lovely to see your cleaning videos!
I could watch your content for hours! So, I vote yes to cooking content. Also, a question for you. Do you do canning at all? I would watch that too!!! Love you Kristina.
Boop. ( I usually don't comment, but here's one for the algorithm. Wishing you all the best)
Thank you!
Love your channel so much. The music, the entire vibe. I find it so relaxing ❣️
Learning to adult is so hard with ADHD. This content is so great
Tell me about it! Lol I didn’t discover I have ADHD (and autistic tendencies) till 2020 so it’s been a whole new wooooorld 😂
I love your videos, your style and demeanor is so sweet and helpful, it's truly a joy getting to see you!
❤🎉 oh that’s what I’ve been missing! Aprons!
I’m new to the whole homemaker life and keep running to the kitchen towels.
Awesome score on your pioneer woman comforter- I’m also eyeing some earrings from her line😊
Yes, yes! Would love weeks worth of 1950s meals videos. 😊 Thanks so much!
Perfect length of video to vacuum my tiny flat !
Hi Kristina always a pleasure watching your videos I love watching about the 50/60 and the 70s thrown in there take care much love possum ❤️😊
Such wonderful and drama free content! I love it 🌸 Be blessed sweet sweet Kristina 🩷🙏
It is nice to have a routine to follow and just work through without much thought, it’s so helpful if you get sidetracked easily. ❤
When my son was young, during school breaks I would make Nutella banana French toast at least once! Make a Nutella banana sandwich, then dip the whole thing in batter and fry.
I love the way you've arranged the hats around the mirror! What a nice touch. :)
Just commenting for the algorithm ❤! Lots of positive vibes from Denmark !
Please do the 1950s meals videos! ❤❤❤ I love watching you cook.
I love vintage recipes and cooking videos. I am very interested in the 1940s and early 1950s. On the hunt for a rations cookbook.
I love your home . It's beautiful, it looks like a vintage home...real ..lived in but still lovely
These cleaning routine videos are honestly so helpful. Starting to feel a little less overwhelmed now that I have a general guide/ order of operation ❤
I love your bedroom furniture it's beautiful.
Your living room looks stunning after the organization of the books, the wallpaper and rearranging of the furniture. I loove the look of full/messy bookcases but after the intentional decluttering and organasation it just looks wonderfully hobbity/ narnian!
You have such a beautiful house and lovely vintage things! I love this channel!!
I would love to watch a breakfast series, but truthfully I would watch anything you make since you are my favorite RUclips channel!
I was born in 1961, my mother had this morning routine! Thank you for this beautiful video. ❤ Matilda.
Yes, the 1950s meals would be so fun, can’t wait!
These videos are just delightful 😁
As another neurodivergent person I also struggle with cleaning and tidying unless I am told what to do. Watching this video has really inspired me to go through some of my old household guides to see if there are any cleaning routines which might work for me.
Would definitely watch any vintage meal / meal-planning content
It relieves the mental load SO much to just have a written routine! If you want any of these they’re on my ko-fi and you can just get ‘em for $0
I vote for the meals. Mainly because they will probably be things that my grandmothers cooked from time to time. My one grandmother was born in 1898 and loved to cook and bake. She had recipes from when HER mother was a child!
Thank you for physically showing how to measure. I struggle with that. I love everything you do. Plus your positivity & self non-shaming. Hugs
I like your house! And the strawberry teapot is a favorite.
You're awesome at doing your daily stuff and having 5 kidlets and a hubby 😀
I get worn out watching your vids! Lol
Haha the more I do it the easier it is!
I really enjoy your videos. As someone who idolized the 40s and 50s growing up it’s lovely to see you take the routines and put them into practice
This was very interesting, and feels more doable than others you've done previously. I like that it encourages self care.
I very much enjoy your videos, Kristina. 1950’s meals would a lot of fun!
I would love a serie of 50s meals! Please, dear. Do it for us :)
once a year i get recommended your videos. Its a nice reminder of a good daily routine.
Once again I loved your video ❤️
Love these videos, calming cleaning is nice. I find most clean/organize videos are too high energy
My dead Kristina you have no idea how happy it made to watch another of your videos
I totally will!
Love to see the 1920s and 1930s routine. This was fun!
Yes I am interested in anything vintage including food. I have struggled with being a housekeeper All of my life.
