I am a larger dress size than you, and I'm a young woman with an interest in vintage fashion that's survived many many years of heartache over sizes. I love that we can adapt our patterns we find to our bodies, or find items that are workable while still making us happy. Plus size women have always existed! You're an inspiration for me as I try to decorate my first home and dress vintage and sustainably myself. Thank you for being you
How rude of anyone to say that to you! Plus its not true. My mother was large and she never had any trouble during the 30s, 40s and 50s. It became harder to find them in the 60s because of the "Twiggy" movement. You are beautiful and perfect like you are.
If you are worried about kids or cats knocking things off your mantel get some museum putty. You put a little ball under your glassware and push it down and it sticks the glassware to your surface. It’s reusable and removable and adds some extra security. It comes it handy sooooo often.
I’ve been watching your channel for a little bit and I just want to commend you on your sassiness about people that have negative comments. If they don’t like something they can watch something else. I love your attitude and I love the way you dress. You are doing a great job at this RUclips thing. Keep it up :-)
Hahaha I’m glad to hear this. I try not to be outright mean but honestly the sass has come out a lot lately because life is too short to endure rudeness from strangers 😆
I wonder if I love vintage so much because it was my grandmother’s era and deep down I aspire to be more like her. She was very small when married, but all the time I knew her she was more to love. 😂 I only had one small grandma. Great grandma were all plus size.
Thanks for sharing! I was reselling for a few years and it was fun. It was competitive as a reseller trying to be discreet in stores but now that I want to shop vintage just for myself it irritates me that thrifting in general has become so competitive overall and mostly because Goodwill and similar take all the good stuff and funnel it to their websites. So when you find really good stuff get it and run!
Hello, i am new to your channel. For some reason last nite as i was on RUclips your channel popped up. I saw your Vintage kitchen and i though, she likes the same era that i do. However i am almost in my 70's. My home is full of AUTHENTIC Retro, Vintage and Antiques. I have Original 40's and 50's China, furniture and much more. I have 4 daughtets and 3 of them follow my style. It makes me smile when i walk in yhere homes and i see lots of Vintage/ Antiques in there homes. And i must admit they love that style so much that i have passed down many Family Heirlooms to them. They see how well made things in the past were made. You see to love the OLD " style has nothing to with ones age. My daughter's are young married ladies. Also, i love how you laugh, you make life simple. I think you are Beautiful exactly how God made you, don't gibmve it a second thought when people are rude. You are Perfectly made in Gods image. I look forward to seeing more of your content. God bless you 🙏
omg i have that same valentine table decoration. it was my moms. put back in the envelope she bought it in (hallmark) & she bought it when she was 15 & had her first valentine day party. that was 1975.
It was so fun when you showed the book I gave you and said my name…I ran and showed my husband !The book is a big one ,,I hope you and your sweet family have fun with it , with love Dalene❤️
You have a wonderful eye for vintage pieces! Honestly, just looking at your dresses hanging don't reveal their true beauty until you actually wore them. This is what makes it difficult for the less experienced like myself to find vintage pieces, especially online. Buying online would be so tricky without actually trying them on. And unfortunately, we would never find these beauties as easily at a thrift store. I guess it's a matter of trial and error?
Hey Kristina - if you haven't painted the shades already - find beautiful LACE TRIM to glue under the top edge of the lampshade. If you want to paint, use a cream to match the cream stripes in the glass and use a dark green LACE TRIM for the top edge. Get a finial in brass that picks up the metal pattern. Perfect and frugal - win, win!
The lamps are beautiful! Personally, I would leave the plain white shades on because I think adding green to them will distract from the beauty of the lamp bases, which are really extraordinary. I totally have the very same coffee mug! Love it!!❤
I love your videos and the confidence you exude is inspiring. You are such a beautiful person inside and out and the world is a better place because of you and the beauty you see in the vintage clothing and home decor that you thrift. Keep the positive and delete the hurtful comments and continue the inspiration.🙂
I’m so glad you brought up the fact that thrifting has changed. I’ve been thrifting vintage since high school (25 years ago) and there’s just nothing either worth buying, or the true vintage is too expensive. Estate sales and EBay are still okay, but I’ve started sewing more to fill in the clothing gaps.
The lady doilies look like dressing table sets, there might have been a third bigger one that matched at one point. My Grandmother used to to embroider them. I am a vintage age woman and let me assure doubters that there was very many plus size women back then.
You reminded me, yes, a third, bigger one, and it's what my mom called a cheval set. I don't know how horses got into it! And that period they had freestanding long mirrors which swung on a stand, called a cheval mirror. I wonder if there's a connection
Kristina, I love videos like this, and I love your style. My whole house has been thrifted. When people come inside, they absolutely love it. The reason, my house is not a cookie cutter style. We raised three children in a 1350 square foot house. Yes, it was very crowded, but my children have wonderful memories. It was a house filled with love. I baked with my children, and we did crafts together. Since it was an older home, I let them decorate the walls with collages they created by cutting their favorite things out of magazines. Enjoy your children and have fun being you. Time goes by so fast. Have a wonderful week.
❤ty❤ I love the style! I love when you share your sewing too because I try and sew my own clothes too. . You are an inspiration for me there. . My favorites are your cleaning videos because it's encouraging and I was using those older Era routines and found them so helpful. . But the best of all is finding out you are neurodiverse and a writer. Me too! Me too! . Your channel is like a place of bliss for me and I also love hearing how the methods you use are helping with some of your struggles as a neurodiverse person because then I can kind of ask myself if that might benefit me too. . PS: I love that you are focused on being a mom. That is such an important thing. And your littles are so lucky to get to have that. .
The Halloween section is my favorite!! Ive found the best vintage there! Ive actually found vintage at the Bins. My best find is a 1940’s (possibly late 30’s) peplum waist dress in a chocolate brown and aqua musical instrument print! I rescued it, and was so happy when it fit me. Probably my favorite dress that I own.
I freaking LOVE that pink gingham dress!!!! My wife and I have been having such fun watching your channel!! It’s nice to have a Washington lady to watch!! We’re up on the Olympic Peninsula!!❤❤
Wow! Interesting take on plus size vintage! I was watching really old reel by reel of my grandpas family and all the women were plus size. The only ones who weren’t were the younger women. And I know they were incredibly hard working and not a bit lazy. ❤️
The cute rope earrings are called "door knocker" earrings. And every 1950's department store also sold "circle" pins. Love vintage jewelry but warning if you do too: stay off of ebay lol. And if you decide to sell some of your vintage clothing, please let us know first :) 'cuz I'm buying.
When an unneeded zipper won't stay up, simply zip it closed and then run a few stitches at the top of the teeth. It will prevent the tab from sliding down over the zipper teeth. The second pattern with the three tops looks to be a maternity top pattern. Maternity "smocks" were worn during pregnancy, unlike the tight fitting maternity clothes worn today. I think the change of style began in the 1990's-not sure. It was so much fun to select a pattern and fabric to sew my very first maternity smock back in the early 1980's!! :)
Awesome score on the lamps! I once thrifted a large mid century lamp for $35 NZ dls (about 20 US dollars). Sadly it broke due to a dresser collapsing (shoddy chipboard furniture!) We glued it back and started looking for something similar online, but they are hundreds of dollars from antique resellers - not gonna happen. I know at some point the thrifting gods shall bless me again. 😊
I LOVE seeing all your dresses - the infinite variety of color, patterns and trims is fascinating! Thanks for all your content - so interesting and fun! You are really beautiful and your dark hair, fair skin and hazel eyes are nicely complimented by the 50’s aesthetic. Watching your videos make me remember why I like 40’s and 50’s vintage - things from that era are often colorful, whimsical and feminine.
Thoose lamps 😲😲😍😍 wauuuu 🥰🙏💕 I agree with you, also here where I live, in Denmark, thriftshoos changed ....a Lot of cheap crap clothing and not so much vintage 🥴😩 Love your channel thank you 🙏❤️🥰
My favorite part was the jewelry. I love dishes, but that wasn’t in your program today. I too, love thrifting. I love the beautiful crystal, china, and silver. The crystal and china is so cheap. It is hard not to buy too much. If I bought all the dishes I love, I would have to put another room on the house.
That green is called moss/olive oil green in different listings now. I love it and I am so happy that it's trending since last year! Some colors like these are so difficult to find if they're not trending! ❤ 😢🎉
You look fabulously in the Rachel Zoe sweater vest and plaid slacks. Love seeing your few slack outfits. It’s very Sun Valley retro Feel. My parents used to go there in the 50s!
Totally agree with what you said about vintage clothes in smaller sizes and younger styles. I think it still holds true for modern clothes in thrift stores too, at least in my area. There are a lot of small young styles and fast fashion. The good quality grown woman sized clothes tend to be for older women who have likely passed away and their families have donated their clothes. I struggle to find quality adult clothes because women wear them for many years and they are too worn to donate in the end.
Your ADHD friend from Wyoming here. I collect Aprons also. My great grandma always wore an Apron, unless she was dressed up to go out. She had 12 kids. Then my mom wore aprons. I can't tell you how many times she told me...Nancy put an Apron on, you're going to get your clothes dirty. Well, now I have crafting aprons, cooking aprons, and cleaning aprons
I think the little hat wall "vases" are match stick holders! I vaguely remember seeing a tin container (not as pretty but serving the same function) holding loose matches in an old kitchen,
Oh my word! When I saw those lamps I almost dropped my teeth. I knew they were pricy before you even said. They are absolutely beautiful. I love the dresses. I wish manufactures sold dresses like that now. You have good taste.
@@WithLoveKristina I bought similar lamps and paid a FORTUNE for the pair. The glass was either made of stained, art, or "slag" glass. Not sure. And inside the bottom half was another socket for a small light bulb so that it could be used as a night light or mood lighting. I wonder if yours do also? Great score.
here are two book titles I had so much fun looking at our public library had them- you could interlibrary loan them. Vintage jewelry design : classics to collect & wear by Cox, Caroline. Warman's vintage jewelry : identification and price guide by Leshner, Leigh. I love old costume jewelry. I love your videos. Just found them. To insure your vase doesn't get knocked off you could put it down with foam tape. Or museum puddy. I would call that green army green. I love a good bargain. there is little tricks to make clothes bigger or smaller. I find a lot on youtube.
Hi Kristina- great video! The decorative cloth covers on upholstered arms and headrests are called antimacassars. Please consider taking the lamps to a hardware store that can update the electric cords-I have done this many times for my vintage lamps. Also some 1980s fashions harken back to the 1940s and can be found in estate sales. Can’t wait for your next video!
Those embroidered lady doilies would make such cute pockets on an upcycled clothing piece! Love ❤️ the red vase and small hat wall pockets! I used to collect every apron I’d find as well! lol! ❤❤ and that lamp you found! 💚💚💚💚💚
@@WithLoveKristina I have loved every 1 of ur Video's. U have a kute laugh. U have soo many pretty an kute thins, I love it. An ur dresses R all sooo awesome, they all look really gd on U. 2 the haters' that say heavy ppl kan't wear Vintage, I kall B.S. b kuz U look gd in anythin U wear. I wish I had at least 12 everydae dresses that I kould wear. I have sum Vintage dresses. But not ones like U got that U kan wear everydae. That is wat I need. I love quite a few of those dresses. That cookbook looks fabulous. Im sure youve thought about it already but just in case , remember to make sure your home contents insurance reflects that you own some special items . Those lamps are GORGEOUS!!💚Thank you for sharing some great tips lovely ❤❤
Yes i just got a few things for my kid and i couldnt use my coupon because they were considered haloween. Fuzzy unicorn suit w hood will be snuggly for winters and a very cool ribbon dress that somone had hacked the sleeves off from. I hemmed the sleeves and took up the bodice and my kid looks awesome.
Do you have or have you ever thought of opening an Etsy shop for us girls that just didn’t have the patience to learn to sew no matter how much our grandmothers tried to teach us. 😭😂I would buy from you. Or you know for the items like the ones in your home. Btw You’re the first person I’ve found who doesn’t make me feel bad that I have and collect as much stuff as I do and lets me know that I don’t have to have things set in a certain spot a certain way lot a lot of other people I’ve seen. I feel a lot better about my house and especially my antique room. Thank you for that.
I found two amazing, never-used vintage 1950s autumn tweed and winter lama fur coats at the Red Cross. I thought I died! I paid 10 dollars each... I know how much these go for in boutiques. The quality is next to none ❤❤❤ I love vintage
You're amazing! I love all of your finds! The LAMPS are SO gorgeous!! What a find! Thank you for the tips on plus size vintage shopping too! You are the best.
I have the same memories of thrifting 10-15 years ago. There used to be racks at SA and Goodwill that were labelled “Vintage” because they had so much! Now there’s so much Shein, and you know it’s there because someone bought it for $3 and hated it when they got it because it was garbage. So why does the thrift store think I might want it for $5? 😂😂
My mother always said for a zipper that slips, use a safety pin, put the pin part just under the Zipper, and it cannot slice down (do it from inside out).
Omg i had to pause the video just to vent in the comments about my LAMP ENVY!! 😂 the thrifting gods were shining down on you that day girl! I think they’d look great with some neutral drum shades, like a nubby beige linen or something…you’ll have to update us with whatever you decide bc I’m totally invested now lol
You and I have pretty similar measurements, so the speed with which I clicked on the Mid Mod eBay store...ooh boy. Thanks for sharing your treasures with us!
I will always love vintage even though my personal style has changed, I used to wear it all the time in my 20's and 30's.. i always thrifted everything so cheaply.. you are absolutely correct.. its getting almost impossible to thrift vintage .. i shop goodwill fairly often and i see tons of shein and Walmart brands🫤. Killer score on those lamps!!! 😲!!!!
What a find! I love those lamps! I found a 1950s brass and wood tulip lamp with a shell base for $50 instead of $500 a few years ago and I’m still riding that high🤣
The green lacy table cloth avocado 🥑 very cute stuff. ❤ by the way those lamps are so cool and yeah not the right lamp shades. Those would've had really tall lamp shades most likely with tassels on the bottom of them. I love it. ❤
Second hand shopping now is literally all shein with tags. It’s so disappointing. I’ve found more luck with linens, curtains and household things that I can use as fabric.
Omg, love those lamps ! U found some great dresses too, they are all so cute. The black is my favorite, I get 40's vib from it. Makes me want to go thrifting😊
I just was gifted the same 1940s sewing book by a friend last month! I got so excited when I saw you have one too!! Can’t wait to see you make some projects from it - it’s such a cute book
I am a larger dress size than you, and I'm a young woman with an interest in vintage fashion that's survived many many years of heartache over sizes. I love that we can adapt our patterns we find to our bodies, or find items that are workable while still making us happy. Plus size women have always existed! Yes, that stuff works great.
That's a great idea!
Patterns that are a decent price and not completely tattered are always an absolute gem to find.

I get excited about my second-hand treasures, too! Great finds!
Thank you
I love the color of those lamps. Beast ❤

LOVED this video! Love vintage/pin up look!!!
I found two amazing, never-used vintage 1950s autumn tweed and winter lama fur coats at the Red Cross.
I thought I died! I paid 10 dollars each... I know how much these go for in boutiques. The quality is next to none ❤❤❤ I love vintage
Timestamp 5:08 the pink top. My wore that style 1971 for a maternity top.
That is AMAZING and I Love those lamps!!! Great Job!!! I can’t wait to see them set up in your videos! 🎉❤
I love those green lamps
Love love those lamps omg they are just stunning , you make vintage clothes looks so pretty ❤
Oh my gosh! I gasped when I saw them. I love them! They are fantastic 😀❤️ The lamps
They're so good right?
You're amazing! I love all of your finds! The LAMPS are SO gorgeous!! What a find! Thank you for the tips on plus size vintage shopping too! You are the best.
I've noticed the thrift stores having crappy stuff, too!
💚Those lamps are divine and love all the other finds❤️
I believe you could call that green avocado green and those "Doilies" might be long handkerchiefs
I'm a reseller and vintage life person. I rarely find vintage dresses in thrift
Great video, thanks! Congratulations on those lamps. You look adorable in your vintage dresses, congratulations on those, too
The black dress is amazing and you look beautiful in it
I have the same memories of thrifting 10-15 years ago. There used to be racks at SA and Goodwill that were labelled “Vintage” because they had so much!
Now there’s so much Shein, and you know it’s there because someone bought it for $3 and hated it when they got it because it was garbage. So why does the thrift store think I might want it for $5? 😂😂
I just found your videos. YOU ARE ADORABLE! PEOPLE ARE MEAN!!! DON'T LISTEN TO THEM!
Lovely video Kristina. Thank you. ❤
My mother always said for a zipper that slips, use a safety pin, put the pin part just under the Zipper, and it cannot slice down (do it from inside out).
Lovely video!❤️❤️❤️
You are just so cute. The cutest dresses ever. Can't wait to see you wearing them. Also, amazing lamp find ... Good job!!!
Love those lamps!👍🏼
And the black dress!!!
🙋♀️❤️. I'd call the green tablecloth Avacado green 😉🥑
You and I have pretty similar measurements, so the speed with which I clicked on the Mid Mod eBay store...ooh boy. Thanks for sharing your treasures with us!
She’s got some gooood stuff!
Avocado, definitely avocado green!
Your embroidered lady doilies are part of a vanity set. One for each side and a long one in the middle.
I found a 1950s brass and wood tulip lamp with a shell base for $50 instead of $500 a few years ago and I’m still riding that high🤣
oh my gosh that's amazing! Honestly any time I find something and then find out it's valuable I'm like "well I'm gonna keep THAT forever" lol
I ❤ that wrap dress!!!!!! Amazing
Isn't it so fun? I am excited to try some things from it!
those round patch pockets on the one swirl dress are so cute!
Right?!
I love those lamps!
